Chapter 118 Money!
It was no longer all fun and games for the Outlaw Gang. Quickly everything was becoming very dangerous and real, so it was time to prepare properly, and Xavier wanted to make that clear to everyone.
'This would be a good time to have a gathering with everyone,' thought Xavier to himself.
'Then after that, I should head to a firing range to test out the Expert Precision I just acquired,' he continued, excited to see just how effective it was.
And continuing on that trail of thought, he planned the rest of his day. Just like the past 3 days had been for him, it was about to be an eventful one. Meanwhile, crushing the 2 small gangs selected by the system was still at the forefront of his mind.
-
The first thing he wanted to get out of the way was to return the money that he had borrowed from those in the Outlaw Gang, and he didn't want to miss out even a single cent.
He needed to do that before anything else so that he could invest and spend the rest of the money without feeling any guilt since it was all his winnings.
Taking 27,630 dollars out of the duffel bag, which was exactly what Achara had handed him before he started betting the first night, he placed it in his side bag to return to Achara.
As for the rest of the money, he was planning on leaving half in cash for when he needed to purchase things from an illegal supplier person. He would then leave the other half with Zack's unit.
Of course, when he left them with that half, he would leave them with instructions for what to do with it, and he already had in mind how he wanted to distribute the money.
Then after that, Xavier was planning on heading to a firing range and getting in some training, before returning to Zack's unit to prepare for the next steps of his plan. And he was planning on getting started on those the next day.
-
They were on a tight schedule and there was no need to waste time or hesitate, so Xavier prepared to leave. Seeing that he was planning on taking the bag filled with money with him, Connor offered to go with him.
But Xavier told him that there was no need. If he had carried it home in the middle of the night without anything happening, he would be fine during the day.
Connor didn't bother arguing with Xavier, knowing how stubborn he could be. Instead, he bid him farewell, and also had his own duties that he had to get done, wanting to work even harder to prove his value.
Xavier's commitment to the Outlaw Gang and the fact that he was willing to put all the money he earned back into it served to show how much he believed in what they were doing.
As for Zack and Karim's unit, they were constantly working on things that would benefit the Outlaw Gang and surpassed all expectations, especially since they were so young.
And yet it was Sam, Connor and Achara's units that had done the least. Although there wasn't much that they could do other than train, it wasn't a pleasant feeling.
But thankfully it seemed as though their time to shine was coming sooner than expected. It was only a matter of days before they got into their first conflict with another gang, so all he could do was wait and prepare.
With that in mind, he headed to his dojo and called over his unit to prepare strategies and also see what else they could get done. Achara and Sam also felt similar to Connor and did the same.
However, before any of those in her unit showed up, Xavier knocked on the door of Achara's dojo, which she wasn't expecting, especially so early.
-
"Good morning," he said after Achara opened the door before barging into the dojo despite her seemingly just waking up.
She thought it might have been one of her comrades who had been in the area and arrived right away after she sent them a message to meet up. However, she was surprised to find that it was Xavier.
And she was still in the clothes that she slept in, which were shorts and a loose t-shirt. Along with that, she had her hair undone, which was unusual for Xavier. She always had her hair in a tight bun so that it wouldn't get in the way while fighting or training, and looked very different with her hair out.
"Wow! You look like a female for once," he commented while heading to the back of the dojo that led to her small home.
"What do you mean for once, asshole?!" she yelled before chasing after him and trying to attack him.
But their cat-and-mouse chase quickly ended when she realised that she wouldn't be able to catch him, even though he was carrying a large duffel bag.
"Don't tell me you're planning on crashing here?"
"Stay here with you? I'd rather sleep outside," responded Xavier, teasing her once again.
However this time she didn't bother getting riled up and seemed to be too tired to do so after just waking up.
She also didn't seem relieved by the fact that he wasn't planning on staying with her, and didn't seem to mind even if he wanted to, which he appreciated, but didn't mention.
"So, what brings you here so early and what's with the duffel bag?" she asked as she made herself some coffee.
"Well, I made some money betting," was his answer, which caused her ears to prick up.
"Did they pay you in single dollar bills, or do you have anything else in the bag? Isn't it slightly overkill?" she asked, considering how large the bag was and the fact that it appeared pretty filled.
He simply shook his head and placed it on the table, giving her permission to see for herself. And how she acted next was eerily similar to Connor.
Checking whether it was real money and asking how much money it was, Xavier laughed and felt a sense of deja vu.
Then after answering her questions and getting her to settle down, he took some money out of his side bag and handed it over to her. Informing her that it was the money that she had initially lent him down to the penny, she was surprised by how meticulous he was.
He then told her to return it exactly as she received it to make sure that the other members knew that he was a man of his word. He also told her that soon everyone would be paid and that he was planning on spending most of the money.
But he had one dilemma that only she could help him with.
"What is it?" she asked, curious as to what exactly Xavier needed help with.
"Well, I need to leave half of this money in cash somewhere, and I'm not sure where it's safe to do so. The best place I could think of was here since there's always someone in the dojo and it's not like anyone's planning to try and steal from a closed-down dojo," he revealed.
"Is that it?"
It was an underwhelming request and after nodding his head, she sighed, assuming he was about to ask her to help him with something big.
Reassuring her that it would be a big help if she could, she didn't seem to mind at all and was glad that Xavier trusted her to the point of leaving over half a million dollars with her.
Then after helping her find a place to store it in her home, Xavier was ready to set off again with the duffel bag that was now half as full, but before he could, Achara stopped him.
"Something about you is different," she stated, surprising Xavier with how perceptive she was.
"I wouldn't say different, it's just that I saw some things that might have gotten to me. But I'm all good," he assured her with a smile.
Before she could ask what he was talking about, he suggested she ask Connor, to whom he had already revealed everything. Then he reassured her that he was completely fine.
And he wasn't lying when he said that.
Although he had experienced a lot the night before, it merely strengthened his mind and character. It also helped him with fortifying his will and prepared him for being able to do whatever needed to be done.
And because of that, he exuded an aura that was more mature and potent than ever before, but it wasn't something that everyone could feel.
However, what concerned Achara was that it reminded her of the one-eyed demon.
But since he seemed to be doing fine, she didn't bother asking him anymore. Instead, she decided to set up a meeting with the rest of the unit leaders to share information and updates.
Seeing her doing so, Xavier told her to set it up at a nearby firing range. He said that he'd also come to train his aim, which he hadn't done yet, along with attending their meeting.
And she was all for it.
Not only could she train her shooting skills and see how well Xavier could shoot, but he'd also be at the meeting.
With all that in mind, she set up a time, and Xavier set off soon after.
