Chemistry and Devon superstore

Chemistry and Devon superstore

This was my first real science based skill so I was admittedly rather curious about the differences it may have had from it's counter part on earth. I was horribly disappointed to find that it was basically the same as it was on earth. To explain it in terms anyone can understand chemistry is the art of understanding and replicating chemical reactions. The five basic types of reactions are combination , decomposition , replacement , double replacement and combustion. Using these a chemist can create complex compounds or chemicals as they are commonly referred to.-

Chemists use the knowledge of the base elements to accomplish all this and most of the skill is macro scaled while there is a branch known as atomic chemistry which is micro scaled. Either way the skill was a stupidly complex field of study and thus gave me a huge headache to acquire. Honestly speaking I never saw a scenario that would require me to use this knowledge at all as while a chemist could accomplish the same results as an alchemist with enough effort the work required to do the same things was leagues harder for a chemist.-

I didn't even consider touching the ability ticket after I got my new skill as if the system gave me something crazy that changed my body in a fundamental way I doubt Melissa wouldn't notice. 'Well whatever I will find out after I leave town since the next gym is in Dewford' I thought as I started my own daily workout. About halfway through my workout Vulcan seemed to figure out my hint as it sent up an overcharged sunny day. Overcharging a weather move was not something I recommend my pokemon do normally as it tends to get distracting to say the least.-

An overcharged sunny day for example caused the fake sun created for it to be very very bright which was plain hard to not pay attention to. That would be beneficial in battle if it wasn't for the fact that the pokemon under it's effect were the most distracted by it and thus got sloppy even if they were the one who used the move. For training solar beam though I couldn't think of anything better than a stupidly bright sunlight. Gaia on the other hand was suffering over the attempt to create a new steel type move as she glowed silver for a moment before it faded away while she had a frustrated look in her eyes.-

I don't really interfere with the creative process of a new move that they attempt as , one it's always interesting to see what they come up with and two beyond postulating how the moves might work I can't actually give advice on the subject. It was clear though that Gaia wanted to create a powerful move but didn't know what direction to take it. When she learned metal claw previously it was because she was focusing her steel type energy on her claws before launching an attack with them.-

Projecting steel type energy though was an entirely new thing for her and so she was a bit stuck at the moment. I had faith that she would eventually figure it out and chose to get back to my workout. I finished that up before unsheathing my spear and picking up a small loose stone from the ground and tossing it into the air. "SWISH! TING!" I thrust forward right as the stone went to fall causing the stone to pop up into the air again as my spears head deflected it upwards.-

"TING! TING! TING!" I spent the next few hours juggling the stone with the movement of my spear in order to train my dexterity and accuracy with the spear. This was a highly advanced training method for the weapon that taxed the spearman's perception and precision as the stone needed to be struck very specifically to keep it in the air without flying in another direction. "CRACK!" with a final thrust of my spear I struck the stone dead center as it fell shattering it. "HUUUU~" I breathed out heavily as my mind fell out of that state of hyper focus and exhaustion caught up with me.-

I opened my pokenav and checked the time before sheathing my spear on my back again. "OI!" I called out and all of my pokemon stopped what they were doing to look at me. "PACK IT UP WE'RE DONE FOR THE DAY!" I call out and they all deflate as they drop out of training mode and their own exhaustion hits them. None of them complained when I put all of them except Tank in their balls. The training area was completely unchanged from when I arrived which showed that the league knew their power levels.-

I still had three hours before Melissa got off work and I was supposed to meet up with her and wanted to use this time to check out some equipment and supplements while I was in the city. The best place for that was the Devon corp superstore not far from the training area. To be honest other than the logo and clear happiness of the employees it looked identical to a Walmart from earth. Just like Walmart the store was separated into several different types of items from food to tech each had their own designated location in the store.-

As much as I was tempted to just browse the entire selection of the store I knew I didn't have the time for that and made my way to the tech area. I had to admit that the selection was top notch in the store as there was plenty of equipment to choose from involving various skills from metal working to chemistry supplies. 'Hmmm , one set of basic pill making equipment is ten thousand poke and it doesn't include any materials to make a pill.' I contemplated as I saw the price tag of the set. At the moment I only had about twelve thousand poke with me and was rather reluctant to spend most of it like this.-

Not because I was greedy or anything like that but because I didn't want to have to go do some more jobs at the pokecenter for cash. While I was probably considered a neutral entity with the Joy and Jenny clans after the misunderstanding was cleared up I still wanted as little to do with them as possible. I could of course trade some of my resources that I had an excess of like the grade five water stones from the cave.-

The problem with that plan was that I had no idea when I might find something like that again and didn't want to get bottom dollar for them when I might be able to get top dollar later instead. In the end I chose to take the lessor of two evils and purchase the set with what I had on me alongside some pill capsules that were fairly cheap at fifty poke a dozen. The look I got at checkout was rather funny as the clerk looked between me and the pill maker set in utter disbelief.
