Chapter 50
“Hurry, run!”
Xie Xinglin followed behind her with a faint expression. After hearing her words, one of his eyebrows raised slightly, making his whole person appearing somewhat careless, as if even if he knew there was a director behind him, he still wouldn’t have had much of a reaction.
His eyelashes drooped and his gaze fell on the panicking person before him who was clutching his hand.
The girl’s hand was born small as they encircled his wrist with difficulty. The nails were round and cute, with a milky crescent on top.
The temperature of her palm was a little warm. It was attached to his wrist bone and after a while of being in contact, the skins that were touching began to heat up.
She apparently wasn’t aware of how this might be inappropriate as she pulled him along towards the end of the corridor, where the flights of stairs were located.
They hesitated for a moment at the fork in the stairs before they staggered along downstairs.
The footsteps of the director followed behind closely. The beam of the flashlight was like a shadow following the body as it shone down.
“Which class are you two from! If you stop now, you can still receive some leniency!”
Su Qiuge, who was up ahead, rolled her eyes when she heard this.
Leniency??
There’ll be ghosts before she’ll believe him.
If they were caught, it is estimated that Yang Xue will be invited to drink tea.
When she thought of this, one of her feet almost stepped on air as she wasn’t paying attention. Xie Xinglin, who was behind her, held onto her waist to help steady her.
She typically wore her school uniform jacket that functioned like a complete vacuum as it prevented her figure from being seen. But the waist that came into contact with his palm was both slender and soft, as if it will break after one pinch.
It felt surprisingly good on the hand.
Currently, the campus was quiet as it was nighttime. When they passed through the stairwell, they caught a glimpse of the sky full of bright moonlight and scattered stars.
Su Qiuge had run halfway when an idea suddenly occurred to her. She pulled him onto a fire escape.
She breathed a sigh of relief after not hearing any footsteps following them.
This director truly was exceptionally dedicated to catching those engaging in puppy love. He actually chased them the entire way.
She was gasping for breaths as she lamented, “God, that was too frightening. I feel like tonight was like a campus battle royale.”
Xie Xinglin didn’t respond as his gaze fell on their hands that were still holding one another.
Su Qiuge quickly let go after noticing this.
Xie Xinglin faintly raised his eyebrows when he saw how she had so straightforwardly thrown his hand away.
Then, he slowly raised his eyes and looked at Su Qiuge with pitch-black eyes. His eyes shone lightly with interest as he unhurriedly opened his mouth, “Why run?”
Su Qiuge: “Ah?”
Xie Xinglin was silent for a moment. After what felt like half a day, he bent forward slightly and pressed one hand against the fire escape wall behind her.
She was relatively petit when compared to him, so it was only when he bent over like this that their eyesights were leveled.
Xie Xinglin raised his eyes slightly and said with a casual tone, “Are we a couple?”
Su Qiuge replied very straightforwardly, “Of course——”
“Not.”
Xie Xinglin let out a soft “ah,” then lowered his eyes to look at her. He curled his lips and asked, “So why do you have a guilty conscience?”
Su Qiuge: “……”
That makes sense.
At that time, she was incredibly nervous and she didn’t know why.
She wasn’t having an affair, so why was she so flustered?
Now that she thought about it, maybe if they had just tried to earnestly explain to the director that the two of them were only discussing class material, then they wouldn’t have had to spend so much time and effort to escape.
Xie Xinglin appeared as if he wanted to say something, but Su Qiuge suddenly caught a glimpse of the light of a flashlight coming from outside of the passage.
She was taken aback and without thinking, stood on her tiptoes to tightly cover Xie Xinglin’s mouth with her hands.
Anyways, no matter what could’ve been, if they were caught now, it’d be over.
“Shh——”
The sound of footsteps came from the other side and the gleam of the flashlight roamed all over the area, as if trying to find the young couple hidden in some unknown corner.
Director Xu’s mouth cursed as he talked, “I can see you, stop hiding!”
