Rise of the Legendary Emperor

Chapter 231: The Jewel and The Arrogant One

Chapter 231: The Jewel and The Arrogant One

The inside of the Jewel looked fancier than the outside as it had an elegant sofa set with a small but luxurious bed-chamber. Amaryll didn't forget to stock fruits and various beverages for Don and Reghys in the pantry cupboard.

The dwarves, however, put extra armor, weapons such as swords, bows, arrows, and new outfits for Don in a separate cupboard. The Jewel could simply accommodate five to seven people without them feeling crowded and the ride felt remarkably smooth and comfortable.

"What's your endgame here, Don?"

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean, Don, it's a good thing what you have been doing but I know Don, I know you're doing this for vengeance"

Don calmly listened to her sitting leisurely on the sofa

"Why don't you just go and kill whoever you want, Don, why go to all this trouble?"

Reghys asked as she noticed the aura around him turning colder and murderous

"Yes, with little more power and proper planning, I can kill them, I can kill every single one of them"

Even though she was a dragon and strong-hearted, even she felt a little afraid looking at his killing intent.

"But no I won't do that, death would be a mercy for them. I want to break everything they have built, piece by piece, brick by brick, I will make them feel what I felt, I want them to feel helpless, hopeless, weak"

Reghys was taken back by shock as he continued

"When they cry and beg for death, I will slowly, very slowly, burn them alive, just like they did to everyone I loved"

"Who?"

Don shook his head as the killing intent in his eyes slowly started to disappear

"I won't say who, Reghys, when the time comes, you'll know, and don't worry about the safety of our people, I've lost enough and I'm not planning to lose them too"

Reghys sighed as she thought about the ones who wronged him and felt pity for them. Every word he uttered was soaked in anger and hatred and she knew that he meant every single word.

After this conversation, they continued the journey in silence while the sound of heavy downpour gradually disappeared as they started to feel the hot and dry air.

When Don opened the window beside him, he noticed the people of Sigalla ogling at them and talking to each other in wonder. He could tell that the lack of water had taken its toll on these people by looking at their dry skin and thin bony bodies. During his last visit, he was able to see some greenery here and there but now, the place resembled a desert.

"Is there a way to bring water to these people before we build the dam?"

If this dry season continued in Sigalla, there was a chance that the rich people from the nearby kingdoms would avoid coming to Sigalla and that would be bad for his business. Also, if he could bring water to these people, his reputation among them would grow and they would be more grateful towards him which might prove useful in the future. Since giving the water spirit to Sigalla was out of the question, Don asked Reghys

"Hmm, these people do look miserable"

Reghys said and pondered about the issue for a moment

"We could build balloons and fill them with water instead of air and pour the water into their water source, it might cost us hundreds of gold coins though"

"How long does it take? It'll be great if we could do that before we open our business here"

"We have the materials we need to make the balloons and although we can use our teleporter to bring them to Sigalla, I'd recommend you find another way"

"We can use Queen Sienna, she can open up a portal from Agoria to Sigalla"

"Great"

As they kept traveling, more buildings such as bakeries, houses, and shops started to appear in their sight as well as people who looked a little better than the ones he saw previously.

"Your majesty, the royal guards of Sigalla is waiting for us"

Don heard Arwen's voice in his mind through the Khal as the carriage slowed down.

"Let's see the hospitality of Sigalla"

Reghys said as she stood up and waited for Don to step out of the carriage.

And when the black-armored guards opened the door for Don, he saw a group of guards in full sky blue metal plate and chainmail waiting for him.

"King Don"

As he stepped out of the carriage, a knight with a young face came to greet him.

Don expected at least General Brown would come to welcome him but all he got was a teenager in Knight armor.

"King Don, this is"

The Knight confusedly looked at Don and he didnt care what the knight might be thinking as he asked the Knight.

"This is Lady Reghys, my advisor, and who you might be?"

The Knight let our a proud and yet an arrogant grin

"I am Sir Harris Dolloway, the Vice General of the Sigalla and Knighted by the great Sir Oscar Loombas himself"

Harris emphasized the word Sir and the name Oscar Loombas like it was a big deal

Don could recognize an arrogant one when he saw one and Harris seemed like nothing but an arrogant youth with a huge ego. The way he was standing, talking, and looking at him screamed arrogance.

In the youth's eyes, there wasn't a shred of respect or humility that a knight should have.

Witnessing Don's indifferent reaction after he introduced himself, a fit of slight anger rose in his eyes as Arwen noticed this but stood beside Don without speaking any words.

"Shall we go and meet King Edward now?"

Don asked before the youth could say anything stupid in anger.

"We shall King Don but only his majesty and his family can use the carriage inside the capital, so you have to walk with us"

He emphasized the word walk again as the black-armored guards took a step forward towards the royal guards to be stopped by Don.

The royal guards became quite agitated when the black armored men took a step but sighed inside after seeing Don stop them.

"It's fine, lead the way"

Don wasn't going to argue or quarrel with him over this as he had better things to do than fight with an arrogant prick like Harris. However, if he kept doing things like this, Don would do something that Harris is not going to like.

"Follow me, King Don and Lady Reghys"

The way he said Lady Reghys irked Don as he could sense the disrespect in his tone.

Arwen knew that Harris is assuming Reghys as a woman who stayed with him to satisfy his urges on top of being an advisor to him. He wanted to put an arrow through his head just for thinking like this but seeing Don's silence, he buried the anger and kept following Don.

"The moon doesn't care if the dogs bark at it"

Reghys thought in her mind and followed Don without minding this youth or his tone.

Instead of getting mad at him, Don wondered what gave this youth the courage to act like this as a mid great master like him would not usually mess with a peak grandmaster like Don.

After following this youth in the scorching heat of the sun, the castle of King Edward appeared in their sight. Unlike his previous visit, there was no water flowing out of the fountains.

The law before the castle also looked dying without the water, however, when he was walking towards the castle, he passed the fancy houses that probably belonged to the nobles and they appeared to have water as he saw the fountains and gardeners watering the flowers in the lawn.

No matter where he went, the nobles seemed heartless and detestable as there were people in Sigalla who had no water to drink and soon would start to die but these nobles were watering the plants and wasting the precious water in the fountains.

He wondered where they were getting the water as the guards opened the gates and let them into the castle compound.

And when he entered the compound, he saw a line of fancy carriages with the flags of the Vreston Kingdom parked before the castle entrance.

"I won't let my daughter anywhere near that monster, leave Sigalla now!"

Don's steps were halted by Queen Sienna's shout as he frowned.

"Your majesty"

Just when he was wondering what just happened, General Brown came to him in a hurry.

"You don't need to come here, General, I told you I got this"

Harris's tone was deep when he said this to General Brown but General Brown shook his head and gave a short bow towards Don

"Your majesty, please follow me"

Don sensed panic and rush in General Brown's face as he gestured at Don to follow him into the castle.

"Stay here"

Arwen ordered the black-armored guards and went with Don and Reghys into the castle.

"What's happening, General Brown?"

The carriages of Vreston, the shout of Sienna, and the panic in General Brown's face convinced Don that something bad is happening in the castle.

"Your majesty, I'm afraid I don't have time to explain and forgive Sigalla for putting you in this dire situation, but please help Princess Amber, only you can help the royal family and Sigalla"

Arwen and Reghys were confused about what he meant but before anyone could ask General Brown, they reached the throne hall where Don saw some familiar and unfamiliar faces.
