Chapter 39 - She would insntall corpses in Tang Enterprise!
Su Lanfen was crying. Her face had a hand printed on it. Her father had slapped her just the moment she entered his study.
"Why can’t you learn from your cousins? Have you ever seen them take such a stupid step like this?"
"But father she insulted me. Which means she insulted Su family."
"Shut up!" Su Donghai didn’t know how to get the situation under control. "Tell me truthfully. Did you get those people killed?"
Su Lanfen’s eyes widened.
"No, father. I didn’t", she cried, "Father even you would ask that? Don’t you trust me?"
"The stupidity you have done; I am ashamed to say that you are even my daughter. Not only you have ruined your reputation to the point of no return you’ve also damaged your profession. We all want the same thing. To get Jing Lihua down. But have you ever seen anyone of us take such irrational measures? Even she could be deheated like that we would have long defeated her long ago." Su Lanfen was really giving him a headache. Why could she not be like Su Liwei?
Su Lanfen sobbed. She didn’t dare to raise her voice in objection in front of her father.
"You know what is going to happen next? The drama you created in the restaurant; everybody is going to think it was you who did that. It is not a single murder that can be resolved easily. It is a massacre. The whole media, from all around the world, has been watching closely."
"F-Father...", Su Lanfen was scared, "It must be Jing Lihua. She must have done it to frame me"
Su Donghai couldn’t tell if she was Jing Lihua or not. He wouldn’t say something with certainty without carrying out an investigation. But it could be a possibility that it was Jing Lihua’s scheme. After all, Jing Lihua couldn’t cause any serious damage to Su Lanfen unless she took extreme measures. She knew that. Relying on her sources, she couldn’t harm Su Lanfen when Su Lanfen had Su family behind her in any other way.
Such a malicious wench! Su Donghai was determined to make her pay. But right now, they were in a dangerous position.
"Listen carefully. Tomorrow, I want you to post a formal apology to Mo Liang and Jing Lihua on your official account. Give whatever excuses you can. But apologize to them both and end this drama before they take their next step and ruin you completely."
"Father no! I won’t apologize to her." How could Su Lanfen bear to humble herself in front of Jing Lihua? She would die than apologize to her!
"You want to save your profession? Then do what I ask of you. Do it before they make their next move or else I’ll immediately send you aboard and have your contract dissolved"
...
On their way to the Tang enterprise.
"Who could it be? Was it Su Lanfen?" Mei Xiu voiced what everyone was thinking.
"I don’t think it was her" Jing Lihua looked at Heng Bingwen who was dipping his head into a strange device in his lap, "Did they let you in the security room?"
"Using President’s name I managed to slip in the room easily. But I had to disconnect my device soon. I didn’t want them to get suspicious."
"Would I have to get you in the security room again?"
"No, I’ve more than enough data. I’ve already started the process to recover the files. Soon, the face of the murderer will be revealed."
"But that wouldn’t get us the real culprit behind it. Would it?"
"No, but it’ll sure give us a lead"
Jing Lihua waited for Heng Bingwen to finish his job while she contemplated all the possibilities in her mind. It was not Su Lanfen behind the murders. Jing Lihua was sure of it. Su Lanfen didn’t have a strong motive.
But why would someone else even want to target those innocent chefs? What could they have possibly done to make a powerful force kill them? Maybe they knew something that would be threatening to the person who wanted them dead. No matter how hard she thought, she couldn’t come up with any other possible reason to have them ’all’ targetted at once. Even one or two of them had offended someone then there was no need to kill them all. So that was not the possibility.
The person behind it obviously wanted to silence them all. But what could have they known?
Food... Drinks... And suddenly an idea struck Lihua’s mind:- Poison.
"Mei Xiu. Note down. Later I want you to get through the lists of guests in the restaurant and check if any one of them died or... ended up in the hospital. Also, run an investigation on the restaurant’s previous owner."
The man was suspicious. As to how he willingly sold such a high functioning restaurant to her at a relatively low price; this had always unsettled Jing Lihua. He could easily sell it at a higher price. No one would go for what he did if he hadn’t seen a greater profit in this choice. There was obviously a reason. Jing Lihua was getting more convinced that reason was connected to the murders.
Jing Lihua walked straight to her office after sending away Mei Xiu to search for the records. On her way, she could feel a strange atmosphere lingering in the air as if a ghost has just passed from the lobby. All the employees were strangely quiet and extensively focused on their tasks as if suddenly the ghost would appear from a corner and catch them red-handed if they dared to slack.
Weird.
Did something happen while she was away?
They all must have heard about the murders but that would have made them more gossipy and noisy. Why the opposite effect?
She wanted to find out that method and exploit it to make her employees work that diligently. She made a mental note to later ask Mei Xiu to investigate it. If it was the murders that had scared them into diligence, she would install corpses in the Tang enterprise to make them work like this!
Jing Lihua walked into her office and went straight for the doc.u.ments but she was halted midway when she noticed someone was sitting in the office chair.
"Who is it?"
Who dared to enter her office at his will!
The chair turned around to reveal a familiar face.
