Chapter 546: 546: Seeing Through
Chapter 546: Chapter 546: Seeing Through
Song Jian’s killing intent grew even more intense. This Death’s Scythe assassin, like a bone-devouring maggot, refused to leave him be.
Kun Jue had already sensed the threat approaching and had prepared to retreat and leave after finding out he hadn’t killed Song Jian, but only eliminated one of his clones.
At this moment, he was more than 250 meters away from the bonfire Song Jian had lit. He thought it was impossible for Song Jian to locate him so quickly. However, unbeknownst to him, Song Jian had already morphed into a dark cloud and appeared in mid-air less than ten meters away from him.
Warnings of impending death resounded continuously in Kun Jue’s mind. The more assassination attempts there were, the more cards Song Jian revealed, making Kun Jue feel he had a better chance of victory.
But what he didn’t know was that the more times he tried to assassinate Song Jian, the more Song Jian learned about him.
Whoosh~
A breeze swept by, and Kun Jue suddenly found himself enveloped in a dark fog. He couldn’t see his hand in front of his face. The fog continuously caused him harm, not much, but enough to unsettle him.
“How can he pinpoint my location so quickly? What kind of skill is that? Why can’t I even sense anything one meter outside this thick fog…” Kun Jue immediately activated his Acceleration Skill and dashed in one direction.
However, no matter how fast he was, he couldn’t escape the area covered by the dark fog. The fog seemed to cling to him like his shadow; wherever he went, it followed.
“Come out and fight me for three hundred rounds if you have the guts!” Kun Jue roared in madness, swinging his dagger frantically in the dark fog as if his enemy were right before him.
It seemed as if Kun Jue had fallen into despair and lost control due to being cornered, but in reality, as a battle-hardened assassin, how could he go mad over such a minor setback?
Everything Kun Jue did was meant to lower Song Jian’s guard, hoping that he would become complacent and reveal a weakness.
Song Jian remained still, as he naturally understood that the damage caused by the dark cloud to Kun Jue was minimal, and it was impossible for him to crumble so easily from just being suppressed and occasionally hit by some unexplainable attacks.
The two opponents had actually begun a psychological contest at this point.
Fifteen minutes passed in a blink of an eye, and Song Jian’s Morphing into Dark Cloud ability was about to end. Now calm, Kun Jue drank a potion continuously restoring his Vitality Points, his face cold.
“Do you think you can kill me with such weak damage that can’t even kill a mosquito?” Kun Jue’s expression was full of disdain, but in reality, his palms gripping the twin daggers were already sweating slightly.
This seemingly endless and inescapable dark fog state made Kun Jue increasingly tense. Even if the damage he sustained each time was minuscule, his potions were limited. If he were forced to endure this for three or four hours, his death would be certain.
Fifteen minutes, although not enough for him to lose control, had already made Kun Jue anxious.
Just then, Kun Jue suddenly saw light as the dark fog disappeared. His senses could finally extend outward once more, and his heart soared with joy.
Light Strike!
A soft shout erupted overhead, and dazzling golden Sword Qi instantly dispelled the surrounding darkness. Startled, Kun Jue hurriedly activated his Acceleration Skill and dodged to the side.
Whoosh~
As the golden Sword Qi changed from slashing to sweeping halfway through, it struck Kun Jue’s waist with a combined damage of over 600 and 300+ points. The numbers floated above Kun Jue’s head.
Song Jian dropped from mid-air and, with a push of his feet, pounced towards Kun Jue like an arrow.
The blood crow and blood wolf guarding the bonfire also rushed toward him, encircling Kun Jue.
Without noticing the blood crow and blood wolf, Kun Jue sidestepped, executed a critical attack, and sliced a wound in Song Jian’s waist. Then, his dagger poised like a beast’s fang, he stabbed towards Song Jian’s chest.
Song Jian parried with his sword, and the two engaged in close combat. After more than a dozen rounds, Kun Jue discovered that Song Jian’s equipment was even better than his own. Song Jian, too, found that the assassin’s skills were bizarre and he had numerous life-saving tactics.
“This can’t go on, or he’ll escape again,” Song Jian frowned. Although his damage was overwhelming Kun Jue, the assassin was like a slippery mudfish whose whereabouts couldn’t be grasped.
Five minutes later, Kun Jue felt the urge to retreat. After several skirmishes, he realized that it was impossible to kill Song Jian head-on!
Sensing that Kun Jue seemed to be planning another escape, Song Jian took a Weakness Potion out of his bag and threw it violently onto the ground. A gray smoke rose, enveloping Kun Jue.
Kun Jue’s face turned pale when he found that his body’s surface seemed to be covered in a layer of gray dust, reducing his defense by almost half.
“What kind of potion is this!” Alarmed, Kun Jue immediately used his Vanish skill. A puff of white mist appeared and quickly dissipated, revealing Kun Jue had vanished from Song Jian’s sight.
“I won’t let you escape this time!” Song Jian muttered with a hint of coldness in his voice as he controlled the remaining twenty-nine blood wolves to search and attack freely.
Quickly, a blood wolf’s howl came from less than ten meters away, causing all other blood wolves to charge in its direction as if they heard the call to action.
