Chapter 237: Talisman Annihilates the Enemy

Chapter 237: Talisman Annihilates the Enemy

The Beast Spirit Sect, led by five cultivators surnamed Crane, has already lost three of their members in the battle. However, their main target, Wang Hong, remains alive.

They underestimated Wang Hong's strength. They initially thought of him as an ordinary second-tier Alchemist with only early Foundation Building cultivation, someone they could easily defeat.

But to their surprise, Wang Hong withstood attacks from both early and late Foundation Building cultivators without being killed, and he had allies by his side.

One of the Crane cultivators, feeling desperate, exerted all his strength to strike at Wang Hong. He wanted the fight to end as quickly as possible.

Wang Hong, seeing a late Foundation Building cultivator's Flying Sword coming at him again, knew he couldn't afford to take the hit in his weakened state. He hastily took out three second-tier defensive Talismans and threw them forward. In an instant, they activated, forming three layers of sturdy defenses in front of him.

The Flying Sword sliced through the first layer of defenses in an instant, turning it into Spirit Qi that dissipated into the air. The second layer met a similar fate, lasting only a moment before becoming Spirit Qi.

"Haha! Let's see how many second-tier Talismans you have and how long they can hold me back!" the Crane cultivator laughed. Second-tier Talismans were not cheap, and he doubted that Wang Hong could afford to use many of them.

Each Talisman he threw represented a significant expenditure of Spirit Stone resources. Even if Wang Hong was a wealthy Alchemist, he couldn't sustain such consumption.

The Crane cultivator had never considered that Wang Hong, in addition to being an Alchemist, was also skilled in Talisman crafting. Both of these arts required a great deal of time and resources to master, and excelling in even one of them was no small feat.

As the Crane cultivator continued to attack with the Flying Sword, Wang Hong took action once more. He threw out three layers of enormous wooden shield Talismans, which formed massive shields in front of him.

The Crane cultivator was surprised to see that Wang Hong indeed possessed second-tier defensive Talismans. However, he wasn't too concerned; he could simply strike a few more times.

But then, to his shock, after Wang Hong had thrown the three wooden shields, he pulled out a stack of Talismans. At first glance, there seemed to be over twenty of them, and all of them were second-tier Talismans.

Each of these Talismans was equivalent to the full-force attack of an early to mid-Foundation Building cultivator. Facing more than twenty Foundation Building cultivators simultaneously was a daunting prospect even for him.

The Crane cultivator's face paled, and he hastily recalled his Flying Sword, allowing it to circle around him to help defend against the onslaught of Talisman attacks.

Before activating the Talismans, Wang Hong had already withdrawn his Poisonous Bees that had been harassing the Crane cultivator. They were now assisting in the encirclement of the other two Foundation Building cultivators.

These two Foundation Building cultivators, one in the early stage and the other in the middle stage, were facing the combined attacks of Wang Hong's nine subordinates, along with Little Peng. Surprisingly, they appeared to handle the situation with ease.

Among Wang Hong's nine subordinates, two were also Foundation Building cultivators, but they had only recently achieved this level and had not yet stabilized their Realms. Moreover, their Spiritual Weapons were temporary, unrefined tools with limited power.

Fortunately, Ling Shuai had joined the fray later on. Despite his injuries, as a mid-Foundation Building cultivator, he was able to help contain the other mid-Foundation Building cultivator from the enemy side, ensuring the situation remained under control.

As the swarm of Poisonous Bees flew towards them, the two remaining enemies had no choice but to divert their attention from attacking others and quickly defend themselves.

*Boom! Boom!*

Wang Hong unleashed over twenty second-tier Talismans simultaneously, targeting the copper bell that the Crane cultivator had summoned for protection.

The invisible ripples emanating from the copper bell disappeared, and it crashed to the ground, with the residual power of the Talismans creating numerous large holes in the Daoist Robe of the Crane cultivator.

"Haha! Your Talismans can't kill me either. Are you out of tricks? Go ahead and use more Talismans!" Despite his disheveled appearance, the Crane cultivator's injuries weren't severe after the Talisman's power was blocked by the copper bell.

He had only suffered some superficial wounds, which for Foundation Building cultivators were akin to being pricked by a needle for Mortals.

He believed that Wang Hong had just used all of his Talismans in a desperate attempt.

However, reality disappointed him. Just as he had summoned his Flying Sword, intending to behead Wang Hong and conclude this unpleasant mission, Wang Hong pulled out another stack of second-tier Talismans. Judging by their quantity, there were even more than the previous batch.

"What the hell!" Who would carry this many Talismans on them? Even if they emptied the entire wealth of a second-tier Alchemist, it wouldn't necessarily yield so many second-tier Talismans.

That was because such second-tier Talismans weren't something you could simply buy with Spirit Stones. Even if they could be acquired, they were of considerable value, and cultivators still had to expend other resources to create them.

At this point, Wang Hong had already locked onto the Crane cultivator with his Divine Sense, and he sent a barrage of second-tier Talismans flying towards him.

Although the Crane cultivator managed to deflect a few of the Talismans with his Flying Sword, he was soon overwhelmed by a swarm of second-tier Talismans. He screamed in agony, then ultimately turned into a pile of ashes.

After slaying the Crane cultivator, Wang Hong didn't rush to collect the spoils on the ground but instead turned his attention to the remaining battlefield.

The two remaining Foundation Building cultivators were barely holding on, relying on their defensive Spiritual Weapons. Their Spiritual Power was rapidly depleting as it flowed into their protective tools.

Ling Shuai and the others continued their relentless attacks on the two men's defensive Spiritual Weapons.

Seeing that only two enemies remained and that they were already at a disadvantage, Wang Hong no longer felt the need to join the siege personally. Instead, he walked towards the fallen Qi Cultivation stage subordinate.

After repeatedly investigating the subordinate with his Divine Sense, Wang Hong's expression darkened.

This subordinate had been impaled through the heart by a sword, causing his heart to shatter into more than ten pieces. His body was now cold, his pupils dilated a clear sign of death.

Although cultivators had strong vitality, before reaching the Golden Core stage, once their hearts were pierced, death was inevitable.

In the Golden Core stage and beyond, cultivators possessed various means and techniques to preserve their lives. There were countless ways to escape death, and some Nascent Soul experts were rumored to be able to survive even if their physical bodies were destroyed.

Wang Hong then checked Wen Lan's condition and found that although he remained unconscious, his life should be safe.

"Capture them alive!"

Furious at the loss of his loyal subordinate who had followed him for many years, Wang Hong burned with anger. He wanted to seek revenge.

He needed to know who their adversaries were and why they had come to attack him.

Wang Hong could sense that this wasn't the work of the Shadow Kill Organization; their modus operandi was different. Before coming to Jin'an City, he had inquired and confirmed that there was no branch of the Shadow Kill Organization here. It was unlikely they would extend their reach to this area for his sake alone.

The group formed a circle, trapping the two remaining enemies within. Wang Hong and Little Peng flew above, making it impossible for the two foes to escape.
