Chapter 111: Thinking of Running Away

Chapter 111: Thinking of Running Away

But she was mildly flattered.

"Well, you're one of the most attractive men on the planet, so I understand." She rolled her tongue around her mouth thinking how to say it. "We will take it slow. You can't expect me to jump into your bed on the night of our wedding."

He raised a brow in challenge. "I could persuade you to," he said smugly.

"Just because we are not getting married for conventional reasons doesn't mean we can't enjoy each other in some aspects."

Mo Qingchen was impressed.

"Final question: what do we do if one or both of us want to separate?" Qian Meng asked. Mo Qingchen grimaced.

"You're talking about escaping before we've even started," he muttered.

"We should always cover our bases," Qian Meng shrugged.

Mo Qingchen clucked his tongue. "As this is a life-long partnership we are agreeing to, we need to make sure the other is well compensated for breaking the contract."

Qian Meng looked at him deviously. "What will you give me if you tap out?"

"What do you want?" he asked.

"You'll give me whatever I want?" she asked, surprised.

"Yes, I took the first step, so I should show my commitment." His words were strong and it gave her courage.

"This house," she said simply.

He was taken aback. "This house? Why, though?"

"I like it. I always dreamt of something like this. If I ever had a place to call home, it would be something like this. And I like it… Here, I feel… good."

It was a feeling she had when she laid her eyes on it. It was the feeling she had as she walked through the rooms and entered his office.

"Then you can have if I ask for a separation. And what are you willing to give to me?" he asked curiously.

"I'll let you have the choice. Reciprocation is the key to a successful relationship." She placed her elbows on the table and then rested her chin on the back of her hand.

Wickedness swept over him and Qian Meng felt her smile drop.

"Remember the piece of land you bought in the rural area?" he smiled a devious smile.

"Not fair! I only asked for this house and you asked for something so precious!" She was affronted.

"You were the one who gave asked me what I wanted. That is what I want," he retorted, utterly pleased with himself.

A promise was a promise. "Fine," she said begrudgingly. "But I'll sell it to you at the price I had bought it and not give it to you for free."

Mo Qingchen nodded vehemently. "Sure. If it makes you sleep better at night. Remember not to think of divorcing me." He chuckled.

"That piece of land is precious. You're evil, Mo Qingchen," she groaned.

"Don't pout," he replied. "Maybe I should give you a moment to think things through. Think about everything that you want to add to the prenup. Small additions can be made later, as well. I'll step outside and let you deliberate." He stood up with the intention of doing the same.

"I don't need a minute to decide." That provoked a look of surprise. "But I would like to go outside. Mind if I joined you?"

He shrugged. "Not at all," he said. He let her to the wooden panel on one of the walls and opened it. From there, she could clearly see the outside. The yard was massive and the blue water threw patterns on the wall of the house. In the distance, the trees towered over the stretch of flowerbed.

"It's beautiful." She was breathless.

"Thank you," he answered as he flicked the switch that dimmed the pool lights. A soft light surrounded the patio, making the area look prettier.

As they walked over to the seats, she continued to take in the beauty of it all. This would be her house.

Mo Qingchen sat down on one of the chairs and patted on the one beside him, urging her to sit down. She took it willingly and stretched her leg out in front of her.

"I will draw up the prenuptial contract in three days. I'll give it to you to read over and make any changes and revisions you want to be made. Once we both sign the agreement, the next step would be telling people."

He broke the silence, but she didn't mind. She turned her head to the side and watched him soak in the beauty of this place like her. He leaned forward with his elbows on his knees. He ran his free hand through his hair and looked at the backyard, a faraway look haunting his eyes.

Qian Meng liked the way he clenched and unclenched his jaw unconsciously. In short, he looked delicious.

The perfection was disrupted when her phone rang, piercing through the atmosphere. It was Li Min.

"Tell me," Qian Meng responded impatiently.

"The video is trending," she whispered, panic-ridden.

"How bad is it?" She pressed her lips together.

"Very bad," she whispered. "They aren't concentrating on the main parts."

Qian Meng didn't panic. "I understand," she said promptly. "Rest now. You don't need to worry about this."

Li Min would have begged to differ. The call was cut and Qian Meng suddenly remembered what her life really looked like.

"What is it?" Mo Qingchen asked.

"The video of Mo Yize and I destroying the car is trending." She looked through social media, and indeed the reaction was bad. "Mo Yize's name has not been mentioned. I won't spill, don't worry," Qian Meng assured. Mo Qingchen frowned.

"You know what is not what I am concerned about." He took her phone and scrolled through the comments. His eyes burned with anger and he looked like he was about to murder someone.

"This… Fuck!" he yelled.

Qian Meng startled. "What's wrong?" He was scrolling through her phone, this time through more and more comments.

"They're threatening you," he growled.

"Don't get your boxers in a twist. It's all part of the plan," she told him.
