"You should be the one worrying about yourself!"
Ashley executed a backflip to dodge the nauseating veins, then quickly turned around, firing several web shots at Zombie Spider-Man. However, all of them were easily avoided by him.
After becoming a zombie, Spider-Man had gained even more flexibility than before. Now, he could contort his body into any position, as if he were a human action figure.
He could even rotate his head completely and smile while doing so.
"Useless, little one~"
Zombie Spider-Man chuckled, quickly closing the distance between himself and Ashley, reaching out with an intent to grab her.
But as soon as he extended his hand, he was met with a sharp set of teeth, causing him to retract his hand in fright.
"Oh, my, still as rough as ever, old friend?"
At the moment Zombie Spider-Man was about to strike, Venom's head suddenly emerged from Ashley's chest. It opened its massive mouth and lunged at him.
With Zombie Spider-Man forced back, Venom gave a cold smile.
"You're no old friend of mine. The person I remember wouldn't be so easily corrupted by such a small virus. As long as I'm here, you won't touch a hair on Ashley."
"Ugh! How touching~"
Zombie Spider-Man laughed hysterically, his face beneath the shattered mask filled with mockery. He launched into a relentless assault, pushing both Ashley and Venom back with each blow.
"Who would've thought that my greatest enemy would one day protect my granddaughter? This scene is almost too unbelievable. But the truth is, Venom, you seem to have forgotten that we've crossed paths too many times. Your weaknesses are far too obvious!"
As he spoke, Zombie Spider-Man threw a punch with full force.
"Fire!"
Ashley struggled to block it.
"Sound!"
Zombie Spider-Man threw another punch with full power.
"And I don't even need to exploit your weaknesses!"
Venom's symbiote suit quivered slightly. Ashley, facing Zombie Spider-Man's storm of attacks, could only dodge and defend frantically.
"You're too weak, little girl. You're not even worthy of having my blood flowing through you!"
With a powerful punch, he struck Ashley in the abdomen, sending her flying through the air and crashing hard into a ruined wall.
"Ugh!"
A mouthful of blood sprayed out as Ashley clutched her stomach, struggling to stand up.
"Are you alright, kid?" Venom growled, already doing his best to help Ashley recover, though the pain was inevitable.
"It's nothing."
Ashley fought to steady herself, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth. Her gaze toward Zombie Spider-Man was now filled with murderous intent.
"Haha, did you see that? That's our biggest difference. You're too weak. A proper Spider-Man would never have such terrible strength and speed. Honestly, are you sure you're my child?"
Zombie Spider-Man laughed maniacally, mocking her.
"You should really look in the mirror, or get a DNA test. Oh, never mind, if I were you, I'd definitely hide in a gutter to avoid embarrassing the Spider family."
Hearing his words, Ashley's fists clenched tighter, her nails digging into her palms, even tearing through her skin from the force.
"Don't listen to him, Ashley. He's trying to mess with your emotions. Don't let him distract you." Venom, as one with Ashley, could feel her emotional state.
"..."
But this time, Ashley didn't respond.
Her eyes rapidly scanned her surroundings, her pupils darting from place to place, analyzing the environment and the terrain. Meanwhile, her mind raced, calculating rapidly.
Ignoring Zombie Spider-Man's taunts, Ashley's gaze eventually locked onto a distant stone monument.
Just as Zombie Spider-Man was about to launch his next attack with endless chatter, Ashley suddenly sprang into action. She raised her hand and shot out a web aimed directly at Spider-Man's head.
"Too slow!"
Zombie Spider-Man executed a side flip, easily dodging the web and then swiftly retaliating.
Ashley didn't dare to slack off. She leapt into the air, quickly releasing more webs. This time, however, the webs aimed at different positions, making it seem as though she had missed on purpose.
"Where do you think you're attacking?"
Zombie Spider-Man sneered, glancing at the direction where Ashley had released her webs. The mockery in his eyes deepened.
"When I was using webs, you didn't even know where to start. You really think you can use this method against me? Don't you know that this is just the leftovers I've played with?!"
As he spoke, Zombie Spider-Man leaped into the air, performing a horizontal flip. In the next moment, the webs around him began to retract, quickly closing in from all directions to encircle him.
But Zombie Spider-Man's speed was too fast, and he easily spotted the weaknesses in Ashley's trap, effortlessly avoiding it.
"Useless!"
Back in the day, Peter Parker used these exact methods to defeat supervillains, and now, seeing Ashley try to use the same tactics on him, Zombie Spider-Man couldn't help but laugh coldly.
"You can't defeat a real Spider-Man this way. You're just a poor imitation, clumsily copying my fighting style. In fact, you're not even worthy of being my granddaughter, and you certainly don't deserve such a great grandfather!"
Flipping and leaping continuously, Zombie Spider-Man moved with the grace of a perfect gymnast. Every web trap set by Ashley was easily avoided by his smooth and fluid movements.
The webs didn't even touch the edges of his clothes, and none of them posed any real threat, not even causing the slightest trouble.
Zombie Spider-Man could even taunt her while evading.
After avoiding the last web trap, Zombie Spider-Man swung high into the air, spinning to face Ashley's position.
"This is over, little one."
"Yeah, it's over."
Ashley stood beside the ruins, holding the last web in her hand.
It was a web fixed to a stone monument. As Ashley pulled it taut, it became incredibly tight. In her other hand, she held a straight leg bone.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
At the tip of the bone, a silver arrowhead gleamed with a flash of light.
Zombie Spider-Man furrowed his brow, a sense of unease creeping into his mind.
This arrow was clearly something Ashley had just crafted, and given the scattered bones around her, finding the right piece wasn't difficult.
As for the arrowhead, the broken necklace cord on the ground indicated that this was something Ashley always carried with her.
"I really shouldn't have tried to imitate your fighting style. In fact, I never considered myself a part of the Spider family. Thank you for helping me solidify this decision."
She strung the bow and aimed the arrow directly at Zombie Spider-Man in mid-air.
"By the way, I forgot to tell you… my father..."
Whoosh—!
"Is Hawkeye!"
At that moment, Zombie Spider-Man finally panicked.
Perhaps it was because the zombie virus had interfered with his Spider-Sense, or maybe he had simply never taken this little girl seriously.
"No!!"
But it was too late for regrets. The zombie Spider-Man, suspended in mid-air, had no way to dodge. He couldn't even track the trajectory of the arrow in time to avoid it.
"You can't do this, I'm your..."
With a sudden lunge, he tried to launch his own venomous tendril, but the arrow's speed was faster.
There was a dull thud as the arrowhead, gleaming coldly, pierced through Zombie Spider-Man's chest and continued with unyielding force, puncturing his brainstem.
This immediately silenced the rest of Zombie Spider-Man's sentence forever.
Inserting an object into a zombie's head and piercing the brainstem was enough to kill any zombie, which was the method Zombie Spider-Man had once shared with Kitty Pryde (Shadow Cat) in the original story.
"My dad has killed Hulk and Thor in other universes!"
Watching Zombie Spider-Man's limp body fall from the sky, crashing to the ground like a pile of mush, Ashley gritted her teeth, cursing with hate.
"Take a good look at my Adamantium-tipped arrow, you (beep)!"
