Chapter 16
Enemies Meet Again
Shen Yin sat calmly in her chair and did not move until she heard the loud click of high heels outside the door. Someone suddenly pushed the office door open, and a strong smell of perfume wafted in.
Yun Shan stepped into the office arrogantly. She saw the familiar figure in the chair from afar and narrowed her eyes. She sneered, “Hey, I heard that the division specially appointed a forensic expert to work with me. Why are you here?”
Shen Yin smiled gently and looked up, ignoring her disdain. “Enemies are bound to meet.”
Yun Shan dismissed the surprised junior assistant. For the moment, they were alone in the conference room.
Yun Shan stepped forward seductively. “Shen Yin, it’s been so many years. Are you doing odd jobs at the police station?”
She stretched out her long, slender legs and leaned her curvy hips slightly against the desk. She turned her head sideways and sneered. “Where’s your expert? Get him here now and then you can go.”
Shen Yin chuckled as she turned her chair to face Yun Shan. She crossed her legs again and propped her elbows on the armrest. Her slender fingers cupped her sharp chin. Her beautiful eyes crinkled charmingly. “I’m really sorry. I’m the expert you’re referring to.”
“You?” Yun Shan stood up in shock, her bright red nails pointing menacingly at Shen Yin. “You? This branch is renown for solving the most crimes in the capital. Is there no one else? How could they make you the chief forensic pathologist?”
“What?” Shen Yin tilted her head and glanced sideways at Yun Shan. “When you climbed into Lu Chen’s bed, you did not expect to become an actress either, right?”
“Don’t be ridiculous.” Yun Shan subconsciously glanced at the door. She only regained her self-assurance when she saw that the door was tightly shut, so it was unlikely that anyone could overhear them.
She raised her head and said smugly, “You’re the one who couldn’t control your husband. He pursued me first.”
She narrowed her eyes, trying to discern any heartbreak or sadness in Shen Yin’s expression, but no matter how hard she looked, all she could see in that bright, alluring face was a mocking look that frustrated her.
‘”Oh,” Shen Yin agreed, deliberately drawling. “That’s what they say about bitches and dogs, isn’t it?”
“Who are you referring to?” Yun Shan glared and pointed at Shen Yin. She scolded, “You useless bitch. Don’t think you can bully me just because you’re a forensic pathologist. Let me tell you, you are my vanquished foe, and always will be. You can forget about making a comeback in this lifetime!”
“Really?” Shen Yin raised her eyebrows and shook her head gently. “Why are you so angry just because I said a few words? Did I strike a nerve?”
“You!” Yun Shan’s chest heaved with anger. Before she could speak, someone suddenly pushed open the conference room door.
“Why are you still here?” Chief Wang was smiling, a teacup in hand. He looked at the two of them and said, “Why don’t you let Shen Yin take you to the forensic pathologist’s office?”
“Sure!” Yun Shan withdrew her finger and threw her head back smugly. She glared at Shen Yin through gritted teeth. “Let’s go then.”
She would embarrass Shen Yin in her office!
She wanted everyone to know that Shen Yin was an abandoned wife. Her husband had despised her and divorced her without even touching her!
Shen Yin was walking behind her, taking the measure of Yun Shan’s proud figure. She had an idea.
She looked at Chief Wang and revealed a rare smile that was different from her usual official smile. “Chief Wang, I’m afraid just visiting our office area won’t be of much help to Miss Yun. I think it’s better to go straight to the autopsy room and let Miss Yun personally experience the work of a forensic pathologist. This will help her appear more realistic and natural in the show.”
Chief Wang pondered for a moment and agreed. He immediately said approvingly, “We’ll do as you say. Since you’re so eager to help, I won’t interfere. If anything arises, you can do as you see fit. You don’t have to ask me.”
“Thank you, Chief Wang.” Having received her superior’s approval, Shen Yin immediately sent a message to Wang Sheng. “Help me place the corpses that the students use for practice on the autopsy table. I want to use them.”
Yun Shan was already waiting impatiently outside the conference room. She frowned and berated Shen Yin. “Why are you dawdling? Do you know how much I’m paid? Can a mere forensic pathologist like you afford to waste my time?”
The assistant looked in shock at Yun Shan, who showed no signs of restraining herself in public. She timidly pulled on Yun Shan’s sleeve. “Sister Yun, forget it. She’s a state official.” Not a small assistant like her who relied on others to survive.
Of course, she did not dare say the last part.
