Chapter 35
Informant
“Hello? Sister, President Lian hasn’t returned home yet. I’ve been squatting here for half the night. Can I go back now?” The junior assistant was hiding in the grass, scratching her mosquito bites as she complained softly.
“You’re so useless!” Exasperated, Yun Shan tightened her grip on the phone. “Forget it. Come back first. I’ll get someone else to help.”
She hung up and found someone in her cell phone’s contact list. After much thought, she gritted her teeth and dialed.
Her call was quickly picked answered. The loud music on the other end was very noisy. “Superstar, I thought you wouldn’t contact me again.”
Yun Shan frowned disdainfully. “Why is it so noisy over there? Never mind. Do me a favor. I want to know the identity of the woman who has suddenly popped up by Lian Jing’s side.”
“What? Your sugar daddy kicked you out?” The man laughed derisively. “Why should I help you, Yun Shan?”
Yun Shan grew impatient. “I’ll pay you. If you won’t help me, then I’ll find someone else.”
The person on the other end of the line was silent for a moment before saying in a low voice, “Three million.”
Yun Shan closed her eyes and gritted her teeth. “Deal.”
The next morning, Old Master was discharged from the hospital. Unfortunately, Lian Jing had an important meeting and could not go to the hospital, so he called Shang Sheng, who was at home.
It was early in the morning, and Shang Sheng was still in bed. When Lian Jing dragged him out of bed, his hair was still in a mess.
“I understand,” Shang Sheng drawled, reluctantly getting up to wash up.
He had stayed up all night drinking and could barely open his eyes now. In the bathroom, he cursed the cold-blooded Lian Jing a thousand times .
As he cursed, he was suddenly jolted awake.
That child definitely had an unusual relationship with Lian Jing!
If the boy was really Lian Jiang illegitimate son, he would complain about it to Old Master. He would see what that hypocrite had been secretly up to!
The more Shang Sheng thought about it, the more his anger subsided. When he arrived at the hospital ward and helped Old Master up, he could not hide his evil smile.
“Child, what are you thinking about? You’re smiling so broadly.” Old Master looked at him curiously. This child had been wearing that expression since he arrived. He definitely was up to no good!
Speaking of Shang Sheng, the Shang and Lian families were family friends. The two families had intermarried many times and were inextricably linked.
The two children were born around the same time. Although strictly speaking, Shang Sheng was younger than Lian Jing, the two children had played together since they were young. Shang Sheng was stubborn and always complained that he might have been born first, so he refused to address Lian Jing as ‘Elder Brother’.
“Grandpa, I have something strange to tell you.” Shang Sheng helped Old Master downstairs and said mysteriously, “Lian Jing might have a son!”
“What did you say?” The old man looked at him incredulously. “Don’t talk nonsense, boy!”
“Really!” Shang Sheng recounted how he had met Shen Nian. When he talked about the child’s appearance, he even sighed. “Grandpa, you didn’t see it. They really look alike! They must be related by blood!”
“Then why did you let him go!” Grandpa took his hand skeptically. “You have to verify this for me without Lian Jing’s knowledge. You have to find that child for me.”
“Then don’t forget to reward me, Grandpa!” Shang Sheng looked mischievous.
The old man chuckled and nodded. “Since when have I neglected to reward you?”
That afternoon, Shen Yin had just finished the identification report of a case when she received a call from Captain Wu.
When she heard that there was a new major case, she did not dare to delay. She hurriedly got her equipment and followed Team Three to the scene.
The person who had reported the incident was a diner at the New District restaurant. Chang Shu, male 35 years old, professional deliveryman.
“Were you the one who made the report?” Meng Heng took out his notebook and recorded the details of Chang Shu’s report.
“Yes.” Chang Shu’s face was pale, and he was shaking. He looked deeply frightened. “There’s… there’s a finger in this restaurant’s chicken feet!”
With that, Chang Shu could not help but run to the trash can to vomit again.
When the owner of the restaurant heard that, he said indignantly, “I really don’t know anything about this. I run an honest business. The frozen chicken feet are delivered regularly by suppliers. I really didn’t kill anyone.”
