Chapter 22: Is that a mirror?
Chapter 22: Is that a mirror?
Catherine was slightly surprised at what the 'king' had said. What does he mean by 'I will grant them knowlege'?! Would he tell them some secrets of the world? Wait, what is he holding in his hands?
Needles? What the hell?
Catherine was utterly confused. But then she had a sudden thought that scared yet intrigued her.
She had heard that some ancient masters knew the lost art of aclupuntue? Was that what it was called? She didn't really know what it was called. But, she knew that they stabbed needles in various parts of a person's body to improve their health and for a lot of other positive outcomes.
But this was the first time she had heard of people stabbing others with needles to make them gain 'knowlege'.
Wait a second. Did that needle contain some evil curse that would bewitch them?! Was that why John was behaving so mindlessly, believing in something so far fetched with his whole heart?!
But before she could move away though, Harry had already stabbed the injectable into her neck.
----------------------
Harry looked at the woman he had just stabbed on the neck with an injectable with confusion.
Why was she not shivering or twitching or you know, behaving like she was in pain?!
[Do you want her to be in pain, host?]
The system asked that looking at her host's eagerness.
"O- Of Course Not! No way! Why would I want that?", shouted Harry.
[You do seem very eager for it though.]
"I'm not eager for her feeling pain! I'm eager for the injectable to work!", Harry said.
[Uhuh. That's totally believable.]
"ANYWAY! Why is she you know, not shivering and twitching?", Harry asked his system.
[The injectable affects different people differently depending on a variety of factors like their mental state.]
Harry nodded with realization.
---------------------
Catherine looked at her surroundings. She was surrounded by utter and total darkness. She grit her teeth and shouted angrily, "I knew it! That king is controlling people with dark magic!"
She suddenly felt cold. She had an intense urge to turn around, and she turned only to see herself staring back at her.
"W- what is this?! That's me! How am I able to see myself?! Is - is this glass!?", she said with astonishment.
Glass and mirrors existed in this world, but they were generally of low quality and people couldn't see their reflections extremely clearly, and they were only available to nobles, merchants and royals as glass was costly. Glass was made naturally by lightning, and while it was not extremely rare, it was still uncommon and was a product in demand.
Mirrors were not available to ordinary commoners and they only heard about it. The people of this world generally used clear water to see their reflections.
Catherine looked at her reflection and thought that it was the result of a mirror.
She looked at herself with glee.
"Ah. I look so beautiful. I should buy a mirror when I earn some money. But it's just soooo costly.", she talked to herself.
She was rambling on when she suddenly froze.
