Chapter 347 How hell feels
347 How hell feels
"Hahaha did you see that, why aren't you laughing now huh, little bastard." Virgil said, grabbing Rio by his neck and lifting him up.
Rio struggled to free himself, flailing his hands and feet to get back to the ground. But to crush his opposition, sharp nails grew on Virgil's fingers, directly digging themselves into Rio's neck, puncturing his veins and blood vessels.
"Quite the cocky tone you had when you were mocking me earlier, taunting me, that my partners were cowards and ran away, leaving me behind. So where's that arrogant look go now?" Virgil said, turning Rio's figure around so he could see the running backs of his classmates and friends.
He moved behind Rio's back and started whispering in his ears. "See how they ran? Didn't even look back to see you struggle. Pathetic."
Rio with his body battered and bruised, mana depleted beyond levels that made his entire self go numb looked at everyone's disappearing back into the spatial portal and a tear slipped out of his eyes.
For the first time after coming to Arcadia, he cried for something new.
The feelings of betrayal, of being left behind, all brought back the traumas he thought he had moved past with the love he received here. The familiar voices of Shweta, Ria and Nashi - whom he hasn't heard for years echoed in his ears again.
{You and me, we are cursed Shiva. We hurt the people closest to us just by breathing the same air.}
{Give up already, what's the point, of all the pain you endured, of all the pressure you're wielding on your shoulders. What is the point?}
{In the end, you'll always be alone, Shiva. That is your destiny.}
With every passing moment, his heart was beating ever the slower as blood constantly dripped through his wounded chest and formed a pool beneath his feet.
"What happened, no words of wisdom, witty remarks, snotty comeback - ahahaha - Do you regret it now. Saving them, running here to fight me. If you had just accepted my proposal and joined the Warzy, none of it would've happened." Virgil increased his strength, gripping Rio's neck tightly, watching as his face turned red and blue with the lack of air. "If you had just listened to me, we both would've left already, but you had to be the hero and jump forward to save that bastard of a prince."
"Look at us now, two idiots left to die in a crumbling world, by the very people we fought to protect." Virgil said, his voice dripping with unquenchable anger glancing at the cracking ground and crumbling skies around him.
He wasn't much better than Rio, knowing that the plan to kill everyone in this dungeon failed and the principal of Zenith was about to enter this place forcefully to wipe them out, the leaders who were still left alive till now directly destroyed the dungeon's core as the last means and escaped on their own. Leaving minions like him to die or hold back people to buy them enough time.
Virgil could've escaped a while ago instead of torturing Rio and beating him to a near death state now, but he was too angry and mad at this guy. After all, this little bastard took him by surprise and cut off his arm right when the dungeon started crumbling. He could feel the spreading poison on his open wound, which felt like ants were crawling all over his skin, and every bite of their brought a firey touch of hell and unimaginable pain.
And as a qualified villain, the only way to suppress that pain was to inflict it back as revenge. So he stayed and tortured Rio to this extent.
"I'll be leaving now, you , just wait for your death here, and mourn over the moment you chose to be a hero, my 'fallen' angel." Virgil said as he threw Rio's body to a nearby boulder and turned around and disappeared in a flash.
Rio forced his body to be straight as he supported his back on the broken stone behind him. Though this movement took all his strength and he ended up coughing a mouthful of blood mixed with little pieces of broken bones and internal organs, which also fell over.
He blinked his eyes groggily, trying to see something, but the blood was probably covering his pupils as everything around him looked so blurry and red.
Flinching hard, he moved his head to the side where his eyes could still see a little shadow of a golden pillar reaching high into the skies far away. "The porta_ klegh" He wanted to speak but ended up spurting blood again.
He pressed his hand over his heart, as he felt it might just fall down through the open sword slash mere inches above it.
'I can't die here. I can't'
{You can rest now. It's all over.}
'Ria, Amy, she's _ ali..'
{Shh, it's fine now. I'm here, you can sleep peacefully.}
'I need to_ t_to go back.'
{Don't think of anything. Just close your eyes and rest.}
Words seemed to echo in his mind as he tried to hold back his dizziness. Darkness seemed to be covering his eyes, and the feeling of drowsiness finally caught up to him. For a second he had an illusion that he was back in the darkness where he went after his death, and he could finally sleep in peace again.
'May be all of it was just a dream, and he just had to sleep again.' He thought in his mind, as darkness drowned everything of his existence.
Urghhhhh (heavy gasps)
Yet next moment, as if a bolt of current passed through his body, he woke up with a heavy gasp again. Little clarity came to his eyes again as he looked down and found his hand clutching his heart through the open wound. The soft touch of rubbery meat gave a warn feeling to his fingers.
A red light shone through his chest as he felt his heart beating again. And soon streaks of mana started to pass through his body continuously.
Mana suction method, a technique he first used when he was going through his awakening and wanted to impress Nyx. Where one person forcefully drags the mana mixed in their heart and uses it for a small boost.
It wasn't anyone's help, neither Hela, nor Nyx's - it was simply a safehand he had prepared himself for the worst case scenarios.
For Rio now, this method acted just like a shock therapy and a heavy adrenaline shot that brought him back from the doors of hell.
(A/N - Ohh yeah no way in hell, he's ever going to heaven with the amount of bad karma and bloodshed he's been dragging around.🤣)
Channeling whatever mana he could gather in this situation, he raised his arm and bit the skin from his wrist open and spit the bloody chunk away. A small metal storage ring fell down to the ground along with the blood stream when he turned his hand over.
(A/N- You guessed it, his original storage ring was taken away by Virgil, after the torture. And this was just another backup he had for cases like these.}
Rio grabbed the ring and poured all the remaining mana he had left. Potions, pills, weapons, artifacts, clothes all kinds of things piled up on the ground in front of him, and after another few seconds of arduous struggle and painful grunts he finally picked a few pills and stuffed them in his mouth.
A warm current passed through his body like a raging wave when a dam broke out. His body was burning red as smoke came out his ears, yet he didn't care about the pain and picked up other pills and potions one after another and kept chugging them down.
Finally after what felt like a damn long eternity in a burning hot cauldron his body calmed down. His health restored to a better state and his mana reserves were slowly rising back up again.
Looking at the golden pillar of light in the distance, his eyes shone silver and his gaze pierced through all the obstacles. Staring at the portal through which everyone was leaving this dungeon. He wanted to take back his skill as his eyes started to hurt, and whatever mana he got back was almost depleted again, when his sight noticed a girl in black hair standing by the portal staring in his direction.
Standing in the desolate planet where deafening roars and screams of monsters continued to echo heavily, where purple lightning danced upon the ground blasting holes as big as basketball fields, while flashing beautifully like dragons among the red sky. All the monsters of that world went bloodthirsty and mad as their instincts screamed danger and death when the world of dungeon started separating from the binds of Arcadia. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Though he couldn't hear her, he could understand what she said before stepping into the open portal and disappearing forever. The shining portal closing behind her and the golden pillar losing its luster and fading away.
"What a joke." Rio said and laughed a little self-deprecatingly.
He waved his hand, collecting all the resources back into his ring and forced his body to stand up. He had lost a lot of his blood making his whole skin pale and dead like a vampire, but there was nothing he could do about that.
Thousands of monsters, undead, zombies and mutated beasts were all running rampant as far as the eyes could see. Crashing and destroying into whatever came into their path like blind unstoppable moths to a flame.
Some students and villains of Warzy, who were still trapped and left behind like him, were running like headless flies here and there, while some gave in to despair and killed themselves to save the horrible ending that awaited everyone in the next few moments.
"What a glorious ending huh." Rio said and sighed as he felt the changes in the air around him.
Far in the corners of the world, the shouts and screams suddenly turned to silence for a moment and he knew the moment was here. A wave of turbulent spatial fluctuation swept over the ground, destroying all life amongst its path.
"This is gonna hurt much worse than a truck hit."
Rio joked and closed his eyes as the hellish pain of being torn apart in thousands of pieces and then ripping those pieces into millions of parts and then stretching them into billions of distance all hit his brain at once, and a scream that seemed to echo throughout the void escaped his mouth.
Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
