Interstellar Survival: Invasion

Chapter 247: Attacking The Brain Production Area

Chapter 247: Attacking The Brain Production Area

"You mean there is another Wargod on this planet? What is his name? And why is he here?" asked Old Du in astonishment.

"Yes, and the buer made it very clear that there is someone with the same genetic makeup as mine here, but I still don't know what that person is. However, I am looking forward to meeting them," said Anxashe.

"Canyue, do we continue retreating?" Dodo suddenly asked while everyone was busy talking to each other.

I hesitated. The beast planet was currently so calm that it felt unreal. Not long ago, there were tens of thousands of beasts around, but now, they had all disappeared and gone into the distant base. Even the flying beasts and the surveillance droids had vanished from the sky.

"Weird. The beasts seem to have vanished completely," said Zhang Bao'er.

"I think we have been fully exposed. It doesn't seem likely that we will be able to attack the worm colony brain. Should we consider giving up on this goal?" asked Old Du.

"I think so too. Those beasts are probably waiting inside for us to throw ourselves right into their trap," said Zhang Bao'er.

"I suggest you give up. With the people you have, it will be suicide. Not even us of the Sacred Wing race will be willing to provoke those fellows who are sturdy yet lacking in intelligence," said Temo.

I hesitated upon hearing the different suggestions. However, the target was right in front of us. The beast army had also retreated from us once. I really couldn't accept giving up just like this. Anxashe, who was standing beside me, seemed to have read my mind.

"Commander, with the buer, our strength is no longer the same as before. You can consider using the buer's strength to attack the brain base," said Anxashe, providing a suggestion that I wanted to say but lacked the guts to voice out.

Joy covered my face when I heard Anxashe's suggestion.

"If you want to do it, be decisive. With this big guy's help, we can give it a try," said Zhang Bao'er, who had similarly guessed my thoughts.

Old Du, prudent as ever, asked, "But would this big guy help us attack its base? Also, Temo said that there are two other buers there. How should we handle them if they appear?"

"Anxashe, ask the buer if it's willing to join us in an attack against the worm colony brain," said Zhang Bao'er.

Anxashe placed his hand on the buer's massive body and shut his eyes, looking as if he was telepathically communicating with the buer. A few minutes later, he reopened his eyes.

"It agreed to go with us. However, it is unsure of the position of the other two buers. They might come here at any time. The big guy also told me that it has never entered the base. There is a mysterious power there controlling the operation of the worm colony brain," said Anxashe.

"There's nothing to hesitate about. Who cares about the mysterious power? With this big guy's help, we can smash open a way directly to the shitty worm colony brain," said Zhang Bao'er uncaringly.

"The big guy will only be able to bring us to the entrance. It is too big to enter the building," said Anxashe.

"Then, do we still only have ourselves to rely on after entering the building?" asked Old Du.

I said, "We only need to think of a way to go into the inner part of the building and install all our nuclear warheads on the worm colony brain before retreating. That way, we might be able to succeed. Of course, the premise is that nobody stays to fight longer than needed and that we retreat the moment we achieve our goal."

"I have one more question. If there are a large number of beasts in the building, making it impossible for us to reach the brain, what should we do?" Dodo asked a rather practical question.

"Then we give up and retreat. There is no need to sacrifice our lives for an impossible mission," I answered.

"But it is very likely that there are many beasts in the base. We saw it ourselves earlier. All the beasts had returned to the base," said Old Du, reminding us of the risk.

"That might also be a trap. The base and its surroundings are abnormally quiet right now," said Dodo.

I said, "Since we're already here, none of us will be willing to give up without even trying. Our plan is clear. Approach the base with the buer's help. All combat personnel will enter the building together. The moment we discover anything wrong, we pull out."

Intentionally pointing at Temo, Zhang Bao'er asked, "What about these people? They can't fight. They can't follow us, or they will only get in the way."

"Everyone can get on the buer and use its help to hide and approach the base. The combat personnel will carry out the mission while the rest will stay on the buer. If we fail, the big guy will send them back," said Anxashe. His answer lifted a weight off my chest.

With the discussion over, everyone followed Anxashe's guidance and started climbing onto the buer's body. We all avoided the flickering black holes and stopped at a relatively flat and stable part of its body.

"Through a detailed calculation, I have concluded that you have less than a one-percent chance of succeeding," said Temo, assuming his usual superior tone yet again.

"Dwarf, even with zero chance, we will still go and take a look. You can stay on the big guy. Remember to not get in our way," said Zhang Bao'er.

Seeing how stubborn we were, Temo decided to stop talking. Perhaps the buer also saw that we were ready, and it suddenly turned invisible. Just like that, a hill carrying all of us vanished from the surface of the planet. With us on its back, the buer headed toward the base.

It was truly astonishing to see all of us become invisible the moment the buer turned invisible. We couldn't even see each other. Additionally, the buer had also become completely silent after turning invisible, completely unlike its previous noisy self.

'This fellow is truly worthy of being the descendant of a mythological beast,' I praised inwardly.

"Which idiot stepped on me?" Zhang Bao'er's voice rang out from the thin air in front of me.

With the size of the buer, each step it took was akin to a hundred steps for life forms like us. In less than five minutes, we were standing in front of the wall of the base. From afar, the base looked exceptionally imposing.

From up close, it appeared even more lofty and impressive. It had a thick wall reaching 100 meters into the air, completely covering the view behind it. Even the buer only reached half its height. Standing near the wall, I heard some sharp sounds similar to the sound of electrical currents. It was as though some intense chemical reaction was occurring behind the walls.

"The buer can only bring us up to here. There is a door on the ground. All combat personnel may get ready," Anxashe said.

I gave a short order, "All combat personnel, be ready to enter the base. Dodo, Temo, and the laborers will stay behind and wait for us to return."

"You should take me with you," said Temo. "I'll pretend this is a live-action movie where I get to experience the combat of planet-level civilizations." Temo clearly wanted to help, but he was rather bad at expressing his goodwill.

"I'm going on an important mission. I don't have the time to bring you to see a movie. Just stay here. Don't create trouble for us," rejected Zhang Bao'er, which wasn't exactly surprising.

"Let me go. You won't regret it. If you refuse to take me with you, I promise you will regret it," Temo insisted. His words seemed to contain a hidden meaning.

"It's not that we're unwilling to bring you but that we're going out with warriors to complete a mission. With you, we might need to distract ourselves to protect you," I said helplessly.

"I don't need anyone protecting me. Old Du alone is enough," said Temo, shamelessly demanding to have Old Du as his bodyguard.

Old Du also expressed his willingness to protect Temo. Seeing how stubborn Temo was, and taking Old Du's willingness into consideration, I stopped wasting time and agreed. We climbed down the buer's body following the same path we used to climb up. Before long, we were all back on the ground.

The moment we separated from the buer's body, we became visible again. I saw that everyone was already well-armed. The bloody battle earlier had mostly exhausted our energy supply. Old Du had transferred some energy from Dodo, Sarje, and the others to give us something to use during this mission. At the moment, I only had roughly 30 percent of my maximum energy capacity. We only had one shot at this, and failure wasn't something we could afford.

"Brothers, we don't have much energy left. Be ready to use your melee weapon at any time," I reminded Old Du and Zhang Bao'er before setting forth.

Seeing that everyone was ready, I gazed at the door before me. A series of steel doors, each spaced 100 meters apart, was lining the wall. Each door was big enough for a 3-meter-tall spider beast to easily walk through, and they were all currently shut tight.

"Temo, can you open these doors?" I asked.

"I noticed the doors the moment we came here. There are no genetic or fingerprint locks," said Temo.

Hearing the conversation, Zhang Bao'er bent forward and propped up his laser gun. He then strode to the door in front of us. He pushed with his hand, and surprisingly, the door opened with a creak.

"These doors can be opened so easily?" exclaimed Sarje in astonishment.

Everyone rushed forth with their guns raised the moment the door opened. I had confirmed the numbers we had prior to the mission. There were 13 of us in total. I also rushed toward the door. When I looked in, an active brain-like structure appeared before my eyes.
