Chapter 122: The Man Who Could Not Be Killed.
Jane rushed into the hospital room the moment she was given the clear with Ella trailing behind her.
They wanted to hear all the information that Kyle had to give because there was no telling if this would happen again.
The moment Jane saw Kyle, she jumped on him, forgetting for a brief second that he was recovering from a stab wound.
Jane didn't care at that moment and tightened her grip around him.
"H-Hey…!" Kyle struggled to say amidst the pain from every inch of his body but he soon felt something moist drop on his shoulder.
It was Jane's tears, Kyle smiled, realizing that she must have been scared out of her mind.
Kyle looked at Ella and she couldn't hold in her smile because she too was as scared as Jane but she hid it a lot better than her best friend.
God, you look like shit," Ella said under her breath and Kyle chuckled at this because it caught him off guard.
"ELLA!" Jane called her out, looking back at her friend while in Kyle's arms.
"It is fine, Jane. It is fine," Kyle reassured her because he saw the humour in the statement as she wasn't wrong either way.

He did look like shit but that was what being unconscious for two days does to a person, he was unkempt and looked tired due to the eyebags under his eyes.
It brought him back to the days he was stressed about his daily life with little to no income to get by but the ladies also looked like shit even though he didn't say it.
He knew that they only looked this way because of him, they stayed in the hospital to make sure he was alright when they didn't need to.
Nate was nowhere to be seen, Kyle vaguely remembered hearing his voice before he lost consciousness, Nate was the one who saved his life.
Kyle realized that he was right to keep Nate because there was no way that anyone else would have reached him as fast as Nate did.
By putting himself in that environment, Nate put himself in danger because what would have happened if Mike was still around?
There was no way for Nate to fight Mike, Mike was on another level and he didn't fight to win, he fought to kill.
That gave him the edge as he didn't hold anything back but luckily, none of that happened.
They spoke for a bit but then Jane revealed something that sent chills down Kyle's bones.
"You know, Mike called and he sounded worried when I told him you were in the hospital," Jane informed Kyle but Kyle's body immediately went limp.
He recalled the event that nearly took his life but hearing the man that was responsible calling to check in on him was nothing short of psychotic.
Ella noticed the drastic change in his body language and kissed her teeth in irritation.
Why did Jane feel the need to bring him up when she had told her numerous times that Mike wasn't a topic she should discuss casually with Kyle?
"Mike called?" Kyle questioned and Jane nodded to confirm this because she didn't want to keep anything from Kyle but sometimes, full transparency wasn't the answer.
"Yes! I think you two will get along well," Jane was hopeful but all Kyle did was smile before slowly breaking away from her.
"I bet we will," Kyle said and Ella quickly intercepted the conversation.
"We should probably leave you to rest. Don't go dying on us," Ella said.
The way she spoke to him sounded a lot like they were friends, it brought a smile to his face.
"If I die, who takes care of you both?" Kyle questioned to which Ella chuckled.
"You need to be more careful Kyle, I don't know what happened but we were worried," Ella confessed.
"We?" Kyle found an opportunity to tease her to which Ella rolled her eyes.
"You should head home and freshen up. I know you are both exhausted but I'm alive and well," Kyle reassured them.
He knew that they couldn't stay here forever and needed to get on with their lives because the last thing he would want to be was a liability.
Jane and Ella agreed with him but once again, Kyle didn't let loose any information regarding the attack.
No one knew what happened, all they knew was that he was attacked by some random people after he tried to help them.
As Ella and Jane were walking out, in came Nate with the wildest smile on his face.
"YOU ARE ALIVE!" Nate screamed at the top of his lungs before charging at Kyle like a bull.
"W-Wait!" Kyle knew he had to stop him because, unlike Jane, Nate was sure to cause massive fall damage.
-
"Hey Jane…" Ella called her name as they were in the Uber, returning home.
"Yes Ella, is there a problem?" Jane responded.
"Did you notice Kyle tense up the moment you called Mike's name?" Ella questioned but the look on Jane's face gave her the answer she sought.
"He was surprised that Mike was worried," Jane responded with a sigh.
"I shouldn't have brought that up, should I?" Jane realized that she might have made a mistake because talking about Mike took the attention away from Kyle.
Even though this wasn't her intention, she could see how it could be translated like this.
"That's not it… I know that body language, he was frightened," Ella thought to herself.
She had spent years living with Jane, a girl who was bullied throughout her childhood so she could pick up on these things but why would Kyle be scared of Mike?
Jane knew it wasn't in her place to dig deeper into this as it might do more harm than good.
But her curiosity needed to be satisfied.
"No, you shouldn't, at least not then," Ella confessed.
Ella made sure to give Jane the reality checks she needed because she was the only one who would.
