Hikari: Rise Of The Weapons Master

Chapter 54 I Will Not Leave You This Time

As soon as Zack picked up the first book, a screen appeared in front of him.

[ See the contents of the book? ]

This was one of the best features inside the entire game. Instead of reading the entire book or having all the information piled up inside your head, the players could watch the past events in front of their eyes.

Though since no book had been written by the heroes themselves, it was similar to what someone imagined the fight to be.

According to the legends, only the ten heroes had gone to the battle and no one else had seen them the entire time or after the battle.

So the history books were written by people who had imagined what the battle would have looked like.

Both Zack and Emma then chose yes as the book in front of them opened up to the first page. A blue light emerged from the pages and the duo were sucked inside it.

"This feels like an ancient battlefield," Emma muttered as the duo stood in front of a desert-like area.

No vegetation was visible till as far as their eyes could go. Instead, they saw ten people moving through the deserts.

< Since no information is known about the identity of the ten heroes or how they looked, their appearance will be shown as shadow figures. >

After reading the system message, Emma and Zack could see that the ten heroes appeared as though they were covered in shadows the same way like Elyon was.

They saw them travel through the desert and the white-haired boy couldn't help but wonder how a historian even managed to write so many words on someone roaming around the desert.

If anyone asked him, he would say that it would be like ripping people off if the author had tried to sell his book.

According to the book, many days passed by while the heroes traveled through the desert. The heroes had battled many beasts on their way or that's what the author thought.

"Please summarize and show us." Fed up with the slow pace, Zack used the summarizing feature. Everything fast-forwarded at triple the speed and the duo were left shocked by how the author continued to drag on the same thing.

The book soon ended and they returned to the library. After checking the titles of the two other books, they found out that they had been in written by the same person.

"Let's just watch the summarized version." The white-haired boy said with a sigh as after watching the two books, they realized that the author must have written something fake.

Because their journey had felt as though they had been traveling the entire planet and still had not found anything.

"Well, that's one way to waste your time," Emma said as they deposited the books and left the library.

"Well, sometimes you have to waste your time to know important things," Zack replied with a sigh as they headed towards the guild.

He then used the guild's conversion option to convert all of his silver coins to gold coins.

[ Conversion (in-game currency to in-game currency)

20 bronze coins = 1 silver coin

10 silver coin = 1 gold coin

200 bronze coin = 1 gold coin ]

Zack then used the 1969 coins he had and converted them into 196 gold coins and was left with nine silver coins. After he was done with that, he looked at Emma and asked whether she wanted to convert the coins too.

"Nah, I am fine with these. I should be getting discharged soon so I should probably log out." The pink-haired woman replied as Zack nodded.

"Then we can go ahead and get your contract negotiated with Evangeline or if you don't want to be contracted, you can just live with me and my sister. We have enough security." Zack offered casually as the pink-haired woman blinked in confusion.

'That was smooth.' She thought with a small smile before asking a question.

"You have a sister?"

"Yeah, she is my younger sister. You can meet her if you want. I'll come and pick you up right now if you want."

"Sure, why not," Emma replied as the two of them decided to take the day off.

And with that, both of them logged out.

Zack removed the VR glasses from his face as he sighed and stood up. Even though he had offered Emma to come live with him and Mia, he had no idea how his sister would react.

'I hope I don't get her angry.' Zack thought with a sigh as Mia was the closest person that he would ever have.

Mia was a kind-hearted person but in certain matters, she would turn into one of the ice-cold beauties from old web novels. At those times, it was extremely hard to even get her to meet with you, much less talk with you.

The black-haired boy had to think of a way to subtly make sure that Mia would not get angry at his suggestion for having Emma live with them.

'Maybe I should ask Eva but she seems as though she would rather side in with Mia than me. This is getting complicated…' Zack thought with a sigh as he decided to just be honest with his sister.

Because sometimes, it was good, to be honest with your close ones rather than telling a messed-up version of the truth to their face.

After walking out of his room, he walked to the room opposite of his and stood there. For some reason, Zack hesitated for a few minutes before he went ahead and knocked on the door.

A few minutes later, a half-asleep-looking Mia opened the door.

'Oh wait… What's the time?' Seeing his half-asleep sister, the black-haired boy suddenly felt a cold feeling spreading across his back. This was because he could see through Mia's window that it was still a dark outside.

If he had to guess, it was most probably 3 or 4 am in the morning because the next thing he noticed was that his sister was in pajamas.

"Anything you want?" Mia said while yawning as Zack did some quick thinking and hugged Mia. The latter was taken back by surprise as she looked at her brother with a surprised expression.

"Um, Zack?" She asked while blinking her eyes as he pushed back and looked at her with a smile.

"Sorry for waking you up at this time. It's just… I had a bad dream." The black-haired boy said with a small smile as he remembered the many sleepless nights he had spent in his past life.

When Mia's situation had reached a point where the doctors had said that she would die, he had been infested with nightmares.

Nightmares where he lost the one he loved the most.

But the only difference was that it had come true.

So in a way, he was not lying to his sister since it had been true at one point.

"What type of nightmare?" The beautiful girl asked with a serious look as she was suddenly fully awake. The black-haired boy told her about the last moment he had shared with her in his past life.

"You were in front of me on a bed and were holding my hand with a sad smile on your face. I was crying a lot as your grip tightened. You then said, "Zack, don't worry. Everything will become be all right soon. Just don't give up and live your life.

If you come after me, I'll punch you in the afterlife until you looked like a rag." And after that… your grip left my hand." The black-haired boy finished as Mia was left stunned.

She was not sure what she would say to this so instead, she looped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer.

"I am here Zack, I am here." She whispered as hugged him tightly.

The black-haired boy felt as though a heavy weight had just been lifted off his chest. A weight that he had been carrying since he has reincarnated or perhaps, even in his past life

"Yes, you are here." He whispered back as the two siblings clung tightly to each other at 4 am in the morning.

'Don't worry Zack, I will not leave you this time.' Mia thought with a resolute expression as in the darkness, her eyes started glowing.
