Chapter 1183: One Person Overpowers Kyogre

Chapter 1183: One Person Overpowers Kyogre

Steven hadn't expected Yuga to arrive so quickly. Initially, he had informed Mr. Koni'o first, but Mr. Koni'o didn't make it in time. Instead, Yuga, whom he contacted later, arrived first — and even brought along the powerful ally Giratina.

Yuga's sudden appearance shocked not only Steven but also Ariana and Proton, who were lurking in the shadows.

"How did he get here so fast? Didn't you say the news was sealed, and he wouldn't be able to make it?" Ariana demanded furiously, her voice filled with frustration.

To Ariana, Shimizu Yuga was practically her lifelong nemesis.

"How should I know!" Proton retorted in a low growl, equally puzzled. Who could have predicted Yuga would use Giratina's ability to traverse the Distortion World?

With Giratina's Dragon Pulse forcing Dark Lugia back, the clone Rayquaza finally had a moment to catch its breath. Its real power couldn't match a true Legendary and was no match for Dark Lugia, so it quickly turned around to put distance between itself and its attacker.

The clone Rayquaza, wracked with pain, felt as though its body didn't even belong to itself anymore.

"Giratina, I'll leave this Lugia to you!"

Yuga released his Dragonite, climbed onto its back, and entrusted Giratina with the task.

Giratina nodded in response, finding Lugia's appearance particularly strange.

The true Lugia, the Guardian of the Seas, belonged to the orderly faction of Legendary Pokémon, just like Giratina, and they knew each other. But Giratina had no knowledge of this Dark Lugia before it.

Dark Lugia, furious, turned to face Giratina, who had ambushed it, and charged at it with a Sky Attack.

Unfazed, Giratina countered with its own Shadow Force and charged straight back.

Boom!

The two Legendary Pokémon's powerful clash sent shockwaves across the surroundings, causing the mountains to crumble and the frozen sea to crack open with massive fissures, with waves surging out. Yuga and Dragonite were thrown back by the impact, and even the ice below fractured from the force.

Rayquaza, who was struggling against Kyogre and Groudon, sighed in relief, seeing the clone Rayquaza now had Giratina's support.

Had Yuga and Giratina not arrived, it feared its clone partner wouldn't have made it. It had just managed to revive the clone — it couldn't let it fall here.

Indeed, the clone Rayquaza had already been severely injured by Dark Lugia and could no longer continue fighting.

After all, a clone was still a clone; even with the help of the Jade Orb, it had narrowly escaped certain death, but its abilities still fell far short of a true Legendary Pokémon.

After steadying himself on Dragonite, Yuga looked up at the giant, multicolored stone hovering silently in the sky. The stone emitted a radiant glow, and even without approaching it, Yuga could feel the oppressive energy emanating from it.

This rainbow stone was the very source of the battle among these Legendary Pokémon.

"Dragonite, let's go help Rayquaza." Yuga patted Dragonite's head.

"Dragonite!"

Dragonite let out a loud cry and sped toward Rayquaza, who was working with Steven to hold off Kyogre and Groudon.

"Steven, Rayquaza! You two handle Groudon; I'll take care of Kyogre," Yuga called out loudly to Steven and Rayquaza.

Rayquaza, hearing this, immediately disengaged from Kyogre. In its mind, a ruthless guy like Yuga taking on Kyogre was just the right match for a villain against a villain.

Steven, however, looked worried. "Just you? Can you handle it?" Though he knew Yuga's strength had already surpassed his own, Kyogre was still a Legendary Pokémon, after all.

"I don't have to defeat it, just hold it off until Giratina or Rayquaza has a free hand."

Hearing this, Steven finally directed his Metagross to assist Rayquaza.

Kyogre flapped its fins, attempting to chase after Rayquaza and Steven, but Yuga quickly summoned Lapras.

"Ah, oooh..."

Lapras called out to Kyogre from afar. Perhaps due to a connection in their bloodline, Kyogre paused for a brief moment.

It stared intently at Lapras, its gaze shifting slightly, but then, with no mercy, it launched a Water Pulse straight at Lapras, as if forgetting it had once taught Lapras skills and given it gifts.

Compared to the precious stone, any kinship with Lapras meant little.

Lapras tilted its body to the side, narrowly dodging Kyogre's Water Pulse.

Seeing that an emotional appeal didn't work, Yuga promptly recalled Lapras.

"Alright then, let's go all out!"

With that, Yuga released his lineup of Grass-type Pokémon: Florges, Bellossom, Venusaur, Roserade, Torterra, and Serperior. Since the sea's surface was frozen by Kyogre, there was solid ground for the Pokémon to stand on.

"Everyone, form the formation!"

At Yuga's command, the six Pokémon spread out. Bellossom, Venusaur, Roserade, Torterra, and Serperior took positions in five different spots, forming a large circle, with Florges standing in the center.

Kyogre floated above, directly over Florges.

"Begin!" Yuga shouted.

"Bana!"

Bellossom was the first to act, lightly stomping on the ice, sending a green beam like an arrow along the ice toward Florges.

"Roserade!" Next was Roserade.

"Serpior!" Then Serperior.

...

When all five green beams converged on Florges, she opened her arms, releasing a surge of green light that radiated outward.

The five beams represented Grassy Terrain from each of Bellossom and her companions. But this time, instead of spreading as a field, they served as Florges's "batteries."

Florges's innate ability allowed her to control flowers she cultivated and tended to herself. Bellossom and the others, having been with Florges for a long time, had become like flowers she nurtured; they shared a special connection.

The five Grass-type Pokémon and Florges were now of one mind and body.

The green light penetrated the thick ice layer and reached the seabed, bringing an unprecedented vitality. The once lifeless seaweed started growing madly.

One meter, two meters, three meters... wider and wider...

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

At last, the ice surface shattered as countless strands of dark green seaweed broke through. The seaweed, like massive, thrashing dragons, lunged at Kyogre, quickly wrapping around its tail, fins, head, and body.

"Dragonite!"

While Florges and her team were busy, Dragonite wasn't idle.

After Yuga switched to Charizard, Dragonite shot up high into the sky. Shortly after, thick layers of dark clouds began to gather overhead, seemingly ready to press down at any moment, looking ominous.

The moisture from the sea made it convenient and quick for Dragonite to use Rain Dance.

"Boom!" A thunderclap echoed as golden lightning crackled within the dark clouds, its jagged flashes threatening to strike at any moment.

Hidden in the shadows, Ariana, Proton, and the others felt a pang of unease, as if something terrible was about to happen.

"Roar!!!"

Kyogre struggled fiercely, breaking free of the seaweed binding it, piece by piece. Once it was free, it opened its mouth and launched an Ice Beam straight toward Florges below.

Crack!

A lightning bolt transformed into a massive dragon, striking Kyogre's blue beam, neutralizing both attacks.

Kyogre prepared to attack again, but another thick bolt of lightning crashed down, striking its back directly.

"Roar!!!"

The intense pain drove Kyogre to writhe wildly. Just then, countless strands of seaweed gathered together, forming into even thicker "grass ropes."

Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!

More than a dozen of these enormous "grass ropes" instantly wrapped around Kyogre's body. Kyogre thrashed about madly, but the ropes held firm.

"Roar!"

Suddenly, rings of water formed around Kyogre, forcing the "grass ropes" to loosen slightly.

"Florges!"

Florges called out, and the five other Grass-type Pokémon instantly shot another green beam toward her. The green light around Florges flared up once more.

Splash, splash...

More seaweed emerged from the ocean, breaking through the ice, then gradually climbed up the ropes binding Kyogre, making the "grass ropes" even thicker.

Creak, creak!

The ropes tightened further, until Kyogre was unable to move even an inch.

Crack!

Another thick bolt of lightning struck Kyogre's back with force.

Ariana and Proton, who were observing from a nearby cloaked aircraft, felt the turbulence caused by the thunderclouds. The aircraft shook so much that it nearly revealed their location.

"This is terrifying! Unbelievable! He's managing to suppress Kyogre all on his own!" Proton murmured, watching the live footage on the monitor.

Ariana's expression was equally grim. Yuga's strength was beyond her expectations. Team Rocket had gone through tremendous effort to get Kyogre and Groudon to assist them, only to face not only Giratina but also Yuga, who alone was keeping Kyogre at bay.

In truth, in the past, Yuga would have been powerless against Kyogre. But since Florges had been trained by Tapu Bulu, her strength had grown tremendously. Combined with the type advantage of Electric and Grass moves against Water-type Pokémon, they managed to suppress Kyogre for the time being.

Meanwhile, Giratina was evenly matched with Dark Lugia, while Mega Rayquaza, together with Steven, had Groudon under heavy attack.

Seeing the situation increasingly turn in their favor, Yuga thought that as long as he could keep Kyogre suppressed, victory was just a matter of time.

Then, just at that moment, the previously still giant stone suddenly erupted in radiant light.

"Roar!"

"Roar!"

Groudon and Kyogre called out in unison toward the giant stone, which, as if responding to their call, projected two beams of prismatic light onto them.

Buzz! Buzz!

The forms of Groudon and Kyogre underwent a massive transformation.

Golden markings appeared across Groudon's body, resembling flowing magma. Instantly, it launched a Solar Beam, forcing Mega Rayquaza and Steven back, then followed up with a Precipice Blades aimed straight at Rayquaza.

Steven's Metagross had already completed its Mega Evolution. It quickly raised a Reflect wall in front of Rayquaza, but the wall shattered in less than three seconds. Still, it managed to buy Rayquaza enough time to dodge.

Kyogre's body had grown larger, with golden lines rippling like water across its skin. With a powerful swing of its two front fins, it snapped the "grass ropes" binding it.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

Countless strands of seaweed continued to break through the ice, gathering together into thicker and thicker "grass ropes." Each time Kyogre broke one, another immediately took its place.

Crack! Crack!

To wear down Kyogre's strength, golden dragon-shaped bolts of lightning, controlled by Dragonite, kept crashing down toward it.

Inside the aircraft, Proton watched Kyogre and Groudon's transformations with excitement and said, "Primal Reversion! This is the Primal Reversion you mentioned in your data report? This is... incredible."

Ariana also looked pleased. Kyogre and Groudon's Primal Reversions had come at just the right time; moments earlier, she had nearly felt the mission was about to fail.

As Lysandre had said, the giant stone was indeed the true treasure!

But it wasn't only Team Rocket agents hidden nearby. Maxie and Ghetsis were also silently observing the battle.

"This is your idea of taking advantage of chaos?" Ghetsis asked Maxie with a dark expression. "Do you think you can handle Rayquaza, Kyogre, or Groudon?"

Forget about the Legendary Pokémon—they couldn't even deal with the two League Trainers.

"Do you think I invited you here just to watch?" Maxie replied irritably. "Don't think I don't know—you have Reshiram on your side!"

"You!" Ghetsis was speechless with rage. Maxie didn't yet know that Team Plasma's Reshiram had been seized by the League, but Ghetsis couldn't reveal this. Who knew if Maxie would use that information to betray them?

"Either way, I'm not dealing with those monsters!" Ghetsis snapped, storming out of the control room.

Once away from Maxie, Ghetsis quickly dialed Colress and sent him the live footage of the battle.

"Who is that person?" Colress asked in surprise, pointing at Yuga, who was fighting Kyogre head-on.

"That's Shimizu Yuga, the Gym Leader of Verdanturf Gym in Hoenn," Ghetsis replied.

"He's incredibly strong, almost excessively so! Looks like the Hoenn region is gaining another Master-level Trainer," Colress remarked, marveling.

Colress, a scientist with some eccentric tendencies, was usually more focused on his field and wasn't particularly attentive to external matters. Thus, while Yuga was famous, Colress hadn't known much about him.

"Indeed," Ghetsis agreed, nodding. He felt that it was getting increasingly difficult for dark organizations to survive. The League was producing more powerful young Trainers lately—look at Caitlin in Unova; she was a truly formidable individual too.

"It's very fascinating," Colress said, intently watching the battle footage. "If you're hoping to take advantage of the situation, forget it. With him there, you won't get the chance. Just leave."

"I was just thinking that!" Ghetsis said angrily. "Maxie only dragged me here to use me as a pawn."

Meanwhile, on the ocean's surface...

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Enraged at its continued entanglement in the "grass ropes," Kyogre gave up trying to break free. Instead, it launched an Origin Pulse directly at Florges.

Four beams flashed across, carving deep abysses into the entire ocean surface.
