CHAPTER 323 – Pain

His brows snapped together, frowning his face as he let his angry gaze linger on his dragons.

He had never asked them to remain stupefied before him but to fight on, including not allowing that scoundrel to escape.

Seeing the shock and confusion in their eyes, Xander roared angrily, forcing everyone to their heels as they dashed off in any direction in search of Zane.

Even Astoria forgot to use her powers to search and dash off like the others. In the end, they were left with Macy, Jade and Asia.

Not even the human soldiers with them remained to find out what would happen.

At this point, everyone believed and hoped if he was to calm down, only his mate could get him there.

Now the big challenge they had was the fact that even Jade was gone and lost in her rage. However, they hoped that Macy and Asia would be able to do something.

.....

Xander breathed in and released a sharp breath, trying to calm down, but when his eyes landed on the blood stain on Jade’s hand, his pupils dilated once more.

“Arrgrhhh!”

Sensing his pain through the mate bond, Jade rose to her feet and held her palm up, hoping to calm him down with that simple move.

“Xander, please calm down,” she pleaded through the mind link.

“You’re hurt,” she breathed out and decided to try again seeing as he did not make any move concerning her words. “Xan, honey.”

“Jade, do not move,” Xander let out in a low warning tone while his eyes darted straight to her injured arm. “You’re hurt,” he snarled.

“No. I am not,” Jade lied, reeling out a hiss from his lips as he brought his gaze back to hers.

“Do not lie to me, mate. I can feel your pain and your heartbeat.”

Her eyes relaxed. He had caught her, there was no need to pretend. However, she did not plan to make him worry.

“Yes, it hurts, but not as painful as seeing you lose control. Come back to me,” Jade persuaded lightly, her eyes glassy with tears as she stared him deep into his eyes, hoping to look past Xyler and reach his consciousness.

Seeing her try so much, Xander shook his head before closing his eyes. By the time he reopened them he was already right in front of her, using his entire body to block her view and shield her from any more harm.

At first, Jade felt shocked by the way he quickly appeared before her.

However, she felt a sense of calm and safety when he flexed his muscles and his wings reacted by his side, spreading wide before finally relaxing.

He snapped his eyes from her face and brought it down to the hand. He needed to prove to her that he was very much in control right now as he was before.

“Your hand.”

“Huh?”

“Release it,” he directed her and waited for her to comply. Slowly, Jade removed her right hand from the injured left hand and let both stay limply by her side.

Once that was done, she let her eyes hold his and watched his eyes blazing in the same colour. Nothing changed except for the fact that he seemed calmer than before.

Somehow, Jade found that the more she looked into his eyes, the more relaxed she began to feel like she could feel Xyler communicate his worries and his care towards her.

While her mind was spellbound by the sight before, Xander glanced at her hand again and could see the blood still seeping out.

With every drop that spilt down the length of her arm, the more pain and cut he felt in his heart.

Suddenly he felt her wince and when he looked at her face, he noticed that his pain affected her. Her brows knitted into a small frown.

She was tempted to hold her hand or do something to feel the pain coursing through her body but she couldn’t. His intense gaze kept her glued to one spot.

Satisfied by her mild obedience, Xander looked at his blood-stained hands, shook his head as though silently muttering ‘this won’t do’ and let them fall to his side as he leaned down, bringing his face closer to her hand.

Shocked, Jade gasped when she felt his hot breath on her skin. Still, that was not why she flinched, when she saw him stick his tongue out, she was forced to do more than flinch.

At first, it was his face coming too close that startled her. Nevertheless, sticking his tongue out was another thing.

“What does he want to do? Lick my wound or what? That would mean…’

With his piercing gaze staring her straight in the eyes, Raven could not react and stayed still, pulling her out of her thoughts.

For a moment she had forgotten he could hear her thoughts and behaved carelessly.

Understanding what that stare meant, while also urging her to behave, she gulped visibly and took a step forward.

You seem to have forgotten I can hear you loud and clear.”

She pressed her lips together in protest, forcing a small smile on his lips. Brief, yes, but that did not change the cold look in those eyes, showing how ready he was to kill.

While her brain wrapped around that, she was reminded about the risk involved. With yes flying wide open, Jade communicated through the mind link. “Xander, it’s a silver bullet.”

He could sense her fear but he wasn’t scared. Anything for her.

“I do not want to touch you with blood, especially ones that aren’t mine or yours. I won’t taint you,” he reasoned.

Her heart melted further by his genuine words. Soon, she was brought out of her swoon when he stuck out his tongue once more.

“Xander.”

“Allow me.”

Her breathing ceased involuntarily as she watched closely. He brought his tongue closer to the wound and slowly glided his tongue over her skin.

A shudder swept through her body and she felt her insides respond in a manner it only knew how to.

Her pleasure had been awakened.

‘Damn it.’ Jade cursed in her mind.

A soft chuckle escaped his lips, reminding her he was there. Before she could say anything, he shut his eyes and soon she felt something begin to surround her skin, like a little pressure, a primal pull.

“Aahh!”

She screamed feeling the bullet begin to move in her hand, working its way out of her body.

Asia and Macy placed a step forward and got into position to run when they saw his hand hold out, preventing them from taking a step further.

At once they understood he meant they should stay and not disturb. Even though Macy knew, she was tempted to still take a look when Asia shook her head at her.

With her last hope being cut off, Macy respected her wish and stopped while Jade’s pain continued for a few seconds much longer and before she knew it, it was snuffed out of her hand.

She breathed out in relief and quickly opened her eyes just in time to see Xander pull his lips into a sucking manner.

That was when she understood, he used his mouth to control what happened and before she knew it, it pulled closer to his lips but not touching his lips.

However, she felt her lips burn so much from the action but no injury came. Looking back at him, she understood why.
