Chapter 179: The High Wall IV

Chapter 179: The High Wall IV

Sol understood one thing. That the part of the territory they've just entered was near its back. An old door which wasn't being used anymore. The reason for this is because, he knew that the monsters would not trouble themselves with placing their entry point on a place which doesn't have any road. Nor was it the main exit point.

It was simply an old route which has been closed. For whatever reason this may be, Sol didn't know. But one thing he did know was that, because this was their point of entry, they got themselves deeper into the enemy's territory.

The number of monsters fighting them, as well as the number of monsters running towards the same direction, simply continued increasing. There was a seemingly endless wave of them marching for Sol's team. Yet his allies had neither anxiousness nor worry. Knowing that everything was going according to plan.

"Is it time for that yet?" Nathan asked, moving his whip in a circular motion in the air which warded off the monsters trying to get near.

"Not yet. I'm sure there's plenty of other monsters coming for us." Sol said in reply, also doing his part as he created another [Center of Gravity]. Compiling the monsters to a single spot while slowing down those which were just a bit outside its range.

"Can't they be a bit faster? These guys are getting overly familiar with me." Hendrickson commented, flinging away a goblin that has grabbed on to his arm.

"I mean this is a good way to sweat so I'm not complaining." Alice said dismounting again and stabbing a hobgoblin at the top of its head. The creature moved around for a few more seconds before dropping dead. Squishing one more goblin while Alice proceeded to killing two others near it.

"Of course it's a good workout. But this is too much cardio...EVEN FOR ME!" Hendrickson added.

"Just wait a while longer. We'll eventually get enough attention." Sol added.

"Yeah don't be such a wuss." Nathan taunted.

"I'm not!" Hendrickson screamed.

It wasn't like this objection wasn't justified. There was just so much fighting that the group could handle. They couldn't even ease down on their efforts because the enemies had them greatly outnumbered.

They needed to continue fighting while keeping an eye out for possible surprise attacks. They needed to move based on what their opponents would do and, the mental strain of having to think about all these things were weighing heavily on them. Draining them more and more.

There were also goblins forming up on top of the walls. But this were taken care of by Cinder's phoenix. It also continued burning the other flying type monsters. Yet even this creature couldn't last forever because, the longer it was up, the more mana it also consumed.

Sol's team was far from winning. In fact, even the ones stationed on the exit were finally having a hard time as some hound riding goblins circled around just to kill them. Jade was the one to take care of these. Actually setting up thin layers of green flames almost transparent ones.

As soon as the goblins passed through these, they caught fire. And in a minute's worth of time, even these got killed.

"Just a little longer guys." Sol said.

"You keep on saying that leader. I'm starting to question your sense of time." Hendrickson replied.

"Trust me, they're about to increase exponentially."

"Yeah right, you're not a prophet..."

As soon as Hendrickson gave this reply, Sol's words came true. A nearby wall broke down and, out of it came even more goblins. With mammoths that stomped the ground and made it quake with their every move. With goblin shamans and healers also mixed in this. Releasing spell after spell as they also healed the injured goblins.

"You were saying?" Alice commented to the embarrassed Hendrickson after Sol's words were proven true.

"That's the sign right leader?" Nathaniel added.

"Yeah. Go back to the exit now!" Sol commanded, with the offensive unit being more than willing to comply. As they did, they each took out five grenades hidden on their cloaks. Removing the safety pins and throwing these at the horde of monsters running after them.

"Nathan!" He then said, with the flame user standing up on the direwolf he was riding. Releasing flames that crept on his hand as he released his hurricane of blue flames on the goblins. Burning all of those unfortunate enough to be caught in its wake.

It was finally time for the final moment of the fight. Where the enemies were going to get wiped out though AoE attacks. Even the phoenix helped in this. Creating one more blast of blue flames as it flapped its wings, moving towards Jade who was waiting for it.

"It just has to be my move every time huh." The wielder of green flames said as he prepared overheat.

"Well it is the most destructive." Cain commented, preparing his rail cannon and shouting "MOVE!" as soon as it was fully charged.

Sol and the others weaved to the side, opening a path in the middle which Cain immediately took. Shooting his weapon that generated a thin thread of lightning which then crackled into the sound of thunder as it made impact. Expanding into another spiral of white light and immense wind that caught even Nathan's hurricane of flames. Increasing its strength and range as it continued blazing on.

"That's just as promising though." Jade said in reply as Cain chuckled.

"It's not my powers though." Was the void citizen's reply.

With the hurricane of flames being released, more parts of the base caught fire. The monsters naturally moved away from this. Allowing parts of their base to catch fire. That is, except for a single location. One on the distant left side of the area.

"Found you." Sol thought as he and his allies waited for Nathan's ultimate skill to wear off. Once again cutting down the number of enemies.

Both Cain and Nathan were out of ammunition. Nathan's mana was completely out. Meanwhile, Cain used up all of his as he fired bullet after bullet, And with his rail cannon being used for the second time, the mana bullets were also completely depleted. His bombs were also the ones utilized by the group, leaving him with only his melee weapons and his support items.

As for both Alice and Hendrickson, continuously having to fight the enemies in short range added to their mental strain. They could still fight but, were not on top shape anymore and Cinder was far from being able to help.

Just as Sol indicated. They were really going to deplete most of what they had in that fight. Even his own body has been greatly taxed as well as his mana. But all of this effort and sacrifice was not put in vain because, at that moment, they've finally wiped out most of the monsters.

Again, there were more monsters that came out, filling the spot of all that burned to death. But Jade was ready for this. The final cleanup of the fight lay on his shoulders after all.

"Don't hit the structure on the left." Sol commanded, standing right next to the fire user.

"Just that?"

"Yeah. You can burn everything else."

"Roger that. Oh and, you guys should probably stand on the exit." Jade said, his green flames beginning to surround him. The other members gladly took up the offer he made as Jade walked up a few more steps. His hands were already covered by his flames and, every step he made left a footprint of flames.

In front of him was probably the last wave of monsters. These were just as many as the ones killed by Nathan and Cain's combined efforts. But this didn't matter. Their numbers didn't amount to much in front of the wielder of Jade. The same person who finally stopped walking and raised both his arms as he released:

"Overheat!"

The green flames released only lasted for ten seconds. But this was solely because of the size of the output. Jade covered the entirety of the enemy's base. The whole kilometer's worth of distance. And because of this, all the mana he stored got taken out much quicker.

The flames were nevertheless as potent as ever. Staying true to its title of being the strongest flames, Jade burned everything. Not even the bones could be distinguished anymore and, what little metal was left from the weapons and armors of the monsters were already indistinguishable. With their structure being melted.

"I hate to be the one receiving that." Cain mentioned.

"I couldn't agree more." Nathan added.

With this, the group was finally finished dealing with all of the monsters that were out. Most of the monster base was burned down. Creating an opening which other monsters could easily pass through. But it didn't matter because, as soon as they got what it was that was hidden by the goblins, they were going to teleport the materials out of the location. But, things suddenly escalated as a creature loomed in the distance, one which flew directly above them.

"You've gotta be kidding me." Hendrickson commented as a gigantic monster jumped off of the flying creature. Creating a strong tremor as it made impact on the ground.

Right there and then, Alice knew that it was trouble. But it was far from the level of the dragon. Meaning, she was still capable of fighting as her [Danger Sense] didn't punish her much.

"That's probably the leader of the goblins." Sol commented. Seeing a giant shadow form from the thick amount of dust which obscured their vision. The creature's eyes glowing red as if in rage.

"Do we run away leader?"Nathan asked, having a deja vu of the encounter in the forest.

"No, that isn't needed." Sol said dismounting and taking out his Void Sword as he announced.

I'm gonna fight it on my own."
