Chapter 456 The Ancient Sea God

Chapter 456  The Ancient Sea God

Leon examined the dark green Divine Spark with an interested gaze. He had tried cracking it open to extract the remains of the God of Greed's soul in order to revive him, but it had proven to be futile. He had made much more progress with some other weaker Minor God Divine Sparks, but he had still been unable to revive them at this time.

It was because of this difficulty in reviving these fallen Gods that Leon found his respect for the Paragon of Undeath increasing by a tiny bit. This powerful True God had been able to subdue many Gods and turn them into his subordinates, whether living or undead. In fact, from what he had been told, the number of living Gods who served the Paragon of Undeath was just a meager fraction of the total number of servants he had.

"I will come back for you after I have managed to revive one of the weaker Gods. Wait for me." He said to the unresponsive Divine Spark before turning around and leaving the room. He stepped out into a long hall. Its end was not clear from where Leon stood. On either side of the hall were stone doors that were covered in an intricate rune pattern. Each door led to a room that was identical to the one Leon had just stepped out of, and each of them held a Divine Spark or a Divine Fragment from a powerful celestial beast.

Leon walked a short distance before stopping in front of another door. He opened it and stepped inside. There was a Divine Spark that glowed with a radiant blue light. It belonged to a long fallen Sea God that had been on the neutral side. When he died to the plots of the Chaos Faction, his last wish was that he should not be brought back unless it was absolutely necessary.

This was because he was a rather strange God. From what Leon had been told, he had a dull personality. The last time he had shown interest in something was when he was about to be killed. In truth, he had let himself die so that he could experience the excitement of death.

Leon was weirded out by this, but who was he to judge? Perhaps after living for an uncountable number of years, he would also form his own weird habits and pet peeves.

"You seem almost eager to come back." Leon remarked.

He had barely even worked on this Divine Spark, yet, it was teeming with energy. This was the Divine Spark of a powerful Major God. It was not something he could randomly control or influence. A fragment of the dead God still remained within the Divine Spark, which was why there would usually be resistance when trying to mess with it. It was the same thing as when Leon had absorbed Atrox's Divine Spark to ascend to Godhood.

In order to revive these Gods and add them to his Undead Army, Leon would need to go through a similar process as absorbing their Divine Spark. The only difference is that he would not take all the energy for himself, but settle for using it to revive the fallen Gods. They would come back in a slightly weaker state, but with the abundant Divine Power that was available after the restriction was lifted, it would not take them too long to return to their peaks.

Leon immediately got to work. As this Divine Spark was rather willing, he felt a lot more confident in his ability to revive this ancient Sea God in the next couple of days.

He sat down in front of the Divine Spark and allowed his Divine Power to flow out of his body and into it. It slowly prodded the depths of the Divine Spark, prying and digging deeper. Compared to the Divine Spark of the God of Greed, Leon felt as if he was slipping through oil, as opposed to the rocky God of Greed. He easily got to the heart of the Divine spark.

In Leon's mind's eye, the view around him suddenly changed. From a dark surrounding, he suddenly found himself in the middle of a vast sea. The surface of the sea was a deep but bright blue. Its currents were calm and gentle.

"Hm?" A deep voice hummed, expressing surprise.

The surface of the sea suddenly rose a short distance away from Leon, rising to over a hundred meters before bursting apart and showering Leon with a drizzle of water.

"And who are you?" The domineering voice boomed, not in a threatening manner, but one that was more inquisitive. A massive body that was made of the same water as the sea stood at a hundred meters in height, looking down at Leon.

"I am Leon Cromwell, God of Undeath." Leon proudly introduced himself. In front of this kind of ancient God, showing weakness would be the greatest mistake he could make.

"The God of Undeath? During my time, there was no such thing on Datar... Or perhaps, is my Divine Spark no longer on Datar? Or maybe yet! By any chance, are you a newly ascended God?!" The sea churned with the rising excitement of the ancient Sea God.

"Ahem. I am a newly ascended God." Leon replied. "And you are still on Datar. The reason I am here is to revive you."

"Revive me? I believe I made it clear that none should try to revive me unless there is something worth it. Or perhaps you are going behind the backs of the other Gods?" The sea churned violently as the Sea God's tone took on a threatening edge. Leon felt a powerful Divine Power rise up around him and try to suppress him.

Boom!

But he was no slouch either. The absorption of Atrox's Divine Spark had raised him to a point where he was nothing comparable to newly emerged Minor Gods like Kaladin and the others. He was closer to a Major God than he was to a fresh Minor God, while the ancient Sea God was a long dead God with only a fraction of his power left.

"Calm down. I am here for a good reason. I am sure you will want to hear it." Leon's voice was clear and firm, causing the Sea God to pause for a moment.

"...Go on."
