Chapter 627: Chapter 627 - The Wandering Iceblade
In the scorching midday heat, the desert sun blazed mercilessly over the vast sandy expanse. Chaos? No, this was more like a massacre.
Hundreds of monsters swarmed in one direction, their savage attacks focused entirely on a solitary figure standing at the center of the chaos. It was unmistakably a player.
His gamer tag read 'Frostedge', a man with long black hair tied neatly at the back. He wears armor in shades of silver and blue, decorated with icy patterns. A flowing silver-trimmed blue cloak trails behind him. He wields a glowing silver sword radiating frosty energy.
The man charged his sword. With a powerful slash to the ground, a wave of icy energy burst forth, spreading like an intricate network of frost that ensnared and froze the oncoming monsters in their tracks.
Without hesitation, the warrior launched himself forward, slicing through the frozen creatures with remarkable speed.
The battle raged on. Eventually, as the icy energy dissipated, the field fell silent. Every single monster lay defeated, their forms shattered like fragile ice under the desert sun.
Left standing amidst the carnage was the man himself, his Asian features illuminated by a satisfied smile, clearly pleased with the outcome of the fight.
"Oh, the monsters around this area are quite high level," he remarked, brushing sand from his cloak as he turned his gaze toward a distant.
"They said the ruler of that city is a player? Interesting. Maybe I'll stay there for a while."
Frostedge threw his sword into the air, and instead of falling, it hovered effortlessly, suspended in the air.
With a graceful leap, he landed atop the floating blade. The sword shot forward, gliding low over the barren desert landscape. As it sped along, shards of ice occasionally dropped from it, piercing the sand below like.
After some time, Frostedge's sharp eyes caught sight of a group in the distance. A handful of figures were locked in battle with monsters, drawing his attention immediately. He observed them closely and realized with surprise that they weren't players-they were NPCs.
Not just any NPCs, though. They bore matching emblems, and from their disciplined coordination, they appeared to be knights or guards. Frostedge's smile widened. Could they be knights from the city he had been planning to visit?
Intrigued, he urged his sword forward and drew closer. The group consisted of four individuals—a magic swordsman, a sword fighter, an archer, and a woman hefting a massive greatsword.
"Oh," Frostedge murmured, his eyes fixed on the magic swordsman. "That one's skill with a sword is quite impressive. Rarely do I see NPCs with techniques that good."
He approached further, observing the battle with growing interest. The knights displayed remarkable prowess, their fighting styles distinct yet complementary. They executed their moves with precision, each showcasing exceptional solo abilities while still working as a cohesive unit.
As the battle concluded and the last of the monsters fell, Frostedge clapped his hands in genuine admiration.
However, one of the knights seemed to notice his presence and fixed him with a sharp glare. As the knight began to approach, Frostedge gracefully descended from his floating sword and gave a polite bow.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing here?" snapped the magic swordsman, whose name read Orion.
Frostedge smiled faintly. "Pardon me. I'm a wandering player, traveling from place to place in search of things I haven't encountered before. I was planning to visit the nearest city... Slumdon Town, isn't it?"
"Shut up!" Orion barked. "Are you here to cause trouble for the town? I'll kill you and send you crying back to your mom."
Frostedge blinked, genuinely startled. "No, no, you've got it wrong. I only want to visit and stay for a while. The monsters in this area are high-level, and I thought it'd be interesting-" "Shut up," Orion interrupted again, his gaze shifting to the glowing sword Frostedge held. "A magic swordsman, huh?"
Frostedge clasped his hands together respectfully, bowing once more. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Frostedge, and yes, I am a magic swordsman. As a fellow magic swordsman, I must say, Sir Orion, I admire your combat skills. Your technique is remarkable." "Orion, what are you doing?"
A woman with short blonde hair approached, followed by the other knights. Her name identified her as Anna.
"Hi," she greeted Frostedge with a polite nod. "Are you planning to visit Slumdon Town?" Frostedge bowed slightly in response. "That's correct."
But before he could say more, Orion stepped in front of Anna, raising his sword and pointing it directly at Frostedge.
"So, you're a magic swordsman, huh? Then duel me. Let's see if you're actually skilled or just pretending."
"Orion, stop it," Anna interjected. "He's not hostile. He's just passing through on his way to Slumdon Town."
Karl, another knight, stepped forward to back her up. "Orion, enough. The Lord won't appreciate you challenging random travelers to duels."
"Shut up," Orion shot back. "He's not some random traveler. It's obvious he's high-level. I just want to test his skill-what's the harm in that?"
Frostedge bowed slightly again, his expression calm and collected. "I would be happy to accept your offer of a duel."
The two warriors readied themselves for the duel. Their stances were sharp, signaling their intent to give it everything they had.
Anna and the other knights sighed as they stepped back, creating space for the inevitable
clash.
"That stupid Knight Commander," Karl muttered. "He really should be removed from his position."
Yann offered a calmer perspective. "I think a duel is fine as long as both parties agree."
Karl scoffed. "More like he challenges anyone he pleases just because he feels like it."
Anna, however, grinned widely. "Still, I'm interested in this magic swordsman. Fire versus ice? That could be a sight to see."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Karl frowned. "What if something goes wrong? Worse, what if Orion dies? That would be a serious problem for Lord Broken, considering Orion is the candidate for City Lord of
Deadbay."
Yann shrugged. "Let's just watch the battle and see what happens."
Orion charged his sword, now engulfed in blazing flames.
Across from him, Frostedge stood calmly, his blade swirling with icy energy, a stark contrast
to the fiery aggression of his opponent.

(Author's Note:)
With his calm demeanor, overpowered skills, and that signature "cool guy with a mysterious background" vibe, you could almost mistake Frostedge for a protagonist.
But of course he's not the main character. At least, not our main character. Frostedge is one of those wildcard characters-the kind who could either be your greatest ally or your most
dangerous rival.
