Chapter 45: Immortal Bones
A young boy with pretty features, baby fat, stood at the entrance of the Silver Dragon. He had long, silvery-white hair that flowed down to his ankles, and he yawned with closed eyes.
Someone cast a shadow on him. He opened his eyes and saw a tall young man standing straight and tall before him. The young man looked like a piece of jade, a type of person who would stand out from a crowd of ten thousand. It was none other than Xie Yang.
Xie Yang stared at the young boy and felt an odd feeling assaulting him. Although there was nothing abnormal happening in his vision, Xie Yang couldn't deny that he was able to sense something sticky and gluey clinging to his flesh, trying to permeate his inner self. He shook his hand, but it didn't fall off.
Xie Yang felt familiar with this bizarre situation.
'When did I experience it before?'
'I haven't encountered anything unusual like this situation in this life. Then, I must have felt this odd sensation in my past life!'
Xie Yang thought back to his past life and realized that he felt the same in the presence of the chief commander of the first squad, The Spirit Lord of White Peonies!
The Spirit Lord of White Peonies was half a spirit and half a immortal and was born in the spirit world.
He had immortal bones, due to which anyone who looked at him would feel themselves getting suppressed.
Of course, the owner of immortal bones could make it so others won't feel suppressed, but for that, they would need to have control over their power and also know that they've immortal bones and not some type of curse that makes others feel awful because of looking at them.
'This person has immortal bones?!'
'I should confirm my guess.'
The young boy felt weirded out by his gaze that was turning intense and stepped away.
Before the other could feel offended by his gaze, Xie Yang asked the young boy whether the clinic was accepting customers or not.
Without saying a word, the young boy pointed at the green sign dangling on the tall and wide wooden door, which indicated that the clinic was open for business.
Xie Yang looked at the boy with a pondering look.
The young boy felt his gaze on him and stared back with eyes that asked, 'Why are you looking at me? Have you never seen a silver-haired person?!'
Xie Yang pieced together bits of information he gained from interacting with the young boy and realized something.
"You can't talk?"
The young boy rolled his eyes at him, a look of annoyance obvious on his fat and chubby face.
'Has he misunderstood something?' Xie Yang wondered after seeing the boy's bewildering reaction.
The mute boy had indeed misunderstood him.
'Is he here to make fun of me?'
'Well, guess what? I am not going to amuse you!'
The young boy took a small notebook and a brush that used spiritual energy as ink from his inner sleeve. Then, he started writing something on the paper.
"What are you writing?" Xie Yang asked.
The young boy didn't reply.
He finished writing first and then flashed the paper with the words at Xie Yang.
"I will take you inside."
After showing him those words, the young boy turned around, opened the door to the clinic, and went inside. Xie Yang shook his head before following after him. He led him to a place with a few clerks and some customers and patients.
Xie Yang looked around and thought, 'It's still early in the morning, yet here it is already somewhat crowded. The silver dragon clinic must be famous among the locals.'
'Huh?'
After looking around, he noticed that the person who led him was no longer there.
'Where did the young boy go?'
'He must have run away when I was distracted.'
'But why did he run away?'
'Ah!'
Xie Yang realized why the boy had snuck away from this place while gazing around.
'I wanted to inspect him and see if he had the immortal bones, but it looks he wasted my good intentions!'
'He must have mistaken me for a rotten egg.'
'Young people these days, they really get frightened easily, and they also like to misunderstand others a lot.'
'Immortal bones, only crossbreeds between human-immortals and spirits can have them. People with these bones attract tribulations in each realm, but they also have bodies with capabilities almost matching the Yang Divine Physique and the Yin Divine Physique. The offsetting feeling is one thing, but they can also make the movement of others sluggish with just a gaze.
At a high level, they can make their opponent feel like they are in a mud swamp and getting sucked by it. A body with immortal bones is truly bizarre. Even though the boy had offended me by judging me wrong, I can't give up on cultivating a possible rarely seen genius as my subordinate.'
'Since I can't find him here, I should first do what I came here for first. I will look for him and inspect his bone type later.'
Xie Yang wore a white robe and had a golden pin tied to his long hair. His skin was white, the type only a rich young master who had maids and servants to take of him would have. His back and nose were straight, and he gave off a confident air.
The head clerk at the clinic saw him and thought that he must be a young master of some high-class family.
He angrily scolded the stupid clerks who were serving others and not taking care of Xie Yang in his mind before he walked up to Xie Yang to attend to him.
"Young noble, why are you here?"
"I want to sell some herbs."
The head clerk: "…."
The young ladies in the surroundings, who were here to get the newly released skin ointment of the silver dragon clinic, were admiring Xie Yang's figure and face and wealth, but when they heard that he was here to sell herbs, their interest in him diminished rapidly.
