Chapter 1178: Damon And Zekrom

Chapter 1178: Damon And Zekrom

The Great Flygon successfully broke through to the Elite level, directly using Dragon Rush to collide with the Braviary. With a loud "bang," the Braviary let out a pitiful cry before plummeting straight down.

As the Braviary fell, the spectators, who had been watching the battle unfold, screamed and hurriedly ran away, fearing they might be crushed by it. Fortunately, Yuga acted swiftly; Gengar appeared mid-air, using Psychic to catch the Braviary and gently lowering it to the ground.

At this point, the Braviary had already fainted.

"Braviary !" The young man rushed over to the Braviary, calling out in concern.

The Great Flygon slowly landed, and Yuga quickly ran over to check on the situation.

"Great Flygon, congratulations on your breakthrough! But how did you end up fighting with that Braviary?"

"Flygon..." The Great Flygon explained to Yuga what had happened.

It had been patrolling around Verdanturf Town with its little companions as usual when it happened upon the Braviary's trainer in a conflict with some villagers from a nearby village. Alarmed, the Great Flygon had jumped into the fray with the Braviary.

After hearing the story, Yuga patted its neck and said, "You should really get a clear picture of the situation before you act. What if it was just a misunderstanding?"

The Great Flygon nuzzled its neck against Yuga's palm, looking remorseful. It was very proactive in admitting its mistake, so Yuga found it hard to blame it.

After calming the Great Flygon, Yuga walked over to the young man and the Braviary and asked, "Are you both okay? Let me have my Chimecho heal your Braviary."

The young man looked up at Yuga, thought for a moment, and then nodded. "That would be helpful, thank you."

So, Yuga released Chimecho to heal the Braviary while subtly probing into the reason behind the young man's conflict with the villagers.

The young man didn't seem intent on hiding anything and told Yuga the entire story, clearing up the misunderstanding.

His name was Damon, he came from Eindoak Town in the Unova region and also a descendant of the People of the Vale.

Yuga knew about the People of the Vale. Ever since he heard about the ancient remnant clans, he had researched a lot of history and records about them. The People of the Vale, also called the People of the Earth, were one of these ancient remnant clans.

Nowadays, most People of the Vale live in Eindoak Town in the Unova region, though some remain scattered in other places.

Damon left Eindoak Town on a journey to locate these scattered People of the Vale, hoping to convince them to return to Eindoak Town.

Damon's lifelong wish is to restore the former glory of the People of the Vale.

The village that was not far from Verdanturf Town is home to the people Damon has been searching for. However, the villagers were unwilling to return to Eindoak Town, which led to a conflict with Damon. During their heated exchange, with some pushing and shoving, the Great Flygon misunderstood the situation.

After researching, Yuga remembered that Eindoak Town was the setting for the events of the original Pokémon movie: Black-Victini And Reshiram and Pokémon Movie: White-Victini And Zekrom. Due to the long passage of time, Yuga could only recall the general plot and barely remembered the characters' names or faces, except for the main cast. However, the character who triggered the events in the movie did travel around seeking the scattered People of the Vale and successfully brought them back to Eindoak Town. Yuga suspected that Damon might be that very person.

Upon learning that Damon wasn't genuinely in conflict with the villagers, Yuga apologized on behalf of the Great Flygon. "I'm really sorry. My Flygon thought you were bullying the villagers, which is why it intervened. I apologize on its behalf."

Just then, the Braviary woke up. Seeing it unharmed, Damon said, "If it's all a misunderstanding, no harm done. It's fine."

With the misunderstanding resolved, Yuga arranged a place for Damon to stay in Verdanturf Town as a gesture of apology.

That night, thunder suddenly rolled over Verdanturf Town, and golden lightning flashed within the clouds, casting an oppressive atmosphere over the town.

Yuga stood by his bedroom window, watching the sky, feeling something amiss. Such unusual weather had never occurred in Verdanturf Town before.

Meanwhile, three Dragon-type Pokémon were locked in a standoff within the clouds over Verdanturf Town.

If Yuga had seen these three Pokémon, he would have immediately recognized two of them as Rayquaza: one that had once been struck down by Deoxys and Chimecho, and another one is the one that was cloned by the Draconid People. The third figure facing off against the two Rayquaza was none other than Zekrom, one of the Legendary Dragon-type of Unova Region.

With a Legendary Pokémon from Unova appearing in Hoenn, the Rayquaza felt their territory was being infringed upon as the guardians of Hoenn's skies.

"Roar!"

"Roar!"

The two Rayquaza roared with warnings at Zekrom, trying to make it leave Hoenn. The black Rayquaza was mutated by a giant meteorite, while the green one, though it was just a clone, had now become a true companion to Rayquaza. The green Rayquaza was still alive because Rayquaza had given it its own Jade Orb.

"Roar!"

Zekrom responded with a powerful roar, showing no intention of leaving.

Rayquaza is not known for its patience, and after Zekrom's refusal, it and the cloned Rayquaza simultaneously unleashed golden beams of light at Zekrom.

Hyper Beam!

Zekrom let out a fierce roar, and the cone-shaped tail on its back erupted with a strong current of electricity as it charged, glowing gold, directly into the two incoming Hyper Beams.

As the three legendary Pokémon clashed, a deafening boom reverberated across Verdanturf Town's sky, waking up many people from their sleep.

Yuga frowned as he stood at his window, thinking about the flash of golden light he had just glimpsed. Something felt off about this strange weather.

In the Paradise Hotel, Damon stood by the window, gazing up at the sky with a face full of worry, fearing that something might happen to Zekrom.

After a long contemplation, Damon released Braviary and instructed it, "Go check on Zekrom. I'm a bit concerned."

Braviary nodded, flapping its wings and soaring into the darkened sky.

By this point, Zekrom's battle with the two Rayquaza had reached an intense peak. With two opponents, Zekrom was at a clear disadvantage.

Bang!

One Rayquaza struck Zekrom hard with Dragon Tail, which Zekrom blocked using Bolt Strike, but then the cloned Rayquaza's Dragon Tail followed swiftly, landing heavily on Zekrom's back.

Buzz!

In immense pain, Zekrom roared, its tail turbine flashing wildly with a golden current that erupted, forcing both Rayquaza to back off.

At that moment, Braviary happened to enter the clouds.

The rampant currents surged wildly, and before Braviary could react, it was caught in them, plummeting toward the ground, smoking all over.

The clash of these three legendary Pokémon was far too powerful for Braviary, a pseudo-Elite Pokémon, to approach. The electric shock left it barely clinging to life.

After staring at the sky for a while without understanding what was going on, Yuga decided to head back to sleep, but then he heard a loud crash from his rooftop. He quickly sent Gengar out to investigate.

When Gengar returned and bringing a charred Braviary, Yuga was shocked, thinking, What is this dark, smoky things?

Thankfully, his sharp eye offered a hint: it was Braviary, and specifically, Damon's Braviary.

There was no time to ponder what had happened. Yuga immediately called out Chimecho to provide emergency treatment and rushed out to bring Braviary to the Pokémon Center.

With such serious injuries, Yuga knew he couldn't handle it alone and had to ask for help from Joyka.

Before leaving, he sent Chatot to notify Damon at the Paradise Hotel about Braviary 's condition.

It was the middle of the night, and Joyka, roused from a deep sleep by Yuga, was understandably annoyed. However, as soon as she saw the charred Braviary, all her irritation vanished, and she hurried with Blissey to bring it into the emergency room.

When Damon anxiously arrived at the Pokémon Center, the thunder and roaring in the sky had finally subsided, and Braviary was still undergoing emergency treatment.

"Thank you so much, Gym Leader Yuga! If you hadn't spotted it in time, I can't imagine what would have happened to my Braviary!" Damon said gratefully to Yuga, still worrying about Zekrom, with whom he had suddenly lost contact.

"No need to thank me. I just happened to see it," Yuga replied with a wave.

Moments later, Joyka rushed out of the emergency room, urgently telling Damon,

"I suspect your Braviary was injured by a legendary Pokémon. I can't clear the residual energy from its body, and it's looking bad."

Joyka, living up to her reputation as a Nurse Joy, quickly pinpointed the root of Braviary's injuries.

"A legendary Pokémon?"

Yuga was surprised, wondering if there was a legendary Pokémon near Verdanturf Town. He hadn't noticed the specifics of Braviary's injuries earlier, being too focused on getting it to the Pokémon Center in time.

He immediately thought of the strange weather from earlier.

Damon had a hunch about the source of Braviary's injuries, but he had no solution to the problem.

Without any word from Zekrom, he paced nervously, feeling deeply anxious.

At this moment, Yuga spoke up, "I'll go check it out."

Joyka looked at Yuga and gave a silent nod. She knew that Yuga was dependable in critical moments.

After Joyka's treatment, Braviary no longer had its charred appearance, though its once-glorious feathers were gone.

Yuga inspected Braviary's wounds, confirming that there was residual legendary aura, and it was indeed from a Tier 1 Legendary Pokémon. Having encountered several legendary Pokémon, he was well aware of the strength of a Tier 1 Legendary's legendary aura.

An Electric-type Tier 1 Legendary Pokémon? As far as Yuga knew, there was only one—Zekrom.

Zekrom came to Verdanturf Town? Thinking of Damon, Yuga felt he was close to the truth.

Yuga summoned Gengar, asking it to fetch Dragonite. He had rushed out so quickly that, apart from his Ghost-type Pokémon stored in the shadow space, he hadn't brought any others. Now only Dragonite could save Braviary.

Gengar nodded and vanished. A few minutes later, Dragonite landed at the Pokémon Center entrance.

With Dragonite's help in purging the legendary aura, Joyka's treatment was completed swiftly, and Braviary was out of danger. Damon was deeply grateful to Yuga.

Once Braviary was safe, Yuga left the Pokémon Center and returned home, leaving Damon to care for Braviary on his own.

The next day, the sky over Verdanturf Town was clear and sunny, as if the thunder from the night before had been a mere illusion. Those who heard the thunder thought it had rained overnight, yet the town was bone-dry, without a trace of rainfall.

Although Yuga suspected Zekrom's presence in Verdanturf Town, he had no intention of investigating further as long as there was no disturbance.

However, things seldom go as one wishes. In the morning, as he was working with Misaki and the others in the studio to make Pokéblocks, the Berry Mixer suddenly stopped operating.

"Hey, what's going on? Why did it just stop?"

Thinking the mixer had broken down, Misaki began tapping it to see if it would start up again.

Anya, checking her own Berry Mixer, commented, "It looks like a power outage."

"A power outage? That can't be!" Yuga checked his own mixer as well. "It shouldn't be; we've hardly had any outages since Verdanturf Town built the power plant."

"Seems like we're really out of power." After a round of checks, it turned out that Anya was right.

As Yuga finished speaking, Mayor Ishida suddenly called him and inform him that something had happened at the Sunflora Power Plant. All the electricity that was stored had been vanished overnight.

Another problem? The Sunflora Power Plant sure is trouble-prone! Yuga immediately thought of Zekrom.

Speaking of which, Braviary's injuries last night were quite odd too. Why would Zekrom injured Braviary? If Zekrom had indeed been brought by Damon, they should be on the same side.

There was no time for further thoughts. Yuga quickly rode Dragonite to the Sunflora Power Plant.

The entire town was now without power, which severely impacted the Verdanturf Town's daily life and production.

When Yuga arrived at the power plant, the Sunflora were busy generating electricity, sending wave after wave of Solar Beam, turning the daytime sky into a golden hue.

With Dragonite, Yuga toured the power plant, eventually finding the traces of legendary aura in the area where the electricity was stored—identical to that on Braviary's wounds.

Meanwhile, Damon, who had been watching over Braviary at the Pokémon Center all night, immediately thought of Zekrom upon hearing about the town-wide power outage. After asking Joyka to take care of Braviary, he rushed to the Sunflora Power Plant.

Yuga and Dragonite thoroughly searched the entire power plant but failed to find the thief who had stolen the electricity.

At that moment, Zekrom was resting deep in Petalburg Woods. The battle with the two Rayquaza the previous night had left it injured and drained of a significant amount of electrical energy, forcing it to steal the power from the Sunflora Power Plant early this morning.

Just as Zekrom was about to close its eyes to recuperate, a dragon's roar startled it awake, and shortly after, a young man with green hair descended from the sky on a white dragon-like Pokémon.

"Zekrom, we meet again!" the young man spoke in a gentle voice. "Are you ready to come back with us?"

Seeing Zekrom looking at him warily, the young man smiled, "Seems like you're not willing."

As he prepared to face Zekrom in battle, a green and a black Rayquaza descended from the sky.
