Looking at the obvious disdain on the Zhang ancestor's face, the Chen ancestor was furious.

He and the Zhang clan had been at odds for the past couple of centuries, and they won't hesitate to gloat on each other's misfortune.

"I think we should ask the entity. With all the sacrifices he received from us for the past couple of centuries, I think it would help us," The Su clan ancestor said slowly.

Hearing this, all the ancestors nodded, ignoring the still-standing Chen ancestor.

Up in the air above an ancient altar, the thick dark fog produced an eerily dark energy.

The ancient hall descended into silence as all the ancestors looked at the dark fog in expectation.

After a couple of seconds, a genderless voice came from the fog.

They were stunned, and a resounding gasp escaped from their mouths. They stared at each other, not believing what they just heard.

After what looked like forever, one of the ancestors broke the silence.

"What are we going to do now?"

Instead of responding to him, they glared at the ancient spirit in anger. They felt betrayed.

They've each sacrificed millions of people for the entity to recover a portion of its strength, and now that they needed its help, it dared to call them useless.

The Su clan ancestor looked at the other ancestors with an unsightly expression before he disappeared from the hall.

Even though she was confused, she sprang to action immediately, leaving the imperial palace.

It was not only her that was quick to action; all the other ancient clans were calling back their clansmen.

Sitting on the throne, the emperor was reading a scroll when his shadow guard appeared out of thin air.

Falling on one knee, the shadow reported. "My Lord, the ancient clans are leaving quickly."

"What do you say?" The Emperor demanded, standing up on his feet.

Since the arrival of the ancient clans in his empire, he had been having many troubled nights.

Many of the noble clans under him had been complaining bitterly about the unruly behavior of the ancient clan clansmen.

And now, they were leaving as if they were being chased out, which left him stupefied.

Before the shadow guard responded, he disappeared from his spot and appeared above the imperial capital.

He saw the Ancient clans escaping using their mounts with looks of dread on their faces.

Watching all this, a sigh of relief escaped from his mouth before he wondered.

"Why would they leave all of a sudden?"
