Chapter 13 - Making a Fortune
Chapter 13 Making a Fortune
A few seconds later, a flash of white light appeared.
Qin Feng vanished from the deserted alley. In the next moment, he found himself standing on solid ground, entering a new space.
The sky above him was a bright, fiery red without clouds, stars, or a sun. The ground was riddled with massive cracks filled with boiling lava, occasionally spewing columns of fire that dispersed into the air.
The temperature was scorching, easily surpassing 100 degrees Celsius, making it unbearable for ordinary people.
Within just three seconds, Qin Feng was already drenched in sweat.
This was the Fire Hell Realm.
Looking around, he noticed numerous floating fireballs, varying in size, hovering in the sky. One blue fireball stood out, hopping around the others with a peculiar, almost sentient movement.
Upon closer inspection, Qin Feng realized there was a crystal nucleus at the center of the blue fireball.
A screen automatically popped up in his vision.
Category: Spirit Creature (Ordinary)
Name: Fire Spirit
Level: 1 (Equivalent to Early Body Strengthening)
So, the blue fireball is called a Fire Spirit.
Following his instinct, Qin Feng summoned his personal interface.
Challenger: Qin Feng (Elite Level)
Level: 5 (Equivalent to Quasi-Elementalist)
Talent Skill: God-level Devouring
Combat Power Index: 417 points
The system had automatically adjusted his character template. The levels were now based on his cultivation realm.
Just then, a Fire Spirit floated near him. Without hesitation, Qin Feng threw a punch, dispersing the Fire Spirit, leaving behind a crystal nucleus the size of a soybean.
Qin Feng picked it up, and a screen popped up in his view.
Item Name: Level 1 Crystal Nucleus
Note: Cannot be devoured; can be recycled by the system for 50,000 coins.
“Wow! I can exchange this for money!” Qin Feng was pleasantly surprised.
Right now, he was short of money.
As he continued, he saw another Fire Spirit in front of him and quickly moved to hunt it down.
Poof!
Another Fire Spirit destroyed!
He obtained another Level 1 crystal nucleus.
Poof!
Yet another Fire Spirit was obliterated!
He collected another crystal nucleus.
Qin Feng kept hunting Fire Spirits while cautiously avoiding the fire pillars erupting from the ground’s cracks. He noticed these fire columns were extremely dangerous, likely more powerful than a One-Star Elementalist’s attack. A single hit could be fatal.
So, he tread carefully, dodging each one.
In the blink of an eye, twenty minutes passed. Qin Feng had slain over a dozen Fire Spirits, accumulating quite a profit, and feeling satisfied.
But then, he noticed a two-meter-tall fire pig devouring the Fire Spirits.
A screen popped up, displaying information on the fire pig.
Category: Spirit Creature
Name: Fire Spirit Wild Boar (Ordinary Level)
Level: 6 (Equivalent to One-Star Early Stage)
Warning: Danger Level – Low Victory Probability (Below 40%)
Qin Feng was shocked.
This Fire Spirit Wild Boar was as strong as a One-Star Early Stage Elementalist, far stronger than he was. The system’s warning indicated his victory probability was less than 40%.
At that moment, hundreds of meters away, the Fire Spirit Wild Boar noticed Qin Feng and locked eyes with him.
The two stood at a tense standoff.
Qin Feng grew nervous.
Then, the system’s message appeared.
“Ding! Divine Challenge Initiated!”
Challenge Content: Kill the Fire Spirit Wild Boar within 10 minutes.
“What?! I have to kill it?” Qin Feng was stunned.
This was the equivalent of asking him to kill a One-Star Elementalist, and to make it worse, he had only ten minutes.
The challenge was insanely difficult.
“Ding! Challenge starts in 3… 2… 1…”
“Ding! Challenge begins! Timer starts: 10:00…”
A countdown timer appeared in his vision.
What should I do?
Should I fight?
Qin Feng hesitated.
My strength is inferior to the Fire Spirit Wild Boar, and defeating it within ten minutes seems impossible. I could very well be the one getting killed instead.
Is giving up the only option?
Giving up would mean no rewards!
Qin Feng was reluctant.
Meanwhile, the Fire Spirit Wild Boar eyed Qin Feng for a moment, seemingly assessing him. Then, it continued eating the Fire Spirits, ignoring Qin Feng, and clearly not the brightest creature.
Qin Feng squinted, evaluating his options.
Though the boar was stronger, Qin Feng was human, and far more intelligent. He wasn’t without a chance.
He turned his attention to the periodically erupting fire pillars, formulating a plan.
After silently observing for a while, he noticed the fire pillars had a pattern. Some erupted every five seconds, others every seven, and a few every two.
He carefully memorized the timings of the fire pillars around him while watching the countdown.
“1… 2… 3…”
As he counted the seconds, Qin Feng picked up a few small stones from the ground. Each stone was scorching hot, with surface temperatures exceeding 100 degrees from prolonged exposure to the intense heat.
Sweat dropped onto the stones and instantly vaporized.
“6… 7…”
Now!
Qin Feng flung a stone at the Fire Spirit Wild Boar.
Whoosh!
The stone cut through the air with a sharp sound.
Thud!
The stone struck the boar’s back, causing it to flinch in pain and turn its head toward Qin Feng, looking confused.
Then came the second stone, hitting it square on the forehead.
The Fire Spirit Wild Boar roared in anger.
A mere level 5 creature dares challenge the dignity of a level 6 elite!
It roared, and faint red flames engulfed its body as it charged at Qin Feng like a tank, shaking the ground with each step.
Thud!… Thud!… Thud!…
Twenty meters… Ten meters… Nine meters…
The wild boar drew closer and closer.
Qin Feng remained motionless, counting the seconds in his mind.
Six meters… Five meters… Four meters…
In the blink of an eye, the wild boar was upon him.
Qin Feng made his move, jumping over a nearby fire pit he had chosen in advance.
The wild boar, furious, leaped after him.
Qin Feng spun mid-air and struck out with both fists, pushing the boar back and preventing it from advancing.
The tremendous impact caused Qin Feng to stumble backward.
At that moment, the magma in the fire pit churned violently, and a purple fire column shot up, piercing the Fire Spirit Wild Boar through its body.
The boar let out a horrific scream.
Qin Feng rushed forward, delivering a few more punches, causing the wild boar to explode into countless fire sparks, disappearing into thin air, leaving behind a crystal nucleus the size of a ping-pong ball.
“Haha! I did it!” Qin Feng rejoiced. He had succeeded with over three minutes to spare.
He eagerly grabbed the crystal nucleus.
Item Name: Level 6 Crystal Nucleus
Note: Cannot be devoured; can be recycled by the system for 5 million coins.
“Wow! I’m rich!”
Qin Feng excitedly stowed the crystal nucleus away. This was worth 5 million, the first huge fortune he had ever obtained.
“Ding! Congratulations, host, on completing your first challenge. Rewards are being distributed…”
