A Frontline Soldier Awakened as a Gamer In The War!

Chapter 54: (1)

Chapter 54: (1)

This is Therian Merchant Caravan! Kaiyan thought.

Guiding him all the way to the front of Merchant Guild, Bisel had insisted on personally providing the directions. Even knowing the location would have been enough, but Bisel insisted on bringing me to the front of Therian Merchant Caravan, Kaiyan thought.

Its bigger than I thought, he remarked, gazing at the impressive scale of the building. It was evident that the magnitude of the upper section surpassed that of a small village. With such a size, it could easily sustain his former ruined hometown.

Hmm? Its not that big. Its about the size of a medium-sized guild, Bisel commented.

Is that so? Kaiyan was taken aback once again.

He marveled at the fact that this was merely the size of a medium-sized building. I made the right choice by participating in the request. Otherwise, I wouldnt have known, he thought. The experience of accumulating knowledge about how the world operates became apparent once again. After all, the world doesnt revolve around a single individual.

Come on, lets go inside! Bisel exclaimed, taking the lead and opening the door to the Therian Merchant Caravan building. Kaiyan followed him, entering the building where boxes filled with various items were scattered around, and workers, likely laborers, moved busily.

Lost in amazement at his surroundings, Kaiyan was startled when Bisel tapped his shoulder. Kaiyan! Say hello. This is Mr. Jansen, the owner of Therian Merchant Caravan, Bisel introduced.

Nice to meet you. My name is Kaiyan, he greeted politely.

Haha, pleased to meet you too. As Bisel mentioned, I am Jansen Gebanak. Feel free to call me Jansen, Mr. Jansen responded.

Kaiyan couldnt help but notice that Jansen gave off the impression Uncle Jeff had warned him about. There was something unsettling about Jansens smiling face, a discrepancy between his smiling mouth and his eyes. He seemed like someone on Uncle Jeffs list of people to be cautious of. Nonetheless, Kaiyan couldnt deny the need to be careful.

Mr. Jansen, were leaving tomorrow, but what brings you here? If you need any assistance, please dont hesitate to let me know, Jansen inquired.

Haha, I appreciate the offer, but its not about that. Its because my friend Kaiyan here wants to participate in the request, Bisel explained.

A request? Well as long as he has the appropriate rank, it doesnt matter, Jansen replied.

While saying that, Jansen examined Kaiyan from head to toe, a smile adorning his face. It seemed as if Jansen was dismissing him, implying, Of course, you dont have the qualifications.

Well, that should be fine! Kaiyan is a B-rank mercenary! Bisel proudly announced.

What? Did you say B-rank? Jansen reacted with surprise.

However, his surprise was short-lived, and he quickly regained his composure, flashing a bright smile at Kaiyan.

Oh, my apologies! Kaiyan, thank you for participating in the request! Jansen expressed his gratitude.

Not at all. I simply found a well-paying request as a mercenary, Kaiyan modestly replied.

Hahaha! Dont worry about the reward! Ive already mentioned it to the mercenaries, but as long as the request is successfully completed, youll be generously compensated, Jansen assured.

The rest of the process went smoothly. Kaiyan followed Jansens guidance, filling out the contract and receiving an advance payment of 1 gold.

Haha! How about that? Where else can you find a request that pays 1 gold as an advance? Of course, its because youre a B-rank mercenary, Bisel commented, proud of his offer.

Although it was Kaiyans first request, he wasnt sure if 1 gold was a small or large amount. However, judging by Bisels reaction, it seemed significant. Besides, with 1 gold, he would have to bring back a bag full of goblin ears from the battlefield.

As Kaiyan bid farewell to Jansen and stepped out of the building with Bisel, the latter smiled and spoke. Kaiyan, have you decided on your accommodation? Youll need to stay in Blatan Territory for a day.

I havent decided yet, Kaiyan replied.

Oh? How about going to the lodging where our mercenary group stays? It will give you a chance to meet and greet your future colleagues, Bisel suggested.

Well Kaiyan hesitated. He had planned to explore different parts of the city during his free time, but Bisels suggestion didnt sound bad.

Lets do that, he agreed.

Kaiyan was also curious about the other mercenaries.

Following Bisels guidance, they left the central square and headed towards the outskirts. Unlike the central area, the outskirts contained many old buildings that exuded a nostalgic atmosphere, reminiscent of his former small hometown.

Not all cities are like this, Kaiyan remarked.

Hmm? What do you mean? Bisel asked.

I used to think that everyone in the city lived well. But Kaiyan trailed off, observing the various people passing by. Their clothes were worn-out and ragged, their faces lacked leisure, and their expressions were almost blank.

As he watched them hasten about with quick steps, the illusion he had constructed about cities based on books shattered. Haha! Look at me! Isnt it obvious? Even in the capital, there are slums, Bisel explained.

Is that so? Kaiyan responded.

Hmm? Is this your first time in a city? Bisel asked, surprised.

Yes, its my first time in a city. I used to live in a small village, Kaiyan answered.

Bisel looked at him with an expression of surprise, as if questioning the existence of someone like him. Oh, I see. You must have had a frustrating life. Well, maybe its because youre still young, Bisel concluded, nodding twice.

Well, I suppose I should tell you about how the world works, Bisel offered.

No, theres no need for that, Kaiyan declined silently.

But as he was about to refuse, Bisel suddenly stopped walking. Oh no! Haha! Weve arrived, he exclaimed, pointing at the building behind him.

Goblins Dew? Kaiyan read the name written on the signboard.

Haha! You can read, huh? The name might be peculiar, but the food is amazing. You can look forward to it! Bisel assured him.

Oh, yes Kaiyan responded with little enthusiasm.

Suppressing his lack of interest, he reluctantly followed Bisel into the shop.

Creak.

Its better than I expected, Kaiyan thought, relieved as he entered the shop. Contrary to his concerns, the interior was clean and resembled the image he had of a tavern.

Several people sitting at the scarce tables inside the shop raised their hands and greeted them, their attention drawn to the newcomers.

Hey! Bisel! Why are you wandering around like that? one of the customers called out.

Oh, I was just having some fun at the mercenary office! I thought there might be some other information! Bisel replied.
