Chapter 237: Chapter 96: The Deceptive Demon Head Li_2
Dark Scale, the day my Beast Taming Space reaches the ninth rank will be the day you submit!
...
"Guardian Beast Co-operation, you think you're worthy?"
As Li Hong's contemptuous words spread throughout the entire floating transport, the scene once again fell into dead silence.
Each person seated here was a freshman at Mountain City University.
Having gained admission into one of the top-ranking Beast Tamer Universities of the alliance, each one of them had their own pride.
And now, their pride was crushed into the dirt by a few dismissive comments from Li Hong.
All of them were teenagers, hot-blooded and prone to impulse. Almost immediately after Li Hong's words fell, a number of them suddenly stood up.
One of them, in particular, turned red with anger, glaring at Li Hong, "We are not cowards! What gives you the right to say we're not fit for Guardian Beast Co-operation in battle?"
"You do have a certain boldness about you," Li Hong locked eyes directly with the boy who had shouted, his expression still composed, "You have the courage to challenge me, but not the courage to go onto the battlefield and slaughter a few dozen beasts?"
"You!" the boy glared, his expression becoming even more furious.
"Stay quiet now!" Without paying further attention to the boy, Li Hong barked, "I said you can ask your questions after I finish speaking. Did it go in one ear and out the other?"
The atmosphere temporarily quieted down. With the coaxing of other classmates, the angrily triggered students gradually sat back down, but from the way people looked at Li Hong it was clear that strong dissatisfaction still lingered in their hearts, many harbored resentment towards the man who they felt had deceived them onto the battlefield.
"The training schedule for the preparatory camp is divided into three parts. The first half-month will be conducted at the rear headquarters beyond the reach of the rules of the beast academy, where various instructors will provide you with tactical special training," Li Hong spoke as if the previous arguments and noise had never happened, ignoring the angry gazes of the freshmen.
"In the latter half of the month, having completed the special training, you will carry out a preparatory camp combat mission in the form of combat teams. After the thirty-day preparatory camp training, you will complete the final assessment task in the form of combat squads, with both tasks taking place within the border battlefront area."
"Let me explain briefly the meaning of combat squads and combat teams," Li Hong continued, "After entering the preparatory camp, you will be divided into combat squads consisting of ten people each, with every ten combat squads forming a combat team."
"Each combat squad has an instructor responsible for supervising the daily training within the squad. You can think of it like a high school homeroom teacher. Besides this, other instructors from the same combat team will take turns teaching their specialties to other squads, which you can think of as subject teachers."
"Did you understand that?" Once the explanation was finished, Li Hong's voice suddenly rose.
"Understood~" From their seats, a few sparse responses came through.
With Li Hong's explanation, the expressions of many had changed.
It seemed the situation was not quite what they had imagined.
Wasn't it said that they would be sent to the battlefield?
Yet, there was a full half-month of training to be done at the rear.
It seemed... not as bad as they had thought?
At this, the originally agitated mood experienced a slight shift. Although many students were still very resistant to going to the battlefield, at least the tension that was sharp as drawn swords had been somewhat diffused.
Now they were at least able to calm down and continue to listen to Li Hong speak.
"Ha!" Li Hong snorted coldly, guessing their thoughts from the change in their expressions, "What? You think our alliance's border military is so short-staffed that we need to deceive some cannon fodder into battle? Even if you don't trust us, at least have faith in the alliance!"
"A bunch of fools," Li Hong shook his head, "To tell the truth, for the current battles on the border, the only thing you could probably do right now is to get in the way."
"Sending you out to fight now would do nothing but increase the burden! If you don't believe me, when you get there you can ask those who have fought bloodied battles. See if they welcome you!"
"I said you would go to the battlefield, but I never said you'd go straight there from the transport car," Li Hong huffed, "Impulsive! Anxious! Not calm in the face of issues! Only listening to half of what's said! Full of yourselves! With your current mental state, going to the battlefield would mean certain death!"
"For the next half-month, prepare to shed a layer of skin in training!" his expression turned cold, "I see there are quite a few among you who don't wish to go to the battlefield. That's very simple."
What?
It's possible not to go to the battlefield?
The crowd blinked.
That's not what you just said though?
"If you're bad enough, you can do nothing!" Li Hong's eyes flashed with a hint of mockery, "I've said you've lost the right to quit, but it seems I never said you had to go to the battlefield, did I?"
"If you fail to meet the instructors' requirements within this half-month, you'll lose the qualification to participate in the upcoming battlefield preparatory camp missions and the final assessment tasks, and naturally, you will not have to go to the battlefield."
With a cold chuckle, Li Hong added, "I'm responsible for the safety of the frontline soldiers. If you cannot meet even the most basic requirements, then remain a good-for-nothing and don't drag others down. Those valiant combatants, who have earned their honors in battle, would find it a waste to die on the battlefield just to protect worthless people like you."
