Chapter 35: Sighing Over a Romantic Scene

Chapter 35: Sighing Over a Romantic Scene

"Sir, Miss Yun has prohibited us from using the key unless we are given explicit permission to do so." The female employee bowed.

Mo Qingchen huffed. "Do you think she can give you permission in this state?" he barked. His voice was low enough not to wake her, but the menace was real.

'That's what we are scared of,' the female employee thought. This was the hotel owner's son, so she couldn't deny him outright. She started to think of ways to overcome this obstacle. It was indeed in her rights to protect this unsuspecting drunk woman, as powerful as she might be in reality.

"Why don't I accompany Miss Yun?" she said somberly, hoping the offer was taken. Mo Qingchen looked at the employee, taking note of the name, and nodded.

"Please accompany me. I don't want to bother too many people." He gave her a look, demanding her compliance, and then moved towards the elevator. The female employee pressed the button to her floor and sneaked glances towards Mo Qingchen.

He had been holding her up for quite a while but there seemed to be no signs of strain in his body language.

The door dinged open, and Mo Qingchen walked forward with ease. The employee was about to put in her universal keycard when Mo Qingchen stopped her.

"Yun Qian Meng," he called softly. She hummed softly, still sleeping but aware of the voices around her. "Can I open your front door?" he asked.

The female employee stared in surprise.

The man she had thought to be rogue turned out to be a gentleman. Though an inebriated woman wasn't the ideal person to give her permission, the effort made was enough to soothe the woman's heart.

She'd met far too many lecherous men in her time working in the industry.

But Yun Qian Meng didn't really respond. She let out a soft moan but didn't say anything else.

"I'll buy all your shares if you don't answer," he threatened. Even unconscious, Qian Meng sensed the threat.

She mumbled a series of numbers and then dozed off again. He motioned for the employee to punch the numbers in.

Lo and behold, indeed, Qian Meng had given the password to her penthouse very easily.

He walked in, the lights coming on as the motion was registered. He looked around the room and saw it neat and tidy. With no invitation, he walked into the bedroom and softly placed her on the bed. His hand sunk in, accompanied by her body and he had to compliment the staff on choosing such good bed accessories. The mattress was very soft and good for the back.

"Your shares are safe. Good night," he whispered. He was about to take a few steps away when he heard her mumble something. He sighed and turned back again.

He leaned in to hear what she was saying only to be met by a swatting hand. He pulled back surprised but then watched as she scrubbed her face. Her lipstick smudged slightly and the liner was blending on her eyelids. He finally understood what she wanted to do.

He stood up straight and looked around the room but was unable to find any products lying out.

"Hey!" he called, patting her arm. She hummed in acknowledgment. "Where is your makeup remover?"

The female employee stood at the door and watched with rapt attention. Mo Qinchen repeated the same question a couple of times before finally getting a jumbled slur. He figured out that she meant the bathroom.

He strolled in with no attention that he was walking into the bathroom of a woman and then looked around.

There weren't many products and Yun Qian Meng had clearly divided them into which part of the day she used what. He took the box which had the makeup remover and walked out.

He sank into the bed, inches from her head, and pulled out the makeup remover and cotton pad. He knew this much from watching his mother and sister all these years. But the position was awkward. He would have to lean over her or strain his back to get this done.

He placed the things aside and adjusted her head so that it was on his lap. Errant strands of hair covered her face. Through the thin layer of sheer foundation, Mo Qingchen could see her flushed cheeks. He wiped the pieces of hair away, tucking them behind her ears gently.

A few meters away, the female employee stopped herself from clutching at her heart and sighing over how romantic the whole scene was. When she went home she would ask her husband to take off her makeup, too.

Then she wondered if she should volunteer. She stopped herself short, persuading herself that she was here to oversee and nothing else.

Mo Qingchen took the bottle of remover and uncapped it. With a precise move, he took an amount of it on the cotton pad and let it soak for a second. It wasn't good for the product to accumulate in her pores, or so he had heard.

He wiped at her face gently, ensuring that the pad wasn't too rough against her skin. He had to marvel at how easily the whole task happened. He scrutinized her face properly so that no blemish could be seen and turned to the other products.

He could see a cleanser. He looked up to the employee. "Can you bring me a hot towel and a bowl of water?" he asked.

She nodded vehemently before scurrying into the bathroom and doing as she was asked. She emerged with the necessary items and placed them beside him. He looked at her with acknowledgment and dipped his hands into the water.
