Chapter 182: : NHwa University Official Tiktok
Chapter 182
A few people chatted and laughed as they returned to their dormitory.
At noon, everyone took their lunch break on time.
But unexpectedly, the official TikTok account of Enhua University exploded.
It started with Ding Nan's singing.
Ding Nan was after all a rising little heavenly voice. Although she had placed fifth in the talent competition she participated in, the top three didn't make the cut but the first six finalists of that talent show's first season all became popular, just at varying levels.
Ding Nan was also considered a vocalist with decent singing skills, with a round and lovely face.
When a video of her singing was posted on Enhua's official TikTok, it garnered a lot of likes and comments, with Ding Nan already having a sizable fanbase.
But surprisingly, the TikTok video with the most likes wasn't Ding Nan's singing one.
Instead, it was another video titled "Exploring the Qingshui River", with the caption "Don't know if it's a little brother or little sister, but I'm a fan, feel free to check it out."
Since it was the official TikTok account, no student information was revealed. It just said it was one of the top 10 singers at Enhua University's Mid-Autumn Festival gala.
Naturally, there was also a TikTok video clip of Wu Xinyue singing which she had recorded herself and already posted on her own TikTok, but she also reposted the official TikTok video which had more overall footage like the full venue going wild, so after weighing the pros and cons she ultimately promoted the official TikTok more.
Her current persona was that of a privileged rich girl attending a private university.
She gained a lot more fans, as attending a prestigious private university was quite an appealing tagline after all.
With Wu Xinyue's fans in addition to Ding Nan's fans, plus the official TikTok account's fans and many organic fans, the one who ultimately went viral was the singer of "Exploring the Qingshui River", Xiao Qi.
Although the official TikTok did not reveal the contestant's details, this particular video became hugely popular.
It gained many more likes than the videos Jiajia had previously posted of Xiao Qi.
The number of likes on the TikTok video of Xiao Qi singing reached over 400,000, breaking the official TikTok account's record for most likes.
The official TikTok account was quite random to begin with and basically had no major marketing campaigns, as it was the official university TikTok after all.
Unexpectedly, it suddenly went viral.
The person filming chose great angles, capturing the expressions of the live audience and the singer's performance on stage.
The original sound was used because surrounding noises could be heard.
It was precisely because it used the original sound that this TikTok video became even more popular.
"There's actually no filters, it was recorded directly. The little brother or little sister on stage is too good-looking!"
"Every time I look at the little brother's/little sister's face I feel my sexuality swaying."
"The facial features are too exquisite and outstanding."
"If the little sister had a beauty mark near her eyes, I wouldn't be able to close my legs."
"I bet a hundred durians that it's a little brother, definitely a little brother. I want to marry him!"
"Little brother, no need to try so hard! I will provide for you!"
"The little sister looks so young, probably not an adult yet right?"
"Is the little sister an upcoming celebrity? Too gorgeous, I could gaze at this beauty for ten years."
"Listening to the singing makes my ears pregnant."
"I only listened to it eighteen times, possibly 4 months pregnant now."
"I was actually listening to Peking tunes on loop for a whole day, am I getting old?"
"When I was watching this TikTok video my grandma overheard it and actually asked me to download TikTok on her old brick phone, question is, can you even get TikTok on those? Please advise ASAP, quite urgent."
"It's a little sister, she's actually so handsome I couldn't keep my legs closed. I hereby declare my gender female and sexual orientation female."
In the afternoon, Lin Min was reading medical books in his dorm room. Medical students had endless books to go through.
Outside his window on the first floor were lush trees, so when looking outside all he saw was greenery.
Convenient to head out but the downside was more mosquitoes.
There was usually some mosquito repellent incense burning in the dorm.
He studied very diligently, basically hugging textbooks whenever he had time. Although he ran a used book stall, the boys were quite simple-minded with few concerns, so no one would mock him over that or anything. Plus now in university, everyone felt they were adults who had matured in many ways in their speech and conduct.
Lin Min was no longer as sensitive or insecure as when he was in high school. Although his expression was still aloof, his temper had mellowed out quite a bit now. He no longer reacted sharply like before and got along much better with his classmates and dormmates.
A good university really was a cradle of talent.
Qingmeng University had such a strong academic atmosphere with students competing over studies rather than money or material matters. Students focused more on learning than other stuff.
But of course they weren't all bookworms. After all those admitted into Qingmeng University had decent IQs with diverse hobbies as well, liking gaming, TikTok, etc. just like other youths their age, but with more self-restraint in their behavior.
Lin Min's dormmate Chen Youkuang had been reading textbooks all morning. Now he was lying in bed scrolling TikTok, though he still wore headphones to avoid disturbing others. Suddenly he leapt up and shouted, "Come quick and see this!"
He unplugged his earphones and the room instantly filled with singing: "Peach leaves so very pointy, willow leaves blot out the sky. This Lord in his place, listen closely to my tale..."
It felt stunning in that moment.
Lin Min's was a six-person dorm but currently one was out, leaving five of them. They all gathered around to watch.
Normally Lin Min wasn't one to get involved, but upon hearing this voice he felt his heart quiver, putting down his book to squeeze over.
And the first thing he saw was Xiao Qi sitting there quietly singing.
Right then, he couldn't hear his roommates yelling stuff at all, just utterly absorbed watching the video while the song ended with him still foolishly standing there.
"The girls at Enhua University sure are good-looking. The girls in our medical department though, *sigh*..." Chen Youkuang sighed ruefully.
"Stop dreaming. A girl with such sweet singing and stunning looks must already have a boyfriend," another dormmate said.
"She doesn't," Lin Min stated firmly.
