Chapter 1085: Chapter 1085: Aether’s grief
Karyk could not disagree with the Aetherian Beasts who believed him to be one of them. He also couldn't tell them that he was different from them as he wasn't born a beast. Instead, he had most probably devoured one.
When the beasts were in the human form, Karyk couldn't feel the same intense aura that he felt before. In the human form, it felt more refined. In this form, they could control their aura more precisely.
He wasn't sure if they couldn't do the same when in the beast form or they just chose to release their wild nature in the beast form.
"Why did you lead me there?" He asked the person who appeared to be the leader of these beasts.
"I wanted you to see our ancestor, as you have just returned to your true time. However..." The leader of the beast looked at Karyk, his eyes carrying a lot of complicated emotions.
"How are you able to touch him?" He was trying real hard to hide their surprise.
All of them were descendants of the man. Although they were birthed by this land, they had become their current self thanks to that person's blood that was mixed with an even more pure and destructive essence.
Even though they were his descendants, they were still not able to touch him. They could not even get within a few meters of him, an unknown force keeping them away.
They could only watch from a distance for an eternity. They had even forgotten how long it had been since the body of their master was sitting in the same place lifelessly.
Out of nowhere, there was an Aetherian Beast who they had seen for the first time. And that beast was not only able to touch their master but also carry him outside?
"Are you not able to touch him?" Karyk asked the beasts, his gaze sweeping over them. All of them had the same reaction.
The leader of the Aetherian Beasts stepped closer to Karyk. He reached out his hand to take his master's body, wondering if the restriction was over, which allowed Karyk to touch them.
To his surprise, he once again felt a burning sensation in his blood as soon as he came within a few meters of the man's body. It was as if the blood within his body was getting destroyed as he reached near the source.
He subconsciously took a step back, his gaze narrowing. Just why was Karyk able to do it when they couldn't? He didn't understand.
"What are you going to do with his body?" he asked Karyk. Even though Karyk was the only one who was able to approach his body which implied that it might have been his master's will, it didn't mean he was going to let someone defile his master's remains.
"I didn't think it suited him to be inside the corpse of a vile species like an Angel. Hence I brought him out to bury him between his own people... between you." Karyk answered calmly, not wanting to raise any hostility from these beasts.
The beast leader went silent. After a long period of silence, he nodded.
"I know a place..." He broke his silence, making the other beasts create a path for them. He told Karyk to follow him and started running away like before.
"Does he always have to run?" Karyk could only shake his head as he chased after the leader of Aetherians.
To avoid obstructions, he didn't run over the grass. He ran on the air, using his abilities. The Leader of Aetherians also started flying as he noticed Karyk keeping up with his speed. He was slightly impressed that Karyk hadn't fallen behind, even in his human form.
The two of them flew through the forest, soon leaving the forest from the other direction. On one side of the forest, there was a sand desert. But when leaving the forest from the other side, Karyk was greeted with a completely different scene.
With the Leader of Aetherians, he landed on a cliff which was overlooking a vast ocean.
"I heard that Master used to love coming here. This should be the right place." The Aetherian Leader told Karyk, taking another glance at the body of their ancestor.
"You heard that he used to come here? Did you not meet him when he was alive?" Karyk asked the Aetherian Leader while using his abilities to dig on the cliff without even raising his hand.
"I was born after he died. It is the same for everyone else who lives here. We only heard the legendary stories about him." The Aetherian Leader looked in the distance, as if thinking about everything that this world had faced to reach this point.
For him, it was a surprise that the world had managed to survive even after all that. "Were the Aetherians alive to tell you the story? Do you know what happened after the war? How did it come to an end?"
He directly wanted to ask about the whereabouts of Aether, but he controlled himself.
He first had to get close to them before finding the whereabouts of Aether. He was sure that if Aether was in his world, these Aetherians were the ones who knew its whereabouts.
"How did the war come to an end?" The Aetherian Leader repeated the question, his thoughts fleeting. "I don't know. I heard the old man blabber some strange words whenever I asked him about it."n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"However, I think that the war was ended by our ancestor before he died. How else would it end?" He shrugged his shoulders, not thinking much about it.
"What strange words was he blabbering?" Karyk asked. He wasn't sure if the man had actually repelled the invasion alone. Even if he did, why did no one try to force their way through to this world?
"He said Aether woke up and destroyed everything in grief," the Aetherian Beast answered. "Whatever that means."
'So he doesn't know what Aether means?' Hearing the answer, Karyk was slightly surprised that the person didn't understand the meaning of those words. Did he not even know what
Aether was?
What do you think?
