Chapter 424: Other Options
"Red…?" Wu Ping looked at the orb in confusion. She glanced around the room, hearing the sighs coming from Wuhan and Ming Ye. ’Do I not have any talent for cultivation?’
Her heart sank while different depressing thoughts flashed through her mind. ’Will madam discard me now that I am of no use?’
"Red color means you have the lowest talent for qi cultivation," Noah sighed, revealing the results of the test to Wu Ping.
When she heard that her fears were true, Wu Ping was devastated. Xin Yan also felt sad realizing Wu Ping would not be able to cultivate. She had come to like the woman and wanted her as her maid.
"But that does not mean you cannot cultivate at all." Seeing the woman on the verge of breaking down, Noah spoke up, giving her a ray of hope.
"What are you saying?" Wuhan frowned, thinking Noah was giving the woman false hopes. Just as he thought, a glint of hope appeared in Wu Ping’s eyes.
"Hmm? She can always cultivate her body even if she cannot cultivate her qi," Noah suggested, offering the path of a body cultivator.
"Indeed, body cultivation does not have any requirements for talent to advance." Xin Yan’s face bloomed with a warm smile as she agreed with Noah’s words.
"But it does require tolerating a great deal of pain and a huge amount of resources, which is why most people don’t even take this route," Ming Ye interjected with his own opinion.

Xin Yan wanted to say something, but she did not have the chance as someone else beat her to it.
"Umm… can I say something?" Wu Ping, who had been listening to the conversation from the start, decided to speak up. Seeing everyone waiting for her to speak, Wu Ping bit her lip and decided to speak her mind, "I cannot understand what you all are saying, but the only thing I can understand is that I am not talented enough to cultivate with qi.
There is still a way for me to cultivate, and that is to suffer a lot of pain... Is that it?"
Noah smiled, hearing Wu Ping’s words and nodded in agreement. The rest looked at her with curiosity. "Then, I am ready to face any kind of pain!"
Seeing the firm look in her eyes, Xin Yan smiled widely.
"Are you sure? The pain you will experience will only continue to exceed your expectations as you advance in body cultivation. There is a chance you could die cultivating." Wuhan asked once more with a serious look on his face.
"I am sure! No matter how painful it is, I want to get stronger. I don’t want to feel that helpless again, and if I am not strong enough, I won’t be of any use to madam." Despite his words, her determination did not falter, surprising him and Ming Ye.
"You know that Xin Yan would not discard you just because you cannot cultivate?" Noah glanced at Wu Ping from the corner of his eye.
"I am well aware of Madam’s kindness." Wu Ping smiled in gratitude, looking at Xin Yan. "But I don’t want to be a burden on her when I can be of use to her. She saved our lives, and no matter what I do, I cannot repay that debt to her."
Her words touched Ruo’er and Xin Yan’s hearts. They did not expect her to have such thoughts in her heart.
"Sigh~ Even if you are ready to face all of the pain and hardship… there is still one more problem," Wuhan sighed in dejection. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"What about it?" Xin Yan spoke up this time. Wuhan did not appear scared and calmly replied to her question, "Even though we can afford them, she cannot."
"You are not just going to give her those resources for free, are you?" Wu Ping lowered her head and bit her lip, hearing those words. Even though his words sounded cold, she knew there was no free lunch in the world.
"Don’t worry about that." Noah chuckled, hearing Wuhan’s concern. "Didn’t Xin Yan just hire her? There is no way we are going to make her work for free too."
"We can pay her in resources..." Wuhan’s eyes widened as he realized that Wu Ping was not a disciple of the sect but a maid and had to be paid for her work.
Wu Ping’s eyes moistened. Wiping the tears from the corner of her eyes, she bowed to Noah, "Thank you for the opportunity. I will make sure to live up to Madam and Master’s expectations!"
Her words echoed in the room, stunning everyone, including Noah and Xin Yan. Seeing the sudden change in atmosphere, Wu Ping blinked her eyes innocently.
Ruo’er glanced at Xin Yan, surprised to see her face red as a tomato.
"Did I say something wrong?" she asked cluelessly, seeing the expressions of the people present in the room.
"Mmmm!" Before anyone could say anything, their attention was drawn by the sound of the child awakening. His eyes slowly flickered before opening.
"Mama! Waaah!!" As soon as his eyes opened, the child panicked, not seeing his mother. Noah waved his hand and moved the child closer to Wu Ping.
Wu Ping picked him up in her arms and hugged the boy.
"I had… *hick!...* a dream that something bad happened to you!" Wu He hugged his mother tightly as if he was afraid she would slip away and spoke while crying his eyes out.
"I am fine, dear… I am here!" Wu Ping’s eyes moistened as she hugged her child back and rubbed his back, trying to reassure him with her warmth.
After a while, the boy fell asleep in the middle of his cries from exhaustion.
"You should take a rest, and we can talk about the rest at dinner," Noah suggested warmly.
Hearing the heart-wrenching cries of the child, everyone snapped out of their daze and looked at the two of them with pity and warmth.
What do you think?
