Chapter 149: Nita, the Old Fox
The fragrant aroma of spices filled the room as the coconut milk started to boil, and the chick was immersed in a thick, appetizing sauce.
"It looks like it's done, Nita, please turn off the stove," said Laras, who was busy washing the cooking utsils.
"Got it, sis," Nita quickly responded as she wt to the stove and turned it off.
Nayla promptly helped set the dining table. She took plates, spoons, forks, and glasses from the kitch cabinet not far from the stove, and carefully arranged them on the dining table. The dining room was just a few steps away from the kitch, where the delicious aroma of chick opor still lingered, making the atmosphere warm and cozy.
Nita and Laras, having finished cooking, joined Nayla in bringing the dishes to the table.
Once everything was ready, Laras called her parts, who were in the living room. "Dad, Mom! Lunch is ready," she called out softly but clearly.
Laras's father and mother immediately stood up and headed to the dining room. They smiled warmly upon seeing the neatly arranged dishes on the table.
"Mmm, it smells so good. Impressive," said Laras's father as he sat down in his chair.
Laras's mother added, "The aroma is so tempting. It feels like it's be a long time since we've had a meal like this. Thank you, Nita, and Nayla," she said while looking at them.
"Hahaha... It's nothing, ma'am."
"Please joy…"
Nita and Nayla could only smile shyly at the complimts from Laras's parts. Most of the cooking was done by Laras herself, while they only helped with chopping, preparing, and cleaning. Laras handled the measuremts, stirring, and other cooking techniques.
Once everyone was seated, they began to joy the chick opor they had just cooked.
"Enjoy your meal..."
"Enjoy your meal, everyone..."
The lunchtime atmosphere was warm and filled with camaraderie. They exchanged stories, starting with light conversations about the food served.
"Nita, how's your new university? There must be many new things you're expericing there," Laras's father asked while scooping rice.
Nita, who was placing some chick on her plate, paused briefly and replied, "The campus is amazing, sir. The facilities are complete and very modern. They ev have a lab that uses small-scale teleportation technology for simulations." She smiled, reminiscing about her new experices at the university.
"That sounds fascinating. Our world has changed a lot since we moved to this realm. The developmt on the island is also progressing rapidly," Laras's mother continued, delving deeper into the progress of their new home.
Listing to his wife, Laras's father looked at her with an odd expression and said, "Huh... that's why we should thank Lord Lein and Princess Nita."
Instead of getting upset, Laras's mother nodded in agreemt and expressed her gratitude. "It's all thanks to you, Princess Nita."
"Hahaha... No need to talk about it, ma'am. We, as fellow humans, should help each other and unite," Nita responded politely.
Nita th briefly explained the island's developmt to the couple. The island continued to grow, especially in technology and defse. Many people from various alliances were also getting involved in the developmt. I think, in the near future, this island could become one of the most advanced places in this realm.
Laras's father seemed impressed. "That's good news. With such progress, we'll be better prepared for whatever the future may bring."
The conversation flowed, discussing life on the island and how everyone was adapting to the new conditions.
While joying the soup, Laras's father asked Nita, who was also joying her meal, "By the way, Princess Nita, I'm curious, what do you think of Laras?"
Nita paused once again. Her expression shifted, resembling an older woman thinking about her child's future. After a momt, she finally said, "I like Laras very much; I have no issues with her."
After saying that, Nita glanced at Laras, who was currtly staring back at her with wide eyes as if saying, "What are you saying!?"
Nita smiled broadly and gave a thumbs-up, full of elegance and thusiasm. Laras, seeing this, could only lay her head on the dining table. A dark aura seemed to fill her head, unsure of what was happing.
"Hahaha... As straightforward as ever, Princess Nita."
"I hope everything goes smoothly."
Hearing Nita's words, Laras's father was obviously pleased. As a businessman, he had already planned dozs of steps ahead to sure his family's continued prosperity. He would do anything, in any way.
Nayla had only spok once during the tire meal, answering a question about the city's vironmt. As a personal assistant, she didn't have much to say.
The meal with Laras's family continued harmoniously. Laras's parts were delighted with Nita's straightforward and fridly demeanor. They showered her with complimts and ev tried to get closer to the younger sister of the island's ruler.
Thirty minutes later, the meal concluded. Laras's parts returned to the living room, leaving the three girls at the dining table.
"Let's clean up everything, and th we'll head out," said Laras as she stood up and began tidying the table.
Nita and Nayla didn't want to be left out; they quickly gathered the dishes they could carry to take them to the kitch.
Everything was done swiftly, and within five minutes, it was all cleaned up. They th prepared to leave.
The three girls stepped out of the house and headed straight to the private teleportation portal not far from Laras's home. They needed to use teleportation for their long journey, as the New Life University was in the City of Life, while they were currtly in the City of Light, Laras's domain.
"Ready?" Laras checked to sure the other two girls were prepared behind her. After seeing them give an OK sign, she calmly tered the portal. Nita and Nayla followed closely behind, just as Laras had done.
Almost simultaneously, they arrived at the Teleportation Hub located in the City of Life. The Teleportation Hub was not far from the campus; they only needed to take public transportation and would arrive in a few minutes.
