Chapter 670: The Council Meeting [Part 2]
Chapter 670: The Council Meeting [Part 2]
Tever frowned, his calm and quiet demeanor beginning to crack. He leaned forward on the table.
"What is this? What exactly is going on?"
The whole table was silent. Then the vice president's loud and clear voice reached Tever.
"The non-combative school has invoked The White Law of the academy."
Tever trembled slightly, as if those words carried the weight of a colossal boulder. He looked like he was struggling to lift it.
Slowly, his expression first became bleak, and then a frown appeared on his face.
"What nonsense are you saying? Why would any of you accept that?"
"Get a grip... it's the White Law. The one thing that instructors and students alike are powerless against. It is the one law that binds everything in this school together and promotes equality. What do you mean why would we accept that?"
A purple-haired girl with glittering eyes made clear.
A dark frown defiled Tever's face.
"I came here to place a petition for us to exterminate the gang members. Did you not hear what they did to my subordinate? Lenn is still unconscious and in the infirmary right now! Since yesterday!"
Everybody moved slightly, muttered gasps and mumbles traveling across the room.
Even the white-haired president looked towards his direction.
Lenn was famous for his strength; not a handful of people could deal with him. Usually, only Tever and the President herself could fight him and come out unscathed.
There could be other people, but those other people had never tried. Just these two-the others that had tried had suffered serious and humiliating defeat.
It was why Lenn was Lenn. He really was a menace.
Such a person had been unconscious for an entire day.
The vice president frowned.
"That's bad news, Tever..."
Tever looked towards the direction of the boy with auburn hair.
"We all know how strong Lenn is. If he was able to be defeated by anyone other than you and the president, that most likely means that person is the one who invoked the White Law... we don't know what to expect."
Tever grimaced darkly.
"Are you saying I might lose?"
The vice president spread his hands in quick surrender.
"All I am saying is, it's better to be cautious than rush into things. If you lose, you will lose everything."
Tever's frown got tighter.
"What was this person's White condition?"
"The non-combative school is allowed to have their own student council, or you are dismissed from your office as the chairperson of the disciplinary committee and he assumes your office."
"Huh?" Tever's mouth fell. He felt like he had just heard the biggest joke of his life.
Not only did a student of the "non-combative" school invoke a White Law, but they also wanted to be the leader of the disciplinary committee.
It was insane, laughable!
The White Law was a law that gave students the right to challenge anything with combat with a motive. Upon winning, the winner's motive is fulfilled, and in the condition of loss, the winner's motive is fulfilled.
White Law could be invoked on anyone. A student could invoke it on an instructor or even a professor, as long as they could win.
Because the higher the authority, the higher the risks and humiliation accompanied losing.
The law was created at the early stages of formation of the Student Council, during their protest for equality.
It was also one of the reasons why the student council held so much influence within and out of the academy—another reason was also due to family and clan factors.
Tever chuckled a bit.
"I already find it insulting that a member of the non-combative school is the one doing this...
I can't even begin to state how disappointed I am that you think I will lose."
The vice president chuckled shyly.
"Ha ha... forgive me, Tever. I am sure you are a strong dude. You will take care of yourself; besides, it's the non-combative school. However, let me warn you."
The vice president's heterochromatic eyes glinted with a terrifying and yet soothing wickedness. His handsome face somehow managed to pierce through everything, even this foreboding aura.
"If you try anything out of sight, your office will be the least you have to worry about."
Tever gritted his teeth; he couldn't believe this. He had come here with the petition to expel the Starchasers and find Lenn's attacker; however, he was the one being targeted instead.
What exactly was going on? Where did he lose it? Who was ahead of him?
"If there is anything more to say, now will be the time. The meeting needs to come to a close soon," Miu, the secretary, informed.
Her unique husky voice retraced his focus back to them. He shook his head slightly.
"No. I have nothing else to say... the meeting can come to an end."
He said and walked out of the room before Miu got to announce the closing of the meeting.
Immediately after it came to an end, Schneider ran out, following Tever.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Slowly people left the room until only five of them remained.
The vice president washed down his face with a sigh.
"I know, right? He just went ahead and ruined everything," Tristein said as the vice president
sighed.
"I wish I could help him... Tever usually isn't a thoughtless person, but there's nothing I can
do."
His brows curved into a light frown.
"We cannot give the non-combative school the right to make their own student council. It will ruin things on a great scale."
"Erwin is right; this is all we can do. I feel bad for Lenny though. He is such a cute boy," the purple-haired lady said, her brows slightly downturned in sadness.
"And I am also curious who it is that was able to defeat Nel. I was told he transformed to Nel
and things got messy," Miu added.
Erwin rested his chin on his locked fingers.
"I also heard there was a monster. When we arrived at the scene, there was indeed a pool of
monster blood."
"There are a lot of strange things surrounding this event; we might have to investigate it
more closely..."
Tristein said with a tense expression on his face.
"Yes, but first we have to hope Tever does not lose his duel."
The air between the five of them drowned in silence for a while.
Erwin turned slowly to the girl sitting beside him, his expression expectant.
"What do you think, President?"
A heavy silence filled the room. Every eye turned to her, the air thick with anticipation.
Her gaze, ever cold and indifferent, swept over the table. Her childish demeanor seemed to harden for a moment, a flicker of resolve tightening her expression.
Her voice cut through the silence.
"Abs."
The word dropped like a stone into a well.
A collective groan rippled through the room as the council members slumped in their seats,
muttering their disbelief.
"Really?"
"Should've seen that coming..."
"Why did I even expect something else?"
Chairs scraped against the floor as one by one, all three of them filed out, leaving the
president and vice president alone at the table.
She pouted for a moment, then her face lit up, her eyes sparkling with sudden enthusiasm.
"Great... abs!" she declared, flashing a thumbs-up as if starring in a commercial.
Erwin sank his face into his palm.
