Life didn't get easier, even in another world

Chapter 314

314 Found them

“Should we break it?”

Darren’s sudden, blunt suggestion broke the silence.

“What the- Are you dump? We would be screaming out loud that we are intruders if we did something like that! We’ve come all the way here as stealthily as possible to end up breaking the main entrance?”

Alan looked as if he wanted to beat up Darren for even suggesting something that would ruin all of his efforts in the past month.

“Then what?”

Darren folded his arms and glared at Alan.

“Do you want us to keep waiting outside of the door like this? We’ve been waiting here for someone to enter or exit the warehouse for 20 minutes, and nothing has happened yet! That was your suggestion!”

After seeing that they had no way of opening the door or hacking the device, Alan suggested that they wait outside the door for someone to come and use it. They could capture the Philomns member and use his info to enter the warehouse. Everyone agreed with him as there seemed to be no other way to pass through the door. They couldn’t even contact the headquarters and ask them to hack the device as they were afraid that Philomns might detect the signals when they try contacting.

“We’ve been waiting here for 20 minutes. It took us 30 minutes to walk down those stairs, and we spent a lot of time stealthily passing the protective barriers. I’m sure we are delaying the operation from starting way too much. If this goes on, Philomns might notice that something is not right and the whole operation might fail! They might have noticed that we’ve infiltrated them by now, as it’s been about an hour since we’ve taken down the first barrier!”

.....

Darren barraged Alan, as well as team leader Dains, with his words, which weren’t wrong at all.

“What if I use my personal ID to open it?”

Then, Aaron’s suggestion drew everyone’s attention to him.

“Yes?”

“I worked for Philomns for a while so I have an ID card. I was also one of the Ranks. I was told that the Ranks could gain access to most parts of Philomns structures using their ID card. Though I’ve never come here before, I can still test to see if it’ll work or not.”

The unit members turned to team leader Dains after listening to Aaron’s words.

“Wouldn’t that be dangerous? They sure know that you are working for us not.”

Aaron nodded his head.

“That is indeed dangerous. They could ban my ID, or set up an alarm to go out if my ID was detected. There is also the possibility that only the ones who work here can open this lock.”

The team leader nodded his head in agreement.

“But as Darren said, we can’t wait here forever. Philomns is not a fool. I’m sure they will notice that their barriers were down soon, or they might’ve noticed it by now. Even if using my ID causes a commotion and reveals our location, there is nothing they can do as long as we move faster.”

Aaron glanced at the door once before sliding his hand inside his cloak and taking out a card from it. Team leader Dains glanced at the ID card and opened his mouth.

“They won’t manage to send back up here if the other teams do their jobs properly... And if we manage to secure the bombs and move them out of here, or at least make sure that Philomns can’t activate them, things will go as planned even if we are found out here.”

The team leader was approving of Aaron’s suggestion by saying those words. Aaron’s gaze lowered towards the card in his hand, before moving towards Kairen.

“But I fear that he might show up...”

And then he mumbled.

“He?”

Kairen tilted his head.

“Their master. That crazy bastard.”

Aaron’s grip around his spear tightened a bit.

“Will he really come down here when his main base is under attack?”

“He is crazy, so yes, he can.”

Aaron then added.

“He was also after Kairen... so it is more likely that he will come here once he knows that unit 5 is infiltrating the warehouse.”

Kairen blinked his eyes.

‘He is after me? Creepy!’

That was something really unpleasant to hear.

“Doesn’t that mean that we have to hurry?”

“Yeah, they might’ve already noticed that we are here.”

Aaron glanced at Kairen once again before walking towards the closed door and pushing his personal ID card on the screen of the device.

BEEP

The device beeped, before the light on the door turned green, and the gate opened with a small ‘Pst’.

Aaron put the card inside his cloak and hurriedly came back to stand beside Kairen. The two sides of the gate opened automatically, slowly revealing the interior of the warehouse.

White-bluish walls with countless small light bulbs were what they saw at first. The inside was too bright that it hurt to look at it at first. What caught their eyes next was the huge area that was spread before their eyes, which had a huge hole-like empty area at the center of it, and... a lot of crystals on the ceiling.

“Mascry?”

Inside a transparent half-sphere, upside-down dome-like thing, they could see a huge number of small and big purple-pink shining crystals. They were glowing radiantly which was visible even in the bright hall, and strongly concentrated mana was felt oozing out from them.

“Huh...”

Elsie gasped quietly. She must’ve been affected by the strange mana flow of the area, as her face looked kinda blank. It was understandable though. Even though Kairen had stopped using mana and could no longer cast even a low-level spell, the concentration of mana in the atmosphere was making him feel a little bit suffocating as well.

“Huh?”

“Who?”

It was just after hearing some confusing mumbles that the team noticed that there were other people inside the hall.

“What is going on?”

“Wait, that symbol... SMF?”

They could see a bunch of soldiers standing in different corners of the hall, frozen stiff while staring at the unit, as well as some men and women wearing white coats with their personal cards attached to their chests.

“Int- Intruders-MMFFFF!”

A soldier attempted to shout, but his mouth got filled with soil before he could do anything. Soil shot out from Aaron’s spear towards the soldiers and bind them all, before killing them the same way he had killed the guards.

“KYAA!”

“R-Run-”

The people with white coats, the researchers, screamed upon seeing the dead corpsed of the soldiers and hurried to run away, but none of their screams were heard by anyone.

SWOSH

It was because Rai had created a dome around them with air, which separated them from the other side and prevented their voice from reaching out. The researchers who attempted to run out of the domes were soon knocked unconscious by Darren and Carlson. The two of them carried the unconscious researchers and put them on one side of the hall, searching their bodies for anything dangerous and binding their limbs. Unlike the soldiers, who were dangerous to keep alive, these people might help them gain some information, so they decided not to kill any of them and instead send them back to the headquarters.

“Down there...”

Kairen, who never joined the others in taking care of the people, and slowly approached the center of the floor, mumbled while pointing down. The others joined him one by one and looked down.

There was a vast area beneath the floor they were standing on. The ends of the lower floor were not visible from where they were standing and they were standing too high up to clearly see what was in there, however, no one had any doubt about the identity of the things they were looking at.

“There are so many...”

Rows behind rows of small spheres were lined up down there. Besides them were bigger and stronger-looking bombs as well. There were some other objects, that looked like rockets and missiles, as well as some other things that they couldn’t distinguish.

“This many...”

“How?”

The number of weapons exceeded their expectations. They thought they’d find a bunch of bombs in here, but not missiles and other weapons.

“And they have a lot of normal weapons stored in other warehouses...”

The deputy team leader mumbled. The whole team was standing at the edge of the floor and looking down.

“There is a barrier there.”

Alan didn’t have to say that, as all of them clearly knew that there must be strong protective barriers around these weapons.

“Kairen, you stay here... or maybe go out.”

Kairen nodded at the team leader and took one step back. He had seen before how the bomb Aaron was holding when he attacked the prince reacted to his power. They couldn’t afford any mistakes here.

“There is a ladder there... oh, an elevator!”

“I’ll take down the barrier.”

“Here! I picked up a personal ID card from one of those people.”

The unit members hurried to finish things, while Kairen slowly took steps back to stay in front of the door, or maybe outside of it to prevent anything dangerous from happening.

Team leader Dains watched everyone start working before picking up his communication device. They had stopped themselves from using it till now in case they would get detected, but they didn’t need to worry about that anymore.

“From unit 5 to all of the other units, the mission is almost done.”

-Have you secured the weapons?

.....

Team leader Dains glanced at his unit members that were descending the ladder after Alan took down the barrier. An alarm must’ve gone out by now after the annihilation of the last barrier, the enemies would come to them at any moment.

“We are preparing to transmit them.”

-Understood.

There was a moment of silence.

-All of the units, start the operation

Before the man on the other side of the communication device, the commander, ordered his troops.

-The preparations are done. Start the transmission.

“Yes, sir.”

Team leader Dains nodded before he also headed down to where the weapons were. The unit divided themselves into two teams, one would help in transmitting the weapons, and one would stay guard.

Of course, Kairen was none of them as he might cause problems if he is around the weapons.
