Chapter 160: The First Prey
Inside the core region of Baiyun City, the Crimson Jade Pavilion headquarters stood proudly at the center of the business street.
The lavishly decorated 10-story building overshadowed any other building in the surroundings.
The core region was cleaner and quieter than any other region of the city. People dressed in lavish attire moved back and forth, while carriages with clan insignia came in and out of the region.
Inside one of the rooms of the Crimson Jade Pavilion, an elder looked at the person in front of him with a stunned expression on his face.
"Are you saying they probably perished on the Southern Sea?" Elder Long asked, still not believing the three most powerful clans had all perished at the same time.
Elder Mu soothed his long white beard and nodded. "With all the news we're receiving, it seems so."
Sighed, Elder Long shook his head and asked seriously, "Then what are we going to do about the heir or heiress?"
"Why are you asking me that? We just need to find a new heir from the lesser clans to take the post. It's not like we don't have any outstanding young people in the pavilion any longer," Elder Mu responded seriously.
"Good. Then, let's begin to send out the invitations. We can't afford to delay any longer."
As the Crimson Jade Pavilion was trying to find a prospective heir for this branch pavilion, various undercurrents were sweeping through the city. The most obvious one was the Cao clan.
Following the command of Su Yen, they sprang to work. They bought stores and buildings at an alarming rate.
At first, no one noticed their sudden bizarre spending until they wanted to buy the most conspicuous building in the outer region.
The building was under the rule of a powerful gang, The White Wolf gang.
The White Wolf gang had its claws in almost every corner of the outer region.
Many powerful clans had tried to annihilate them, but when such clans began their attack, they would mysteriously be annihilated before the next day.
Therefore, various clans in the outer region realized the White Wolf gang had a powerful backer and thus, left them alone.
With such a mysterious backer, the White Wolf gang had no restrictions in the outer region.
Inside the White Wolf building, a burly man with two unclad women on both of his arms looked at one of his subordinates and asked.
"You're saying the Cao clan wants to buy our store?"
"Yes," the young man responded. He had a savage scar on his left eye down to his neck.
"What should we do?" He asked.
Hmm!
He fumbled with the breast of one of the women forcefully, and a cry of pain escaped her mouth, but she quickly controlled it with a forced smile.
The gang leader, whose name was Rong, didn't seem to care about the woman and stared intently at the young man.
"Have you found out where they get the money to purchase our building?" He asked.
"I did. They went after the powerful clan to the Southern Sea, but they were the only clan that returned. However, they were not the only people that came back; they brought back some other people."
"I see…" A sharp glint appeared on Rong's face. "Tell them to pay five hundred spirit stones."
His voice dripping with greediness.
The young man looked at his gang leader and nodded. Even though the prize of the building was only worth one hundred spirit stones.
He knew what was going on and would happily follow their leader's plan.
After a couple of minutes, the young man appeared inside a bustling restaurant. He went directly to the second floor and saw an elder of the Cao clan waiting for him.
"Have you decided?" the Cao clan elder asked.
"Yes. Our gang is willing to sell the building to you for five hundred spirit stones," the young man responded.
Hmm!
A deep frown appeared on the Cao clan elder's face. He knew the prize of the building before coming, but when did it skyrocket to five hundred spirit stones.
Before he could voice his displeasure, Huang Guo, who had been sitting beside the Cao clan elders, spoke up.
"No problem. When can we get the deeds of the building."
Hmm!
The White Wolf gang member had his jaw slightly ajar before looking at the Cao clan elder, only to see the shock on his face.
'He must be one of those that came from the Southern Sea.' The Wolf gang member thought with greed creeping up into his heart.
A fat sheep has appeared before them; how could they miss such a golden chance.
Controlling his expression, the gang member said calmly, "Good. I'll go and get the building deed."
With that, he rushed out of the restaurant with a greedy expression plastered on his face.
Watching the back of the wolf gang member, the Cao clan elder looked at Huang Guo and said seriously.
"You shouldn't have agreed to their request. Now, they would try to inflate it more or perhaps attack us."
"Really? I'd love them to try," Huang Guo responded casually.
Watching Huang Guo not taking the White Wolf gang threat seriously, he sighed and shook his head.
'You're just a peak Qi Refinement warrior. What can you do against their Foundation Building realm expert?' He thought.
Shortly, the White Wolf gang member appeared, but not alone. A middle-aged man came alongside with him.
The middle-aged man looked at Huang Guo with an evil grin.
"I heard you're the young master that wanted to buy one of our stores," he said with a smile.
Hmm.
Huang Guo nodded, looking at the two White Wolf members with a calm expression.
He knew what was going on but didn't care. As long as they got their hands on the store ownership deeds; everything was good to go.
As for the middle-aged man, he didn't care about Huang Guo's pride and continued speaking.
"Sorry to inform you. This stupid one made a mistake. The prize of the store has changed since a month ago. It now costs one thousand spirit stones."
"What!" The Cao clan elder widened his eyes. He stared intently at the two White Wolf gangs with his jaw dropped to the ground.
He wanted to berate this thief, but the words stuck in his throat.
Seeing the shocking expression on the elder's face, the White Wolf gang member didn't care and only looked at Huang Guo.
"Do you have the ownership deeds with you?" He asked.
"Yes." A bright smile appeared on Huang Guo's face as he brought out the ownership deed.
Huang Guo took the ownership deed and checked if it was authentic. Confirming the authenticity of the deeds, he put it inside the storage ring and gave them a small pouch.
Quickly, the man opened the pouch and saw one thousand spirit stones shining brightly to his face.
'What a fat sheep. Since you have entered the trap of our gang. You can forget about leaving with all the spirit stones.' He thought, and a sharp churning smile crept up to the corner of his lips.
Huang Guo and Cao elders left the restaurant immediately, oblivious to the evil gaze in the dark monitoring their movement.
