Chapter 41: Why I
On a battlefield in front of the Walls of Carthage, the scene of a Beast Tide pulling back and trying to retreat from the advance of a single Gem Master could be seen.
A Gem Master who led Two titanic Beasts surrounded by unstable storms of lightning that wreaked havoc on anything near them!
’It shouldn’t be this way…’
On top of a unique Aerial Beast of Corruption that was crying out while releasing blasts of green light to heal and reinforce him, Branch Leader Enaman burned with rage and regret.
Their Galanis Bloodline had just reached a crucial precipice of power, where they had just come to forge a shocking alliance.
They learned more secrets about the Breaches that terrorized their World.
They learned more about their nature and those that came from them.
They learned just how weak they were…and how they could advance their power to a level where they could rule the World of Ephesus without fear!
So they bid their time. They delved into and understood Breaches more as they stopped thinking in such a narrow fashion.
In this period of time, their reach extended far as they came to hear about something.
The appearance of a newly Awakened Five-Link Gem Master in a City Fortress that didn’t have anyone else of this caliber.
It wasn’t big news per se, but it was news that when his brother heard about it, he proposed going into this defenseless City Fortress and obtaining the Blueprint of the Five-Link Gem Sockets to transplant into himself!
They wouldn’t even have to move themselves as if they planned things well, even sending one of the Tier 4 Beasts they now had under their banner would be enough.
Enaman thought about it and how they were still under orders to lay low, but he had already heard of the movements of their people towards other City Fortresses as after careful consideration…he agreed to it!
They collected information, and they sent forth the terrifying Bobo!
Yet somehow, this had failed.
Enaman wanted to pause and understand why- if there was anything that they missed regarding the power of the City of Carthage, but a furious Neiman took the lead and said he would do it himself.
He would lead part of their forces forward, and since he knew that Enaman always erred on the side of caution, he could even follow behind and lend aid if it was needed.
After all, their enemies were only two Tier 4 Ascendant Gem Masters and a chickling holding power she didn’t even understand with 5 Gem Sockets.
With the power they had under their banner, they could crush them and take the lead as the Branch Leaders who already conquered a City Fortress under their banner!
After all, they had to do something to make themselves stand out.
The forces they had aligned with were far too powerful.
They had Tier 5 and Tier 6 Beast Commanders in large numbers. They had forces that the Human Lineages could not even begin to comprehend!
If they remained at the stage they were at without having at least one of them with 5 Gem Sockets, would they really be able to get far?
After all was said and done, Enaman was convinced.
And the result of all of this…came to this point in time.
’Why?’
’Why?!’
"Stupid human, how could you miss this? That enemy is at the very least a Tier 6 if not a Tier 7 powerhouse! You’ve brought us all to die!"
…!
Glacial ice forming behind them.
Apocalyptic lighting coming ahead of them.
In the midst of all of this, the Aerial Beast he was on- the Envoy that communicated with them and acted as an anchor between them and that terrifying force…her voice boomed out with wrath and fear.
Even the Envoy felt the same fear as him, and she was a Tier 4 Ascendant Caladrius!
A unique species of Beasts that specialized in healing among other wonders.
Yet at this moment, it could barely support him and herself as the tendrils of thunder reached them.
At such a moment, from the terrifying Gem Master standing on top of the enlarged Arctic Wolf, a booming voice filled with coldness came.
"I won’t ask a second time…Death, or Submission?"
…!
He voiced out.
As he did so, his figure was already flung forward like a buzz of crimson lightning as he arrived above a Flame Hound that was doing its best to withstand the storm of lightning from the Arctic Wolf and Golden Flame Lion that advanced forward.
This being only stared at the Flame Hound coldly for a second.
A second.
The Flame Hound whimpered at his appearance as it tried to gather crimson flames around it, and the moment this scene was observed…
BOOM!
Glacial ice froze its flames, the lightning storm around it piercing through its defenses as a moment later, this glacial ice exploded to reveal a shattered Flame Hound whose eyes dimmed of any life!
They instantly understood his words.
He would not ask a second time as when he appeared before them, they had to decide.
Either death, or submission!
BOOM!
Without batting an eye, the terrifying human wrapped in battle garments appeared on top of a Flame Crow trying to escape the storm of lightning all around it- its fur scorched as drops of blood already leaked out.
The moment he appeared from a clash of crimson lightning, this Flame Crow shuddered as its beak quickly bowed down, its screeching voice echoing out.
"Submission! Submission!"
Ah…
As if it were asking to be spared.
Its body radiated fear from this unknown Gem Master as the moment its beak was bent down in the air, a golden light flew from the terrifying Gem Master and onto its body as there was no resistance, and a second later…
CAAW!
The call of the Flame Crow erupted out as its body began to enlarge.
Its bones painfully broke and enlarged along with its musculature, and soon enough, a storm of lightning began to form around it!
All those observing this felt a chill in the depths of their hearts as on top of the Caladrius Beast of Corruption, Branch Leader Enaman felt even more regret and fear as the voice of the Envoy below him echoed out, this time filled with helplessness.
"You fucking idiot. This enemy likely has an extremely rare Ascendant Ability Gem, and you actually came to fight him…haha…haha!"
Desperation and madness could be felt in her laughter, but both of them knew it wouldn’t help them on this day!
