Chapter 6 - Her redemption
Chapter 6 - Her redemption
When Jing Lihua returned to the home, she received a message.
Mo Liang: "Woah! My Xiao Hua is making quite a headlines today?"
Zhao Liying: "Xiao Hua, I’m jealous. I’m a model. I’m supposed to appear in headlines more than you. Why is it you and not me?"
Mo Liang: "Just come with me to dinner. I’m sure you’ll make the headlines tonight."
Zhao Liying: "I’m not interested in scandalous fu*kboys."
Mo Liang: "Too direct."
Mo Liang: "But still, you’ll appear in the news."
Zhao Liying: "Don’t want to end my career."
Jing Lihua wanted to say something but she was too tired after a day of dealing with things. She went straight to her bed without even changing.
The next day, everything returned to normal. The company was back at its foot again. Jing Lihua glanced at the list of the names she had encircled the other day. On down, nine more to go. She put down the list and picked up the reports.
She went through the summary of the latest five projects Mei Xiu drafted for her. Not a single project was going well. All of them were suffering losses. Jing Lihua leaned back against her chair and pinched the bridge of her nose. The projects started off well but in the middle, many small hurdles resulted in their decline. Those hurdles were created by none other than Su Liwei.
So he had been planning to bring her decline before their marriage? But this time, he’ll have to be disappointed.
Mei Xiu came in after a knock. "President, I’ve settled all the new employees. The old employees who took part in the revolt feel no grievance towards you. In fact, after Wang Yi admitted to being a spy, they felt very sorry for misjudging you. They even proposed to present a formal apology to you..."
"No need. Tell them, as long as they work hard they’ll be forgiven"
"Other than that, Zhang Min insists on keeping his own assistant. He denied the assistant assigned by the company. President, I fear it is going to be difficult to have him fed with wrong information if his assistant is not our confidant." Mei Xiu looked angry when she told about him. After she knew he was a spy, she wanted to strangle him every time she saw him.
"He is checking me" Zhang Min was a shrewd man. None less could be expected from someone ’sent’ by her so beloved husband ’Su Liwei’. "Since he saw how uninterested I was, he is now going to see tolerant I’m."
"He is testing my boundaries. The boundaries he will not cross once exercising his power in the company"
"So President, what are your boundaries going to be?" Mei Xiu looked very excited.
On second thought, working with a scary President, wasn’t that bad. It was exciting!
"Let him have his own assistant for now." She gave it a contemplating thought. "But tell him to send the assistant profile to President office. Tell him it’s only for following the proper protocol and do not mention I instructed to do so unless he creates a fuss about it. And let’s arrange for a private meeting with this ’assistant’ to see if we can bring him to our side."
"President, when are we going to expose that Zhang Min? I can’t really stand him. He dared to think that he could fool you! I can’t wait to have him exposed and see the look on his face when he realizes that he was the one being fooled all along!"
Jing Lihua laughed. Mei Xiu was as feisty as she recalled from her previous life. "Soon. First, we must use him to relay false information to our enemies. After that, once I had left him, they would make him suffer even worse for relaying false information."
By dawn, Jing Lihua went through the details of all the present five projects of the company. If all of those projects failed, she would have to sell her all her subsidiaries in other cities to pay back the debts to the bank. And this was how the downfall of the Tang enterprise had started in her last life.
After much contemplation, she worked out a plan to save three projects. But the two of them had no hope. They were bound to die. Jing Lihua decided to close those projects. She needed to make new investments fast to save her company. Jing Lihua calculated all the funds she had.
She grabbed out a small pamphlet about a real estate in Southern Beijing. There were huge acres of land. But they were far away from any settlement and the government showed no interest in expanding the city in that direction. So their price was very low. The owner of the lands was struggling to do everything to sell off those lands but there was no interested buyer.
She marked the name with her red marker. This Southern estate was going to be her redemption.
