Infinite Potential System

Chapter 466 Draconim

All this is great and all... but where can I upgrade my Talents? Clearly it's not safe here... William thought to himself as he finished checking his Status Panel.

It would have to be a location where no one could spy on him, but what kind of place would that be? Even if he acquired his own residence, William still wouldn't be able to conceal his presence from the truly powerful Cultivators.

At least, not unless he could somehow use higher-tiered Arrays, which wasn't possible unless he could safely upgrade his Talents. It was a closed loop!

Wait a minute! William suddenly thought of something.

If I need a private area to upgrade my Talents... wouldn't a naturally formed Dungeon be the perfect place?

-It could work, as long as a Planar Deity Cultivator or above isn't paying attention. If that's the case, you might want to wait until you can travel between Planes. There are too many sets of eyes in this Plane, someone is bound to notice.

The System gave its approval and a warning at the same time, but William was happy with its answer. If he got caught, worst case scenario William would have to abandon the Slightveil Plane. It wouldn't be difficult with some money and the help of the System.

I guess this was a perfect time for Tenningbrew to invite me to the Dungeon. I should be able to get in and out without causing any trouble.

William opened the envelope and read its contents, which contained a list of instructions on how to get to the Quake Dungeon, also serving as a letter of approval from Professor Tenningbrew. As long as he had it with him, no one should have any reason to stop him from going inside.

"Checking out, Excellent Cultivator William?" a male attendant at the front desk asked as William was headed towards the front doors.

"Ah, not yet." William turned around to respond. "I might be gone for a few days, is that alright?"

The attendant narrowed his eyes, his demeanor changing slightly in response to William's seemingly simple question.

"You're not planning to... nap and dash... are you?"

William couldn't help but laugh out loud, "Nap and dash? Not at all!"

"Hmm." the attendant had seen many poor Cultivators pretending to be righteous individuals. He wasn't going to take William's words at face value. Instead, he pointed to a sign that read "Taking a trip? Pay for your room in advance!"

William sighed and nodded his head. To be honest, he did consider not paying for his room, but that might be a little overboard and could get him into some unnecessary trouble.

-You mean to say that if there weren't harsh consequences you would leave without paying?

Naturally. Gotta save money, you know.

-You're despicable.

I'll take that as a compliment. William shrugged as he decided to check out from the hotel instead of paying for extra nights. Worst-case scenario, he would rest in the Dungeon.

At the same time, he made sure to notify Atticus through the System so he could come along. He didn't want to leave Atticus in the hotel room, where someone else might kill or even steal him.

Regardless of his impressive Illusion Affinity, Atticus wasn't nearly strong enough to evade the detection of the strong Cultivators. William had already noticed a few odd glances on the street while walking around with his Companion, but thankfully no one was interested in taking the Mythical Rat Snake from him.

The status of Excellent Cultivator had a few advantages, at least. Either that or they just didn't see Atticus' extraordinary value.

After leaving the hotel, William spent a few hours roaming the market for supplies related to dungeon raiding. One store in particular sold some special glow torches called Spirilights, which lit up everything around them within a radius of ten kilometers and would last for 12 hours.

They were up for sale at a price of three Mana Stones per, but William managed to bargain with the shopkeeper down to a flat one per. He bought two hundred, storing them all in one of his Titanium Space Rings.

While William had the Vision Talent, it was better safe than sorry. The regular Mana Stone income from his World Efretta was enough to easily cover the cost of the Spirilights and more.

-You'll spend two hundred on torches but won't spare an extra few Mana Stones on the hotel. Makes sense.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

You'll never know when I need light, but keeping the hotel is just a waste. System, sometimes I wonder if you are human or not. Continue reading at empire

-What does that have to do with anything?

Nothing. You're just a little weird.

-And you're a special snowflake. What about it?

...I can't even go one day without your mental abuse.

The System went silent while William traveled South. Two hundred thousand kilometers was still a considerable distance to William, especially when he hadn't visited the area before. Even while following the route described in the envelope, William was about as fast as a weak Tribulation Transcendence Cultivator.

His ability to fly was more restricted than when he was in the Mortal Realms, and teleportation was slightly less efficient as well. The further south William went, the greater the restrictions until his speed was reduced to the lower stages of the Soul Formation Realm.

Oh, fuck! What is that?!? William shouted in his mind when the evening sky suddenly turned two stages darker. It wasn't the sunset, but the shadow of a massive flying creature that stood between William and the rays of light.

Its face was brutish and almost humanoid, but its skin color was light red, almost pink in color. There was a singular spiraling horn projecting from its forehead like a unicorn, and its eyes were a solid grey sphere.

While its looks weren't nightmarish to say the least, William found himself covered in sweat merely from scanning it with his Bestiary. His arms and legs shook with subconscious fear, while something within his Sea of Consciousness rumbled slightly.

[Bestiary] Giant Draconim: +1PP

I thought the Professor said the route was safe! Is this what he means by safe?!? William concealed his aura and lay flat on the ground in hopes that the powerful Magical Beast wouldn't notice him. If he had to guess, its Cultivation was at least two Realms above him, maybe three.

His second time out in the wild and his life was already at risk. A blast of wind pressed against William's body while the creature passed overhead, threatening to roll him but somehow blocked by the Stable Footing Talent. A second gust followed soon afterward, followed by silence as the Giant Draconim left the range of William's Vision Talent.

William dusted himself off and continued his journey south, arriving at a stone fortress roughly the size of a Mortal City that was dotted with low-ranking Slightveil guards. At the entrance, less than ten students wearing the Filem Academy emblem could be seen waiting in line.

"You're not wearing the Filem Academy's standard uniform. Are you a first-year or an outsider?" a guard asked when William reached the front of the line.
