Chapter 720 - Uninvited Trouble
Chapter 720 - Uninvited Trouble
Liu Wuxie wasn’t in a hurry to rest after his bath. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Prosper City thrived with life, easily surpassing the vibrancy of Scarlet Ridge City. Though it wasn’t as renowned as Astral Glory City, it held a prominent position in the Central Plains, a place where hidden talents and countless experts mingled beneath the surface.
He changed into fresh clothes and stepped out of the inn. The nightlife in Prosper City was more bustling than the day, with shops still open for business on the streets. The teahouses and taverns also hummed with chatters. The city was filled with various businesses; you could find whatever you needed here.
His first destination was an alchemy shop in the city, where he planned to learn more about the pills in the Central Plains. With his current skills, he could only refine pills up to the ninth grade at best, and he had to reach the Nascent Transformation Realm if he wanted to refine tenth-grade pills.
As for spiritual pills, they were beyond reach as they also required the alchemist to possess the mastery of the Spirit Profound Realm’s laws. Only laws belonging to the Spirit Profound Realm could refine spiritual pills.
Pills were also divided into various levels. The first- to third-grade spiritual pills were considered common when one spoke of spiritual pills.
The commonly seen pills in the Central Plains were mainly tenth-grade pills with few spiritual pills, and each spiritual pill was immensely precious.
However, Liu Wuxie only browsed through the products here and did not intend to buy any. Tenth-grade pills were no longer helpful to him, and their exorbitant prices made them hardly worthy. Though he carried a fortune of over ten thousand high-grade spirit stones, he intended to reserve it for his breakthrough.
Ever since he had consumed the Revitalizing Pill, ordinary tenth-grade pills wouldn’t be much help to his cultivation, and he would have to rely on his comprehension.
“Hello, young master. Have you found the pill that suits your needs?” The shopkeeper came forward to welcome Liu Wuxie, showing no disdain for the latter’s seemingly modest cultivation.
“I’m just browsing through,” Liu Wuxie replied calmly. He now had a clear understanding of the pills available in this shop. He envisioned a future where the Heavenly Dao Society could expand to the Central Plains, and he could hand that responsibility to his father-in-law to manage. This was why he had to understand the Central Plains’ alchemy market.
“Shopkeeper, why waste your time on a penniless brat like him? Come and serve our young master instead!” A sharp and mocking voice interrupted.
A group had entered the shop, led by a young man who stood before the counter with two servants behind him. The servant who spoke earlier was one of them.
Their disdain stemmed from Liu Wuxie’s low cultivation. After all, the Astral River Realm was considered insignificant in the Central Plains.
Liu Wuxie frowned but said nothing and headed to the other counter to continue browsing the pills.
“If it isn’t Young Master Wang Yue! What brings you here today, and how can I help you?” The shopkeeper rushed over to greet the group passionately.
The young man, Wang Yue, glanced at Liu Wuxie briefly, and Liu Wuxie caught a flicker of demonic aura in the depths of his eyes.
“Dark arts!” Liu Wuxie noted inwardly. Practitioners of dark arts were rare, as few chose this forbidden path. Even sects like the Demonic Heart Palace, known for their demonic techniques, avoided the taboo of dark arts.
But, after a glance, Liu Wuxie soon dismissed the matter, as an unusual dark-brown pill caught his attention.
“Can I take a look at this pill?” Liu Wuxie asked. While he could analyze most pills using Ghost Eye, this one eluded him, sparking his curiosity.
“My apologies, sir. This pill isn’t for sale,” an attendant said with a sneer. This pill was a prized treasure of their shop with an insane price tag. Unless purchased, no one was allowed to touch it.
“Where did a beggar like you come from? Get lost, and don’t block our young master’s way!” The youth called Wang Yue came over, and the servants behind him gave Liu Wuxie a shove, demanding him to leave.
This time, Liu Wuxie was enraged. Though he was only browsing, he wouldn’t mind purchasing if he came across a suitable pill. It was just that the pills available in this shop weren’t of much help to him.
The servant couldn’t budge Liu Wuxie no matter how he tried.
The youth called Wang Yue was only in the pinnacle of the Astral River Realm, but he probably had an extraordinary identity, or he wouldn’t have servants at his disposal.
“Forget it! Why stoop to the level of garbage?” another servant mocked, his tone filled with disdain. Judging by Liu Wuxie’s unfamiliar appearance and attire, it was clear to them he was an outsider. In Prosper City, few dared provoke their young master, and Liu Wuxie was no exception in their eyes.
With a resounding slap, the servant who had insulted Liu Wuxie was sent flying. The action was swift, leaving everyone in the shop stunned. Even the other customers paused their activities to watch the unexpected commotion unfold.
“Is this kid insane? Daring to provoke Wang Yue’s servant like that? Doesn’t he know Wang Yue is the young master of the Wang Clan?” murmured a nearby cultivator, his disbelief echoed by others.
While the Wang Clan wasn’t a first-tier clan in Prosper City, they were a force to be reckoned with. After all, they had an expert in the True Profound Realm in their clan.
Wang Yue’s face was cold as slapping his servant was no different from slapping his face. This was a blatant disregard for him.
“I don’t care who you are, but you have three breaths to kneel and apologize to my servant. Perhaps I will consider sparing your life!” Wang Yue said with a sinister glint flashing in his eyes.
“And I don’t care who the fuck you are. Now, get lost!” Liu Wuxie retorted coldly, his words dripping with murderous intent. Were it not for the location, these men would already be corpses. He turned, intending to leave, his anger quelled after delivering the slap.
“You’re not going anywhere! Take this!” Wang Yue roared. He naturally wouldn’t allow Liu Wuxie to leave so easily. His palm struck out at Liu Wuxie’s back in a sharp and cunning trajectory, lacing the surroundings with dark energy.
But through Ghost Eye, Liu Wuxie saw everything.
“Get lost!” Liu Wuxie didn’t even turn around. With a simple wave of his hand, surging energy gushed out and sent Wang Yue flying away.
This time, the spectators were left dumbfounded. Given Liu Wuxie's seemingly low cultivation, none of them had anticipated him to possess such overwhelming strength.
The servants who had been sent flying struggled to their feet, their faces twisted in rage. They spat venomous curses as they watched Liu Wuxie walk away. “Boy, there’s nowhere for you to hide! Offending our Wang Clan means certain death!”
This time, Wang Yue didn’t stop Liu Wuxie but looked at his palm with a frown. He was still in disbelief that he was so effortlessly repelled with his cultivation in the pinnacle of the Astral River Realm.
“Young master, don’t worry about it. I have already informed the clan, and they will send experts shortly,” one of the servants said. They had never suffered such humiliation before, as everyone would usually treat them respectfully, even if insulted.
But today, they were all beaten for calling Liu Wuxie garbage.
Meanwhile, Liu Wuxie’s good mood was ruined, and he lost interest in strolling in the city and returning to the inn. He planned on leaving the next day with the teleportation array.
......
The Wang Clan’s estate was brightly lit as most disciples were awake. The news of their young master being beaten soon spread across the clan.
“How dare he lay a hand on our young master! We must avenge the young master immediately!” The Wang Clan’s experts all emerged from their rooms, eager to stand up for their young master.
Most of the Wang Clan’s experts mobilized were in the Astral River Realm, with a few in the lower levels of the Nascent Transformation Realm. Those in the higher levels of the Nascent Transformation Realm chose not to involve themselves in such a trivial matter, as it would tarnish their reputation to bully someone perceived as weaker.
If the Wang Clan had to send out someone in the high levels of the Nascent Transformation Realm to deal with someone in the Astral River Realm, their name would be tarnished.
Wang Rui had just finished washing up and was about to retire for the night, but the commotion outside had caught his attention. Even his sister, Wang Lan, had also emerged from the other room and looked at her brother.
“I’ll go find out what’s going on,” Wang Rui said and stopped a passing disciple before he inquired about what was going on.
“Second young master, I’ve just received news that the young master was beaten by an unknown kid from the Newmoon Inn. We’re planning to go and avenge the young master,” explained the disciple who was stopped.
“The Newmoon Inn!” Wang Rui trembled upon hearing the inn’s name. Wasn’t that the same inn he had arranged for Liu Wuxie to stay in the day? He began to wonder if it was Liu Wuxie who had clashed with Wang Yue, and the thought of it made Wang Rui deeply unsettled.
After all, it would be troublesome if it was Liu Wuxie, as the situation could spiral out of control. Through their conversation, he had a good understanding of Liu Wuxie, who was decisive and ruthless. He was someone who hadn’t hesitated to kill Chou Ba.
To prevent the matter from blowing up, Wang Rui immediately rushed out of the estate, planning to stop the unfolding chaos. But he still didn’t know if it was Liu Wuxie, and he planned to take a look to confirm it.
After all, Liu Wuxie had saved both him and his sister, and Wang Rui was resolved not to let harm befall him.
Meanwhile, a large crowd gathered outside the Newmoon Inn. The Wang Clan had sent over thirty-odd experts, and there were a few in the low levels of the Nascent Transformation Realm, with another crowd observing from the surroundings.
“Who’s that brat? How did he end up provoking the Wang Clan?” A crowd surrounded the inn not long after Liu Wuxie returned to the inn. The owner didn’t want to be implicated in the trouble, so he could only invite Liu Wuxie out.
“I heard they had a dispute in the alchemy shop, and he slapped Wang Yue.” a bystander recounted.
“This is going to be interesting now. While the Wang Clan isn’t a top-tier clan, they still hold a considerable position in Prosper City, and even the other first-tier clans show them respect,” another bystander remarked.
Amid the discussions, Liu Wuxie stepped into the streets and swept his gaze at the thirty-odd people with a hint of impatience in his eyes. These people had relentlessly pursued him to the inn, and he knew the only way to deal with them was through bloodshed.
He could only intimidate them through slaughter. He wasn’t worried even if someone in the True Profound Realm came at him as he was confident in his ability to escape unscathed.
If push came to shove, he could ignite his will as an Immortal Emperor to drag that expert down.
What do you think?
