Chapter 55 - A Problem That Solves Itself
In the end, I settled with hunting thugs and thieves in the city's slums. Two-legged prey was more interesting—a bigger challenge. As a bonus, they usually had coins on them, never much, but some. It was early morning when I came back to Rosha's Weapons & Armour.
My hopes that by now Rosha and Risha will solve their problems broke into smithereens as soon as I walked inside the store.
"I can't believe you did this, Risha! Didn't life teach you one thing? Why do you have to go behind my back again?" Rosha shouted. Her face was red, her chest was heaving, and her fists were balled at her sides.
Risha's posture mirrored Rosha's, but her eyes glistened with tears again. "Because you don't let me do anything! You never let me do anything! If we didn't need money, you'd never let me work at all! You'd lock me in my room and throw the key into a river if you could!"
"Is this how you see me? Like your jailer?" Rosha curled her lip. "Well, maybe you need one! At the very least, until you grow up out of the stupid in your head, if you ever do!"
"I'm not stupid! You are! You are stupid, narrow-minded, sour tyrant! Always telling me what to do and never doing it yourself. This is just unfair!"
They didn't notice me yet, this how intense the shouting match was. I was severely tempted to walk out the same way I came in and spend another day in the slums or outside of the city. I hesitated, though, feeling like this was just a cowardly thing to do—and this second of hesitation cost me.
"Unfair? Unfair?! I'm doing the good thing here, trying to shield you from all shit shit the world, just eager to throw at innocent girls like you, and this is how you thank me, Risha? By running away to join the fucking Guild? Do you want me to die young? Because this is what will happen to me if you keep at it! My heart will just explode with anger at your damn stupidity!" Rosha threw her hands in the air in frustration and began to stomp down the short length of the store.
And as soon as she turned to do so, Rosha's eyes fell on me. Her anger exploded like a volcano that was finally ready to pop.
"Voren! It's all your fault!" She rushed towards me with outstretched—and not in a loving embrace—hands.
Risha jumped between the two of us, stopping Rosha with hands on chest. "Don't touch him, Rosha! He isn't involved in this!"
"Exactly!" I snarled. "I don't care for your spats, but don't you take that out on me! What the hell this is all about?" Though, I had a feeling I knew it already. My eyes fell on Risha. "Did you really went off to the Guild?"
"You knew!" Rosha pointed a finger at me. "You knew she was doing it, and you didn't stop her?"
I grabbed that finger and pulled it away from me. "It's not my job to stop her. Calm the fuck down, the both of you, before you burst my eardrums!"
I didn't know what sort of switch I or my presence hit in Risha, but the fight left her, leaving behind only the tears. She let Rosha go and turned to me, sniffing and leaking out of her eyes. "Voren, I just wanted to help you both! I, I heard about some of what you were doing, and I knew I had to! You don't blame me, do you?"
Crying! She was crying now! No, I didn't have to deal with this. I looked Rosha in the eye. "She is your sister, you calm her down. And don't put the blame on me again, got it?"
She gave me a dark scowl, but then, after a moment of hesitation, hugged Risha and let Rosha cry on her shoulder. At the moment of great generosity, I locked the door into the store before walking past the distressed girls and into the kitchen, where there usually were some leftover bakery goods.
Women. A pleasure to ride, but required way too much emotional maintenance for my liking. Some of them, at least. It was good that these two could maintain each other in that department… except for now, when they caused most of the need for said maintenance.
I could've paid for sex to professionals instead, but then I would've had to hide my extra appendages all the while, and that just limited the entire experience. Plus, Rosha learnt all the right spots on my back that needed to be regularly scratched and that I couldn't reach because my wings were on the way, and this was almost as good as ramming into her until she writhed and convulsed on my cock.
Ah, all the good things.
I was just finishing the last of yesterday's buns when both sisters walked in. Rosha still looked grim, Risha still looked tearful, but overall they appeared to have calmed down. I watched the eldest pump onto a seat and the youngest carefully settle into another before anyone spoke.
"I know it was supposed to be a secret, and I didn't intend to listen up on you, but the walls there are thin, and," Risha blushed and didn't meet anyone's eyes. "Well, some things I really didn't intend to hear. But I heard that you, Voren, needed information from the Guild… And I knew I could help you and Rosha there. I never actually planned to adventure for real, Rosha."
Rosha sighed. "I know. And keep on not planning it."
I guess next time I was bound to find a more isolated place to discuss my revenge plans with Rosha. I scrutinised the girl, toyed with an idea to contract her, too… Decided that it wasn't necessary. She was too bound to her sister.
This solved one of my problems, then. I grinned. "So, did you find anything yet, Risha?"
