Chapter 33: Tyrant Spider
Chapter 33: Tyrant Spider
Xiang Ning slowly ventured into the tunnel. There werent many changes other than various holes and dents everywhere that looked like they were dug by other miners. Looking at the barren rocks, Xiang Ning wondered how hungry and thirsty the beast must be.
This time, he walked quickly to arrive at the spot where he first encountered the Savage Sand Rat in about six or seven minutes. He frowned the moment he saw what had happened. Before him was the carcass of something that looked like a rat. Upon closer inspection, it was the Savage Sand Rat he had killed the other day, though only the front half of its body was intact while the other half was mashed to a foul-smelling pulp.
Isnt this the Savage Sand Rat I buried in the forest outside? Why is it here? Xiang Ning muttered to himself. Didnt Old Zhang accidentally find this place? Suddenly, he felt goosebumps all over his body, a chill running down his spine. He had a sudden thoughtwas the new beast attracted by the corpse of the Savage Sand Rat? He clearly remembered striking the rats thigh; it had bled, then he even dragged it out of the tunnel, leaving an entire trail of blood! As for the reason why the rat was there in the first place.
A thought flashed through his mind. He had a bad feelingthis was just like hunting!
Hiss! A shrill sound came from above his head. He instinctively tumbled forward when he heard the loud thud of something heavy falling to the ground.
A Tyrant Spider! Xiang Ning immediately recognized it. It was a tier three Beast Soldier spider that didnt make webs to hunt its prey, but instead evolved to have a body covered in armor as strong as iron. Each of its legs were ridiculously sharp, and it was bloodthirsty to boot! It was a fearsome beast that had abilities equivalent to tier three, four-star martial artists.
After forcing himself to calm down, Xiang Ning realized it was an adolescent because it was only the size of a calf. A fully grown Tyrant Spider should be at least the size of a bull.
Hiss! After the Tyrant Spider failed to capture Xiang Ning, it let out a piercing shriek, then spun around and pounced on him again. He quickly dodged, tossing his bag out of the way.
Despite the spider being an adolescent, it was as strong as a tier one, nine-star or even tier two martial artist. He must take this seriously. The spider was quick and had strong defenses. Its only weak spot was the boundary where its abdomen and thorax connected and its defenses were the weakest. The other weakness was its eyes, though with Xiang Nings current abilities, attacking them would be too difficult.
He tightly gripped his pickaxe. The way to beat this spider was to advance his level in spiritual cultivation, practice Telekinesis, then attack its weaknesses. Unfortunately, he only had one thousand three hundred Fury Points. He only had seventy Mental Power, too, far from what would be required to advance in level. He needed more Fury Points for that, and as for the source he looked at the Tyrant Spider.
Xiang Ning knew he was about to do something incredibly stupid. He gulped, then loudly roared. This was his chosen method to provoke the spider, and it worked with all beasts. Fearsome beasts were characteristically aggressive. Loudly roaring was the same as challenging them. So.
Come at me, you bastard! screamed Xiang Ning, picking up rocks from the ground and hurling them at the spiders eyes.
Fury Points +222
Hiss! the spider roared, then all eight limbs scurried at lightning speed. Xiang Ning clenched his jaw, then raised his pickaxe and slammed it down.
When he activated Keen Observation, he learned that he needed to dodge the first two legs to reach the third, then attack the joint on its third limb. Mountain-Splitting Slash! roared Xiang Ning, bringing his pickaxe down with an avalanche of power. There was a dull thud. Nothing happened, other than him being thrown backward through the air.
He tumbled across the ground. He felt like he had just been hit by a car, his blood rushing through his body. It was very unpleasant.
Level: Tier one, six-star martial artist (1360/3000) +620
Fury Points +245
Xiang Nings life was at stake now; he had vastly underestimated the spiders capabilities. This one was at least a tier two martial artist. All his attack had done was cause the spider to momentarily contract its limbno injuries were seen. Admittedly, the pickaxe was part of the problem. If he had his iridium sword, he could have broken through the spiders armor.
I need to bring a weapon next time!
The spider wasnt in the mood to play. It had already been provoked by Xiang Nings yelling, and now it was truly mad. To it, Xiang Ning was foodthe nutritious kind with great vitality. Martial artists were one of the greatest sources of nutrition for beasts like them!
Triple Slash! Xiang Ning didnt plan to fight it to the end. Therefore, he decided to use Triple Slash to create a way out, because every slash propelled him about three meters forward. Three slashes gave him more than ten meters between them.
The spider froze, then let out an angry roar again. How dare its food run from it?
Fury Points +266
When Xiang Ning passed the rats carcass, he grabbed it and sprinted off.
Fury Points +288
Did my food just pick up my food and run?
Even so, Xiang Ning was no match for the spider. Before hed barely run a hundred meters, the spider had caught up. He took the opportunity to hurl the rat, aiming for its eyes.
Whoosh. The carcass was torn into pieces, blood and flesh splattering everywhere. Xiang Ning took the opportunity to unleash Triple Slash and a Mountain-Splitting Slash!
Pfft!
Fury Points +555
One of the spiders eyes exploded when Xiang Nings pickaxe struck, though he paid the price as the spider swept its legs forward, throwing him high in the air.
Level: Tier one, seven-star martial artist (110/3500)
Receiving such an attack was enough for Xiang Ning to advance to the next level, though he had to pay a hefty price. When he hit the ground, he nearly fainted.
Before he attacked, he had already prepared himself, as it could put him in extreme dangerbut all he needed was just a little more Fury Points! If he ran, he would likely die, so he might as well fight it out!
Clearly, he had failed.
Fury Points +444
When the spider saw Xiang Ning fail to get up, it roared at the sky, though it was followed by another hiss that was cut short by the glint of a cold blue blade. A white-haired, yet energetic old man walked out of the darkness with a cigar in his hand. It was Uncle Zhao.
He walked up to Xiang Ning, then squatted and took a look. Hmm, tier one, seven-star. Not bad, just a little reckless.
Uncle Zhao lifted Xiang Ning, his wistful eyes on the depths of the tunnel. In a flash of a blade, the entire cave started trembling, then boulders fell from the ceiling.
The people outside panicked as they felt the ground shake and immediately dispersed. By the time Uncle Zhao brought Xiang Ning out, not a single person was left. He stroked his white beard, held his weapon, then leapt into the sky.
Ten minutes later.
Fang Rou was in a good mood after dinner. She was walking in front of the dojo when she saw a black figure flash by, then something heavy fell on her, causing her to collapse.
Fury Points +111
Xiang Ning, are you kidding me?! She was about to slap him when her eyes widened. He barely looked human! His chest was caved in and he was covered in blood.
What happened to you? Help!!
