Chapter 118: Ma... Ma? [Trigger Warning!]
Kyle was unconscious but that didn't mean his mind was dead so where was it?
Unlike the nightmares he has been having, Kyle couldn't voluntarily wake up from this.
But unlike his previous nightmares, he was self-aware that he was in a dream.
Kyle had no idea this time, to him, what he was experiencing was as real as it gets.
He was a boy, no more than seven, seated on a deserted table.
The pieces of furniture were worn out, there was no way that this apartment was healthy enough to live in.
Yet a child was on the table with a bowl of cereal right in front of him and the sound of a radio blasting off in the distance.
"You stupid bitch! I told you to get rid of it but you don't fucking listen now look at the mess we are in!" A man barked behind the door.
"Don't speak that way about him! He is your son!" A woman screamed back.
"My son? I'm not even sure that thing is human! Fuck it! I'm done!" The man screamed.
Kyle just sat there, eating his cereal, unmoved by everything he had heard.
This was a frequent occurrence in this household and the fact that he was being blamed for their unfortunate predicament showed that they weren't ready for a child.
Kyle was the repercussion of unprotected sex by two young people who hadn't even figured life out.
One wanted to keep it, the other wanted to get rid of it but unfortunately for the man, there was nothing that he could do about it.
"My choice, my body" This was the beginning of the hatred he had for Kyle because his family was in support of his then-girlfriend so he had no choice but to be a father to Kyle.
The door opened and a woman came into view but her features couldn't be made up.
She was a black silhouette, he couldn't make out any of her features.
The woman was sobbing and once again, Kyle just sat there eating his cereal.
He was unaffected by everything going on around him or would it be more accurate to say that he was dissociating?
"Maybe he is right… Maybe I should have gotten rid of you," The lady said and before Kyle knew it, the cereal in front of him that was swimming in milk soon turned red.
"Huh?" Kyle thought to himself and before he could compose his words, hands shot out from the bowl and dragged him in.
Kyle found himself drowning, he couldn't see or breathe, and he struggled but to no avail.
There was no way that his smaller body could put up much of a fight because of his smaller body.
Kyle managed to come up for air and found himself in a bathtub with a woman's hands around his neck.
"Mama?" These words inadvertently left his lips before being plunged into the water once again.
This was the woman who had defended his existence moments ago so why was she the one trying to kill him?
He could hear her muffled words beneath the water but could not make out what it was she was saying.
"I should have listened to your father! You don't deserve to live!" The female silhouette screamed.
Kyle recognized it, it was the same one he saw in the dark, there was something familiar about it and that was because she was his mother.
Kyle gave up the moment he saw it was his mother, he stopped fighting.
She was right, he hadn't done anything but bring her pain and his body covered in bruises showed that he acted as a tool for her abuse.
It wasn't always this way, his mother once loved him. In a twisted sense, Kyle believed she still did because she still had use for him even if it was to act as an outlet for her abuse.
But it became increasingly worse when his father abandoned them.
She hated Kyle because she began to see everything the man said, she sacrificed her education to raise him.
But he was soon brought up for air with the woman sobbing and apologizing.
"I'm so sorry! Mommy is sorry! I'm sorry!" She pleaded, hugging her soaked son for forgiveness. .net
However, in response to this, all Kyle did was smile because it confirmed that his mother still had use for him– she still loved him.

Jane and Ella stayed there in the hospital with Nate returning to work, he used this opportunity to give Ella his number. Informing her to contact him should the situation change here.
"How're you feeling?" Ella asked Jane but Jane was lost in thought.
"Jane?" Ella called out her name, gently placing her hand on hers to slowly ease her back to reality.
"I-I'm sorry, I was just thinking about…" Jane was visibly worried, she couldn't believe that someone tried to kill Kyle. But the thought of losing him made her heart ache beyond comprehension.
"It is fine… Everything will be fine," Ella assured her but there was no way for her to know this.
She knew Kyle was a rich man so there was no way that he wouldn't make any enemies but how bad must it be to try and take his life in broad daylight?
Jane began to sob, Ella couldn't blame her, she wasn't as close to Kyle as Jane and even she was greatly affected by this.
Ella held Jane in her arms, stroking her hair gently to comfort her as best as she could.
She knew silence was the best course of action right now, all that they needed to do was be there for Kyle when he woke up.
Ella told herself that she would never question Jane's intuition again.
They were glad that the ordeal was over or was it just beginning? That was to be seen because they saw the police walking into the hospital.
"Hm…" Ella thought to herself, she didn't allow Jane to see them because this would only make her overthink but there was no way that they were coming to take Kyle away.
