Chapter 287 - 283: Confidentiality Agreement
Chapter 287: Chapter 283: Confidentiality Agreement
“Frost Wolf, use Frostbite!”
“Fire Claw Sparrow, use Fire Claw!”
“Great Sun Flower, use Leaf Cutter!”
One week after the distribution of the Spirit-Control Orbs as well as the free pets was over, the fever for them continued to surge. The streets of Gusu City were teeming with Spirit Controllers battling their pets in temporary battlefields.
These individuals, who had initially had no hope of forming a pact with a pet, were experiencing the thrill of commanding a pet in battle for the first time. They would have battled day and night if not for the fear of lowering their pets’ affection for them.
Nonetheless, this didn’t prevent them from expressing their gratitude and admiration toward Bai Qi, the inventor of the Spirit-Control Orb.
Bai Qi!
A sophomore who had managed to change their perceptions of Beast Control multiple times. If the invention of Rune Evolution, which had only impacted the Undead Department and thus had caused only a slight sensation, then with the advent of the Spirit-Control Orb, Bai Qi had truly become a household name in the Federation.
The most direct manifestation of this was the erection of Bai Qi’s portrait on the Wall of Fame at Star Mechanics Academy.
“Water, fire, plant. Those are indeed the classic attributes for Beast Masters,” Bai Qi wrapped himself up warmly and watched the three pets battling on the battlefield, which were almost all of the same kind.
Although he complained about the lack of creativity, these three attributes were indeed the most chosen among Beast Masters. Thus, it wasn’t inappropriate for the association to distribute them to the Spirit Controllers.
However, they were only Servant Level pets; the Association seemed rather conservative.
Frost Wolf, the pre-evolved form of the Arctic Ice Wolf and of a similarly cool temperament. Fire Claw Sparrow and Great Sun Flower were no different, all being mild species, and their evolved forms were no exception.
But that was actually a good thing. Pets trained from a lower level were less likely to rebel when they grew stronger. Otherwise, the number of strayed pets in the Federation would increase.
“Hey, did you hear? The first Spirit Controller Contest co-organized by the Wuhou Dojo and the Beast Master Association will be held in three days. The winner will receive a mystery prize. Hurry up and sign up!”
“Damn, a Spirit Controller Contest? Can I show off my skills there?”
“Howbrazen! Dare to be so bold in my presence!”
Spirit Controller Contest? The Wuhou Corporation sure responded quickly.
Hearing the chatter around him, Bai Qi smiled faintly. He summoned Delta and headed straight for the Association, watching the many Spirit Controllers scrambling towards the Association.
“Wind God Winged Dragon? Damn, I was actually standing next to the big shot without even realizing!”
“Congratulations, you can donate your eyes. Oh wait, no one might even want them.”
“Tsk, I merely brushed past Bai Qi. Why are you guys so excited?”
“Then why are you standing where the big shot was just standing?”
“Hehe… Maybe I can soak in some of the big shot’s aura, it might help with training.”
“23333…”
Beast Master Association.
Bai Qi arrived at the Association’s conference room without any issue and just bumped into President Qin and Luo Xiang on their way out.
“Impressive, Bai Qi, you’ve actually arrived early. It seems this Spirit Controller Contest will end perfectly.”
President Qin glanced at Bai Qi and couldn’t help but tease. Luo Xiang also smiled and added, “After all, he’s four-core drive now, his efficiency should be higher than before.”
“Please go easy on me, you two.”
Upon hearing their words, Bai Qi smiled wryly.
Thanks to Delta’s Void Echo, Wind God Winged Dragon could travel from the Bai Villa to the Association in just a little time. Bai Qi even had some leisure time to roam around.
However, his unusual early arrival led to him being teased. It seemed he should aim to arrive just in time in the future.
“Alright, no more teasing.”
Seeing Bai Qi’s expression, President Qin didn’t push it any further. “You’ve heard about the first Spirit Controller Contest, right?”
“I heard about it on my way here. The announcement came quicker than I expected.”
Bai Qi nodded. Zhuge Chen had mentioned it before, but Bai Qi didn’t think it would come this quickly. He initially thought they would ride the wave of the Spirit-Control Orbs a little longer.
“No choice, someone started a ruckus again.”
President Qin rolled his eyes irritably. “Zhuge Xu has been to see me. Your Rune Mechanical Armour has obtained the strong support of the Machinery and Rune Departments, and initial production has already begun at Wuhou Corporation’s subsidiary-right?”
“Well, Wuhou Corporation is moving quickly.”
Upon hearing this, Bai Qi scratched his head. A week ago, when he had given the basic structure of the Rune Mechanical Armour to Professor Dong and Professor Chu, he hadn’t asked about it again. He had been hiding away at the Secret Realm Base, furiously learning through inhaling the Dreamland vapors from the insects.
If it weren’t for Schuck reminding him to check if there were any matters to deal with, he would probably still be sleeping at the base.
“I knew it, you’re getting better and better at delegating.”
President Qin sighed and said, “Your Rune Mechanical Armour has finally fulfilled Professor Chu’s long-held wish. He has teamed up with Professor Dong to help you apply for the patent. This time, it should not be a core patent. It should be classified under the first-tier patents of Rune mechanical devices.” “However, I estimate that the profit from the Rune Evolution Armament may exceed all your previous patents.”
President Qin patted Bai Qi on the shoulder, saying, “In a while, the Thirteenth Bureau is coming over to discuss the supply issue of Rune Mechanical Armour. You might become the youngest military armament designer in Federation history.”
“Applied for a patent again?”
Bai Qi smacked his lips and casually nodded his head.
Things like patents were just about earning more money. Bai Qi expressed that he had lost interest in small fortunes. It would be better to give him two pieces of mythical resources.
Well, speaking of which, would the Thirteenth Bureau bring over Beta’s mythical resource when they came over this time, which would allow him to give the pets a boost?
“You really are…”
Seeing this, President Qin sighed and walked into the conference room first, saying, “Before the people from the Thirteenth Bureau arrive, I want to discuss the Spirit Controller Battle Competition with you.”
“Spirit Controller Battle Competition?”
Upon hearing this, Bai Qi was stunned. A bad premonition rose in his heart, and his face fell even further after hearing President Qin’s words.
“As the developer of the Spirit Control Orb, you are definitely participating in the first Spirit Controller Battle Competition in Federation history. So, I have discussed with Zhuge Xu and we have put you in the referee team.”
“Don’t worry, you just need to preside over the final battle and the final award ceremony.”
Seeing President Qin with a look of “I have considered everything for you”, Bai Qi sighed helplessly, saying, “Well then, can I refuse?”
“What do you think?”
Abrilliant smile appeared on President Qin’s face, and he pointed to Luo Xiang next him, saying, “Since Gusu City is the first city to host the Spirit Controller Battle Competition, both the Beast Master Association and the Federation have sent representatives. Well, Luo Xiang, like you, is also in the referee group. You have company.”
Luo Xiang walked over to Bai Qi and said with a smile, “To be honest, though I knew it was inevitable, I did not expect us to become colleagues so soon. It seems like the burden on my shoulders will soon fall onto yours.”
“Thank you…”
Bai Qi glanced at both of them wordlessly. Suddenly he remembered something and asked, “What about the Federation? Is the Thirteenth Bureau coming?” “For a competition of historical significance like this, the Thirteenth Bureau will naturally participate.”
Just then, a familiar voice came from the door. Bai Qi turned his head and found that it wasn’t anyone else but Yi Yu himself.
“Minister Yi, long time no see.”
As a greeting, President Qin nodded at Yi Yu, and then gestured him to sit down. “Sorry, I ran into some issues on the way, so I am a bit late.”
Yi Yu bowed slightly to a few people with an expression of regret, then looked at Luo Xiang and said, “Master Luo, I didn’t get the chance to thank you for the last time at the Emperor’s Secret Realm, I didn’t expect to meet you here.”
“It was just a mission, no need to thank me.”
Luo Xiang responded with a slight smile, and then stepped aside, leaving Bai Qi to take the center stage. Yi Yu also didn’t want to beat around the bush. He directly took out a metal box and handed it to Bai Qi, saying, “Here is the mythical resource I promised to give you, Bai Qi. With this, our deal is complete.”
Sure enough, the mythical resource has been brought over!
Looking at the box Yi Yu had pushed toward him, Bai Qi’s eyes lit up. He directly accepted it, and was about to give it a look when he suddenly realized that the eyes of the three people in the conference room were all focused on him. He felt slightly awkward, scratched his head, held back his curiosity, and put it away. Seeing this, Yi Yu didn’t find it strange. He smiled and said, “Now that the transaction is over, let’s return to the main matter.”
“This time, in addition to representing the Thirteenth Bureau to participate in the first Spirit Controller Battle Competition in Gusu City, I also represent Director Wang to inquire about your views on the production and selling responsibility of the Spirit-Control Orb.”
“However, when I left, according to Xia Yan, it seems that you, Bai Qi, have already made a choice?”
Bai Qi nodded his head. Given the relationship between Xia’s Group and the Thirteenth Bureau, they must have communicated in advance. Now they were asking him just to go through the procedure.
“In that case, I will report as it is. Next, there is another matter.”
With a serious look on his face, Yi Yu took out a document and solemnly handed it to Bai Qi.
“Director Wang takes the matter of Rune Mechanical Armour very seriously and hopes to include it in the Federation Military’s military industrial product list. Considering the current situation of the Federation, we need you to sign a confidentiality agreement.”
“A confidentiality agreement?”
Looking at Yi Yu with bewilderment, Bai Qi saw that both President Qin and Luo Xiang had a look of understanding on their faces, as if they had anticipated this. “That’s right, the Rune Mechanical Armour has entered the field of warfare. So, we can’t disclose your identity like we did with the Spirit-Control Orb. It would attract too much attention from the tribes.”
Yi Yu nodded, handed Bai Qi another stack of documents, and said, “Just to be safe, we have created a false identity for you to apply for the patent for the Rune Mechanical Armour. We also have colleagues going to handle the other people in the know.”
“But we, the Thirteenth Bureau, can only try to limit the spread of this information. You, Bai Qi, still need to be cautious.”
As Bai Qi listened to what Yi Yu was saying, a look of surprise gradually appeared on his face.
Why does it feel like the situation is getting out of hand?
