Chapter 73: You're not leaving this place tonight.

Leo Martins sat beside his grandfather and spoke "I went looking for a certain someone only to be told she was at the barracks''

''You went to my place?'' Liyah Myers asked surprised.

''Look at you two? Doing things without telling each other. This old man will leave you two to do your own things. Liyah, let's chat another time''. Old Master Martins stood up to go.

''Thank you, grandpa''. Liyah Myers said shyly and the old man smiled and went away.

Silence absorbed the room turning the atmosphere awkward. Liyah met Leo's gaze and looked away quickly. Leo Martins didn't hide his stare and continued to look at her.

''Why are you looking at my face like that?'' Liyah Myers asked shyly. 'Is there something on my face? Or is it because I came here without calling you first? You left angrily and I didn't know what else to do. I thought you might not want to pick my calls. I had no option than to come here''. Liyah Myers said and looked away.

Leo Martins looked at her and turned to the door. His second in command and the other soldiers were standing behind the door peeping at them. Leo Martins sighed and stood up stretching his hand to her ''let's go somewhere else safe''.

Liyah Myers looked at him and he pointed at the door ''those nosy ears and eyes are watching us''. Liyah Myers looked towards the door and saw the images of the soldiers and chuckled. She got up and Leo Martins held her hand and walked her upstairs.

They got to Leo's bedroom door and he opened and Liyah stopped and looked at him. He noticed the hesitance in her and spoke ''trust me, this is the safest place. My room is soundproof and I promise to be a gentleman''.

Liyah Myers blushed and said ''no, is not what you're thinking. This is my first time in the house and this is your bedroom. What if your grandfather thinks poorly of me?'' Liyah Myers said and bit her lips nervously.

''What? No, my grandfather is quite eccentric and doesn't care about such things. Besides, I already promised to be a gentleman. Whatever you're thinking won't happen, but I won't say no to it to. Let's go in''.

Leo Martins pulled Liyah in and closed the door. The soldiers sighed and went back to their duty posts.

Liyah Myers looked at the room. It was very big and had its own walk-in closet. The room had a melancholic feeling to it making one feel warm and at ease.

There was a table and chair in the room and a big bed. The table had books on it. Liyah looked at the room and smiled.

Leo Martins caught her smile and asked ''what's making you smile?''

''Your room feels warm. I didn't think you would like a room like this. Is beautiful''. Liyah Myers said.

Leo Martins pulled her to the chair to sit and sat on the bed saying ''the room is beautiful but, the one in the room is even more beautiful''. Liyah blushed and looked away.

''So, tell me. Why did you come here?'' Leo Martins asked as he went into his closet to change.

''August Maijune is awake. She opened her eyes this evening around 20:00PM. She doesn't remember what happened to her and she doesn't remember anything about Aaron too''. Liyah said worriedly.

''I went to the hospital before coming here. Aaron and Kash told me everything''. Leo Martins changed into casual wear and returned to sit on the bed.

''Oh, I didn't know you went there before coming''. Liyah Myers said awkwardly.

''Liyah, can we talk about us now?'' Leo Martins asked.

''Uhuh? Us?'' Liyah Myers said nervously.

''Yes, us. You didn't come all the way here to tell me that August was awake, right?'' Leo Martins asked.

''You're right. I came to apologise. My behaviour this morning was not the best. I'm sorry''. Liyah told him.

''Liyah, I'm going to push your buttons today. Don't you have anything to tell me?'' Leo Martins asked while looking at her.

Liyah's mind was now a complete mess as she clasped her hands together. Her foot shook subconsciously as she bit her lips nervously.

Leo Martins looked at her behaviour and thought deep. She was definitely scared and nervous and he didn't understand why.

''Do you know why you're behaving this way, Liyah?'' Leo Martins asked.

''Maybe I should go home. I don't think I'm ready to face you''. Liyah stood up and rushed to the door. Leo Martins caught her hand and pulled her and she crushed into him.

Leo Martins stood up and held unto her waist and spoke hoarsely. His voice was so seductive and captivating making Liyah shiver in his arms ''Oh, Liyah, there is something I forgot to tell you. You can't leave this room until you have told me all that is on your mind''.

''Then, let me go. I will speak once I sit down''. Liyah said.

''You had your chances. My hands really don't intend to listen to me now that they have you in them. Tell me, you remember the kiss from last night, right?'' Liyah shook her head.

''I must have been really drunk. I really don't remember that I kissed you''. Liyah said. Her whole body felt hot.

''What about your confessions to me? You told me you like me? Do you not remember that one too?'' Leo Martins asked leaning closer to her ears and breathing hot air into her.

''I remember that''. Liyah answered.

''Then, why did you play it off this morning? Do you have any idea how that made me feel?'' Leo Martins released his grip on her and went back to sit on the bed.

Liyah's feet gave way and she leaned on the way by the door. Leo Martins looked at her.

''You're scared. You think every man is going to be or act like Josh. I've been watching you for a year, Liyah and I know the attraction I feel is not one-sided. At first I didn't want to push you. I thought with time, you will come out of your slump. But, you just keep culling back into your shell''.

Liyah Myers sat back on the chair listening to him.

''Actually, I am not so kind. I am not so good either. But, I am only kind and good to the woman I like. The man you see in front of you won't promise you heaven. I can't assure you that things between us will always be good. I don't know how long this feeling will last either, but what I can assure you is this. What I feel for you is genuine and real. I promise you that I will always be good to you. I will protect you from anyone or anything that will pose as a danger to you.

I have the confidence that I can make you happy. But, I won't be able to do all that if you don't give me the chance. If you don't open up to me, I can't get pass your emotional barriers to help you, Liyah''.

''I know; I know that you're good to me. I know you will never do anything to hurt me. I know all that, but, I can't help feeling unworthy when it comes to you. You are a good man.

I told myself a lot of times not to fall for you because of your kindness. I don't have the confidence to match yours. My past will always follow me. the ugly things I did in the past will always be there. Can you accept that about me?'' Liyah asked him amidst the tears.

''Your past? What is that? What you think is ugly about you isn't something you should even be thinking about. What did you do wrong? Is having sex with the man you thought you loved wrong? No, it is not. What is wrong is the illegal filming he did. What is wrong is the fact that he used your feelings for him against you.

Liyah, when I look at you, I don't see those things as something you should be worried about. Do you know the reason why I fell for you? Is because, you are a strong woman. A bold and confident woman who knows what she wants and goes after it''.

''I feel so dirty. I don't deserve you, Leo''. Liyah said and stood up.

''Really? Then, who does? Do you even know about my past? Or is it because I am a man you think my past doesn't matter? Liyah, you said you don't remember the kiss last night, right? I am going to show you what real desire is. Why don't we go back to last night and relive that kiss? I liked the kiss from drunk Liyah, but I will love a kiss from sober Liyah too''.

With that, Leo Martins stood up and closed in on her. He held her chin and supported her with another hand pulling her to himself. He looked at her with a darkened expression filled with desire as he leaned closer to kiss her.

Liyah Myers stiffened and relaxed soon entering into his embrace and responding to his kiss.

Leo Martins held her tighter and kissed her.
