Chapter 110: Mirage Dragon Pearl
Chapter 110: Mirage Dragon Pearl
“The Legendary bloodline is really powerful!” Ji Ye couldn’t help but remark.
Under normal circumstances, if he had encountered three Extraordinary enemies, one of them being a Commander-level expert with multiple treasures, he would’ve had to fight them hard, and the victory wouldn’t have been as easy even if he won.
However, the abilities endowed by the Legendary bloodline increased his combat ability by at least one rank in the water.
As a result, he executed three Mirage Monsters more than easily.
The only thing unsatisfactory was that whatever little Flood Dragon Blood he had was already burnt up in the short battle.
At this moment, everybody on the battlefield, both the Sludge Monsters and the Mirage Monsters, had given up attacking each other and were charging at him. It was clearly not suitable to stay in the water anymore!
“To the shore!”
After the death of the Extraordinary Mirage Monsters, the dozen soldiers who were still alive were freed from the illusions. They quickly swam ashore after seeing Ji Ye’s gesture.
Splash!
With the remaining power he gained by burning the Flood Dragon Blood, Ji Ye threw the meat of the Mirage Monsters he killed, their shells, and their sharp-edged round plates to the shore first.
After all, that was Extraordinary meat, and unlike the meat from the land creatures, it was seafood. He was rather curious if the creatures tasted like oysters since they looked like them.
As for the shells, they might have other usages like the skins of the Sludge Monsters.
Splash!
Ji Ye was the last to go on shore, but the Sludge Monsters and the Mirage Monsters didn’t stop after they came to the shore.
Thud, thud, thud!
The dozen surviving Sludge Monsters, whose settlement had been conquered, charged ashore relentlessly and slithered toward Ji Ye and the soldiers with their hearts pounding with fury!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Some of the Mirage Monsters were floating on the lake and darted sharp-edged round plates to the human beings!
Clearly, neither of the tribes could accept that the human beings had claimed the settlement core when they had fought for a whole day with heavy losses.
“I’ve been waiting for you!”
However, while the Sludge Monsters charged fast on the land, they died even faster!
Wu Song, wearing an iron band around his head, marched out of the fog and waved his Tiger Soul Saber, cutting an Elite Sludge Monster who was leading the charge into halves right in the middle.
He had also cut out the Sludge Monster’s heart accurately and killed it instantly!
“The Mirage Monsters?”
“I thought I wouldn’t get a chance to kill you because I couldn’t swim. Thank you for feeding yourselves to me!”
Seeing the Mirage Monsters that were floating in the water, Wu Song declared confidently.
Hum!
In the next moment, the Tiger Soul Saber trembled in his hand, and a roaring tiger made of blue Netherworld Ghost Flames pounced forth, swallowing two Mirage Monsters who couldn’t hide themselves in the shallow water.
Boom!
At the same time, noises of cannons being fired echoed.
Red iron balls flew out of the valley and shot through two jumping Sludge Monsters at the same time.
Boom, boom, boom!
Ling Zhen, the Heaven Shaking Thunder, held the Frigid Iron Cannon with both hands and fired cannonballs nonstop.
Behind him, several newly-selected “artillerymen” were delivering cannonballs to him continuously. They would also give him a new barrel when the current barrel was too heated to be fired again.
The cannon that was even more powerful than the Sludge Monsters was not only smashing the Sludge Monsters on the shore, but it also blew up the Mirage Monsters that could not offset the blast of cannonballs with water when they were too close to the shore. They were shattered by the bombardment into some sort of fried oysters!
There were also soldiers above Rank-7 who were executing the Sludge Monsters on the shore with spears and machetes.
Splash...
Clearly, the Mirage Monsters were smart enough to realize that it was impossible for them to take back the Sludge Monster’s settlement core from Ji Ye. They could only spit out bubbles of regrets and back off after dropping a dozen dead bodies!
“We’ve won!”
“Awesome, Master!”
“Thank you for saving my life, Master!”
After killing the last Sludge Monster, the soldiers of the Twin Dragon Mount roared with joy in the valley to celebrate the victory.
“Are you hurt?”
Qin Yueyu, who had killed two Sludge Monsters with her bow, keenly noticed that Ji Ye’s face didn’t look very good.
“It’s no big deal!”
Ji Ye shook his head.
By burning the Flood Dragon Blood, he could unleash a power that was beyond his limits, but that would inevitably cause damage to his body.
Right now, he had damage on his capillary vessels and even nerves. Also, he had lost some of his blood, so he was caught in temporary weakness.
But that wasn’t really a problem. Also, his body would gradually be adapted to it when it was strengthened by the Flood Dragon Bloodline.
More importantly, if the next target to be fused turned out to be what Ji Ye had planned, this problem wouldn’t be a problem at all!
Therefore, he was actually more interested in the items that the three Extraordinary Mirage Monsters yielded than himself.
[Killed a Mirage Monster (Extraordinary Rank-4, Commander). EXP gained: 650. Honor gained: 50. Rare Honor gained: 1!]
[Killed a Mirage Monster (Extraordinary Rank-2, Quasi-Commander). EXP gained: 215. Honor gained: 34...]
[Killed a Mirage Monster (Extraordinary Rank-3, Elite). EXP gained...]
Of the three Extraordinary Mirage Monsters, one must’ve been a “hero”, one was a native who reached the Quasi-Commander level, and the last was an elite “player” because he yielded a Stone of Civilization instead of a Soul of Civilization after he died!
Among them, the “hero” was the only one who yielded most stuff, especially the ball that projected pavilions in the seawater.
[Mirage Dragon Pearl]
[Level: Special]
[Rarity: Superior]
[Introduction: This is the pearl left by a Mirage Dragon after it died. It’s said that the Mirage Dragon created an illusionary city on the sea during its prime years, which attracted abundant creatures. Naturally, those creatures all ended up as the dragon’s toys and food!]
A deceased Mirage Dragon, and an illusion city!
Obviously, this should be an item that had special features and contained some Transcendent power!
It also explained why the Mirage Monster Commander could create such a massive and vivid illusion that even Ji Ye failed to notice any flaw.
It also suggested that the items which contained Transcendent power didn’t just exist on the territory of human beings but also in the Mirage Monsters’.
Furthermore, judging from the name, it would be easier for the Mirage Monsters to make use of the Mirage Dragon Pearl than it was for him to use the Totem Wolf Skin!
On the other hand, what about the Mirage Dragon?
Were there really dragons on the Land of Inheritance?
Ji Ye had always thought that dragons were created on the Land of Inheritance because it was a civilizational totem for Chidragon.
That was also the reason why he, as a descendant of Chidragon, could fully fuse the Flood Dragon Bloodline that manifested in the Twin Dragon Mount fort.
This Mirage Dragon was supposed to be a creature from the Mirage Monsters’ settlement unrelated to the Earth civilizations!
However, Ji Ye remembered that Mirage, as a creature in the ancient myths of Chidragon, always had two forms, namely “giant oysters” and “flood dragons”.
Obviously, the Mirage Dragon should be connected to the dragon clan somehow, and the dragon might not have been completely an imaginary creature but related to the Land of Inheritance in a certain way...
“However, is it possible that the Mirage Dragon could be the offspring of a dragon and a Mirage?”
In such a case, if the Mirage Monsters could make use of the Mirage Dragon Pearl, what about the dragons?
Or rather, more technically speaking, what about human beings who had dragon bloodline?
Ji Ye held the Mirage Dragon Pearl in his hand and closed his eyes. He then concentrated the power of his divine sense on it.
Hum!
After a while, the Mirage Dragon Pearl suddenly jerked, and a white smoke popped up and quickly changed near Ji Ye. It became a bird at first, a fish later, and then a beast, a ship, a plane, a skyscraper...
Eventually, it even turned into a tall girl wearing white clothes. Unfortunately, her face was too hazy to be seen clearly.
It then quickly dispersed and returned to the Mirage Dragon Pearl as white smoke.
“This really works!”
Ji Ye opened his eyes in delight.
He could really make use of the Mirage Dragon Pearl with the Flood Dragon Bloodline. Also, he didn’t have to consume the Flood Dragon Blood during the control and only needed to use his divine sense power.
Still, it was rather challenging to create an illusion that was vivid enough.
For example, he had tried to create a “Nie Xiaoqian”, but it took a long time for him just to build a human shape. It was also difficult to display the intricacies of her face. Anyone could’ve easily realized that she was fake.
That was because the Mirage Dragon Pearl wasn’t really a Transcendent technological item, like a hat that could project whatever one was thinking as long as they put it on.
Instead, it was a cultivators’ item. One had to trigger the power of the Mirage Dragon Pearl with the divine sense power and construct the details of the illusion consciously.
The Mirage Monsters were themselves good at creating all kinds of illusions with the mirage, so it was as easy as pie for them to control this treasure that had Transcendent power.
However, it posed a great problem for human beings.
Even creating an individual would require careful consideration, let alone a massive illusion like the one that the Mirage Monster Commander made before.
It was even harder to make sure that the created person showed no flaws in their behavior.
However, if anybody could really achieve that, they would undoubtedly fully carry out the effects of this Transcendent treasure.
Imagine that when one was faced with enemies on the battlefield, thousands of roaring monsters and arrows from Lord of the Rings or Warcraft emerged behind them the moment they waved their hand.
Or maybe, when they snapped their fingers, infinite Monkey Kings, Nezha, Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, Hulk, and Tony charged at the enemy.
Even though they were fake, they would at least look magnificent, and the enemy would definitely be panicked when they didn’t know if there was any real person hiding among the illusions. They might even mistake the illusions for real and flee in panic.
“Huh, speaking of Lord of the Rings and Warcraft...”
An idea suddenly popped up in Ji Ye’s head.
The special effects in movies were all designed, modeled, and rendered with computer programs.
That process was almost the same as what the Mirage Dragon Pearl in his hand required. He could totally construct his own illusion step by step according to the same methodology!
Also, while there were no special effect masters in the Twin Dragon Mount, he had a game designer who was familiar with coding, modeling, and mapping. While the CG he posted on the forum about Crossgod versus Black Serpent wasn’t well appreciated, it was still of high quality.
