Chapter 78: A Promise made.
—--Bow!
They lowered their heads.
One thing any member of the Red Wings knew was to never underestimate the Goddess, that included looking her in the eye.
"I'm listening—"
Ishtar began to play with her finger.
Clears throats…
"My Goddess, when we tried to recover the man you sent us to abduct, we were met with a slight difficulty during our mission."
Zex was the first to speak, obviously he wanted to make sure the Goddess knew how sorry he was, he couldn't afford to make her even think the slightest bit negative.
"We had already abducted him, all that was left was to bring him to you but then–" he paused, glancing at Scorpion a bit before he continued, "He attacked us, we were barely able to fight back".
—--Ohhhh?
Ishtar seemed amused by what she had just heard.
"Did he now?" She didn't even attempt to hide her smile.
"Y-Yes" Zex nodded like a robot, anything was fine as long as she wasn't angry.
"He wouldn't be who he is if you all were able to take him that easily, he is simply beyond most mortals, if not all."
She turned her gaze to Scorpion.
—-Stareeee…
"That much is clear, but what is this I hear about a member of my own cult refusing to come back… no, perhaps I should say, staying with the man I had specially requested for."
Ishtar's anger had begun to brew up.
…Hmmm.
Scorpion began,
"According to what she told me, she wanted to spy on them and pass on the information she had gathered."
What?!
Zex's expression said it all. Scorpion never told him this, and even still, how on earth was Scorpion able to communicate with her? He was literally being a lazy rat while Zex did most of the heavy lifting.
"She did?" Ishtar asked.
Nod!
"I was fortunate enough to speak to her before she got abducted, the Traveler is strong and she knew we couldn't win. That man is nothing short of awesome, a thousand of us in the army would never stand a chance against him."
Scorpion made sure he didn't hold back on any of the praises.
The look on the rest of the cult members who were listening, was indeed alarming - whatever Scorpion was doing, was a direct stab to their pride
But Scorpion didn't care all that much about them to begin with.
"She wants to get a read on the enemy, and once she has enough information, she will immediately report back to us."
—-Sigh!
Ishtar placed her fist under her jaw as she looked at 002-
"Why didn't you tell me this? Are you trying to make me look like a fool for getting upset the way I did?"
"No my Goddess, when I asked, he never gave me this much detail. I would never do that to you intentionally." 002 was quick to defend herself.
Hmmm…
The Goddess looked back at Scorpion.
"And how long is this going to take? I do not have patience as you know."
Scorpion replied,
"In less than a month's time, she should be back to Unakel with more information…"
Now, his forehead was practically touching the ground -
"I know I have failed you, and that is not the way of a disciple who served under you. Please, give me one more chance, while 045 is busy with her mission there, I have a full proof plan that will guarantee the Traveler comes running to you for help."
…Oh?
Ishtar was intrigued, which said a lot since she was not the type to get caught so easily.
"Yes My Goddess, I beg that you put your faith in this lowly disciple once more."
'What on earth is he doing? Why would you say something that foolish? That's not what Sinex said! Freaking bastard wants to add me to his mess again!'
Zex tried to maintain his composure since he was still in front of the Goddess, but deep down he wanted nothing more than to punch Scorpion right in the mouth.
—Silence…

"Before me, you make a promise, before me you acknowledge that promise, and before me, my wrath will rain if you disappoint me once more, do you object?" The Goddess spoke.
Nod!---
Scorpion had no intention of taking back what he said- he was that confident.
The Goddess could tell this, one of her many abilities that she had picked up from interacting with humans.
Many lied, many made false promises when faced with uncertainty — but this man, this man had the pride of someone she knew.
"Very well, you have one month to bring back what I requested for, one day after, and I will not be so merciful as to just kill you…"
"Of course, I will willingly accept my punishment when I do fail, but be rest assured, my failure will not be coming."
Hmmm!
Ishtar wasn't pleased, but she also wasn't going to hold him down for it.
"You can leave, I'll like to have my peace now."
They all stood up, from the end, they walked out of the shrine, and all that was left was Scorpion, still down on his knees.
Grin!
He was fully prepared for what's to come.

The hologram hovered in front of him.
'I don't know man, something still doesn't feel right, is the other side doing alright?'
[Yes, I have secured a stable connection, information is going to be sent directly.]

Baaam…!
The window behind Ha Joon snapped open, and almost instantly, Sinex flew into the room, landing on his stable with her legs, and her arms stretched to the side.
Her mouth was filled with bread as she turned to face the traveler –
"Goof hmormiing Maturrr!"
