Chapter 62 Magic Instincts
"By the way, you have been attending this place for six months, right?" Ethan asked. "So, you must know pretty well your level of power when it comes to magic, and you don't seem like the type who brags about that kind of thing. So, at which level do you think your magic is?"
"Why are you interested in that?" Emily frowned. "I thought you couldn't care less about such a thing despite gaining strength day after day. Well, I probably am between the C and B rank students when it comes to magic knowledge and talent."
"Well, that is fine," Ethan said. "You look like the type of girl who attends all types of magic courses, so I will learn a lot of things from you."
"Again, with those compliments that send shivers down to my spine," Emily said.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ Ethan intended to learn a lot of things from Emily and Hannah. Somehow, he could tell that Emily was one of the best finds in the school. Still, she was only between the C and B rank, that only meant that the students of rank B and above were pretty strong guys who probably managed to keep their powers upon returning to Earth. While that was interesting, Ethan had no intention of involving himself with them. It was weird for him to think that since he was a teenager, but people of his age tend to be pretty immature, even more so when real power is also part of the equation. Add all that to the fact that they saved some worlds and you will have in your hands a very hard-to-deal-with teen. Emily and Ian were both troublesome in their own ways, but they weren't a ticking-time bombs… probably.
"Well, enough of resting," Ethan declared. "After six months taking the courses over and over again, you must be sick of it. If you want to move on to the next rank, you need to make good use of your free time."
Emily sighed, but in the end, she got up and began to run again. She was an intelligent girl, so Ethan probably didn't have to give her any points in order for her to pass the tests of the physical courses. Still, that made Ethan realize that even though he couldn't care less about the ranks, but he should aim to raise them. More and more things are being learned now that Earth had contact with dozens of other planets, and the best place to learn them was as the school. Although Hannah was someone important for that to happen, it was impossible for her to learn every single thing herself.
"There is also the fact that I need to show results in order to have more access to high-level classes. Maybe if I work hard, I will obtain access to some secret documents about the magic of other planets… Well, considering that I went to Meizibio without permission, I would say that I started on the wrong foot."
It seemed like a pain in the ass given that he would only decrease his free time even further. Still, Ethan had to enroll in some other courses and pass their tests in order to increase his rank.
"I can solve things on my own on the battlefield. However, just relying on myself to find a way to control that power didn't work before, I will have to make contacts in order to obtain as much information as possible."
In that regard, Ethan made some good progress, even though he did it involuntarily. His sister was a powerful magic user, and Emily also seemed to have a lot of talent. He owed more than a few things to John, but that was something that could be easily solved. The fact was that he knew him now, and Ethan could use that as a tool to gain some intel. The same could be said about Ian… However, he seemed to be the most troublesome of that group since Ethan couldn't quite tell what he really wanted. It seemed a bit silly for someone of his nature to say that his only goal was to marry his teacher.
Regardless, for the rest of the morning, Ethan and Emily helped each other. Thanks to all that training, Ethan ended up learning two more support spells, he could have learned more, but Emily had to go home first to change her clothes and take a shower since she was covered in sweat.

"I guess I also underestimated the little brother of that famous Hannah," Emily said while she was turning off the simulator. "I thought you didn't have a talent for magic, but you learn fast… almost as if… your instincts compensate for that. You learned those faster than most of the students in that class."
"Is that so?" Ethan asked just for the sake of asking.
The door opened, and Ethan couldn't help but facepalm. Ian was there waiting for him, even though they were supposed to meet in half an hour at the plaza. Something stupid was coming, Ethan concluded that after seeing the smirk on Ian's face.
"My god…" Ian faked some surprise. "You are drenched in sweat, Emily. What you two did inside that simulator."
No one paid attention to that room, but now that Ian was saying some suspicious things, the students who were around began to slowly approach. Ethan sighed, but Emily began to tremble with anger, she was a girl at a delicate age, and that was a delicate topic.
"It was a joke; it was a joke!" Ian said in a hurry. "I know that you were helping Ethan with his magic training."
After hearing that, all the students lost the interest. Those three were ranked F students, so unless something of that level happened, they were as dull as a tree. Still, despite Ian's words, Emily didn't calm down.
"Try to say anything similar to that again, and not even your sister's potions will manage to repair your face from the damage that I will cause," Emily said.
"Yes, ma'am," Ian said.
"Here, Ethan," Emily said, giving back the boots," I will see you tomorrow."
"You can keep it," Ethan said. "I have no use for that, so it is better if that stays with you. If you have a running machine or an exercising bike at home, it will work just as well, and you can do anything else while you build up your stamina."
"… All right then, thanks," Emily nodded and then used her wristwatch to go home.
