Chapter 1384 Childlike Joy
1384 Childlike Joy
Watching Raelle acting like a kid, Mu Chenyan laughed heartily and had a content look on her face. She never thought she would one day be able to see this side of Raelle. She was more than happy to see this carefree side of Raelle who knew how to tease, how to have fun, and how to finally walk out of her shell.
The original intention of moving back to their home country was just that Elder Xiang missed the land he was born and raised in. Since he was old now and became a lot more nostalgic with time, Raelle didn't say a word when they suddenly asked to change the country.
Even if Raelle had to work extra hard to shift the focus of her business here, she was willing to make an effort for her grandfather as always. Who knew a lot of things would change once they came back to the country, even though it was impossible to get back the lost times or people, Mu Chenyan believed they found a lot more after coming back to the country.
She did not regret coming back to their homeland as this place not only gave her back her brother, her nemesis slash now-husband, her niece and nephew, but this place also gave her a big surprise in the form of Raelle's smiles and emotions that she never understood before.
She was really thankful for all these changes.
She watched as the laughter of Cloe and Xiang Wai blended with the sound of the rain while Raelle only smiled silently. Their childlike joy was so infectious that even Mu Chenyan found herself completely immersed in the moment, forgetting about place and time.
A few pedestrians hurried past, some shaking their heads with bemusement, others smiling at the sight of these women playing in the rain. Even a teenage couple holding hands under the shared umbrella stopped for a moment to watch, their smiles growing wider.
Soon, the teenage girl extended her hand to catch the raindrops and splashed it on her boyfriend's hand as she giggled happily.
Mu Chenyan didn't know how long she stood under the awning of the cafe to watch the scenes unfolding before her eyes. It brought her comfort and peace as if all the tiredness of these days was being washed away despite her being completely dry and clean. She watched the three women slow down, breathless, soaked, but happy.
She first borrowed an umbrella from the shop owner before walking down the alley towards the RV which had been parked at the corner waiting for them. She got inside to put out towels and clean clothes for the three of them before going back.
"That's enough for the day," she called out to them. "You all will catch a cold at this rate."
The three of them came to stand beside her and Mu Chenyan dutifully passed them towels and asked them to dry themselves. Then she pushed them to go to an empty room behind the cafe to change their clothes. She even asked the owner to prepare ginger tea for all of them and did not let any of them go without drinking the ginger tea.
"As always, Yanyan is the meticulous one," commented Raelle.
"My only failure in life is that I wasn't able to raise a girl who knew how to take care of herself."
"Are you talking about me?" asked Raelle.
"Or else?" asked Mu Chenyan in response. "You are the only one here who lacks the basic survival skills."
"I am getting better," argued Raelle. "Yes, you are," agreed Mu Chenyan. "It was my oversight that I didn't push you to learn those survival skills because I thought it wasn't needed when I'm around. But I forgot that no one stays with you for life."
Raelle glanced at her and asked, "Yanyan, why are you getting sentimental?"
"Maybe because you are getting married."
"But I married so long ago."
"That's different. This time, it's really hitting me differently."
"Should I apologize for always worrying you?" asked Raelle. "I took too much of your time. Half a life of yours was given to me. I don't think I'd be able to pay back."
Mu Chenyan touched her damp hair saying, "Who is asking for a payback? Let's not discuss this or I might end up crying and you'll remind me how leaking tears can get me dehydrated."
"I'm not wrong though."
"When are you wrong?" retorted Mu Chenyan as she pinched her cheek lovingly. "Do you wanna know what our last task of the day is?"
"Of course, there is more," groaned Raelle. "I think I'm tired."
"After getting wet in the rain, people do get drowsy. At least that happened with me but you have to hold it in. We don't have time for a nap," said Mu Chenyan as she touched Raelle's face. "This is the last one. Then I'll let you go back."
"Okay, what is it?" asked Raelle and even the other two also looked at Mu Chenyan since they didn't know what was the last activity as well. So, all of them were eagerly looking at Mu Chenyan waiting for her answer right now.
"Finish your ginger tea and I'll take you there," answered Mu Chenyan. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
They hurriedly blew on the tea in their respective cups and gulped it down even if it tasted too spicy they didn't stop and got done with it to move on to the next phase of this bachelorette party.
Seeing that they were done and even the rain also stopped outside, Mu Chenyan beckoned them all to follow her. After walking out of the cafe once more, they found the atmosphere to be even more pleasant after the rain that washed down the air and made the sky so clear and lovely.
They didn't go far from the cafe and stopped in front of a shop. Once they smelled the delicious aroma floating out of the shop and looked at the name of the shop, the three of them looked at Mu Chenyan in surprise.
