Chapter 365 CH 350: CALL OF THE DEAD
The moment Miguel drank Adam's blood, and the blood traveled through his body, he felt nothing, absolutely nothing, at least at first. He could still feel that slightly salty and metallic taste of the viscous blood and the sensations of said blood flowing down his throat was also there to accompany the taste.
It was truly a disgusting sensation.
But at the same time, he could feel a certain heat flow down through his throat and subsequently fill his entire body, heating it.
Slowly but surely, the heat pervaded every corner of his body, giving him the impression that he was experiencing what felt like a very high fever.
Soon, this fever changed into a feeling of being consumed by an all-consuming fever that was out to reap his life like the hands of a Grim Reaper.
Cough~ Cough~
Miguel was unable to breathe. He clawed at his throat, trying to ingest some oxygen into his system, but no matter how he tried, it seemed impossible for him right now.
"Brother!"
"Do not move."
Diego tried to reach out to his brother but he was pinned down by a force so strong that he simply had no power to fight against it. No matter how much he struggled, he was simply too weak to do anything outside of glaring daggers at Adam.
But Adam had no care for the feelings of anger that the man was feeling right now…
"Haha…"
A chuckle escaped his lips and the subtle light of anticipation that had been brimming in his eyes now shone brighter than ever.
He immediately enlarged his wounds and sent even more blood into Miguel's body by lifting him with his power and forcing him to drink more and more of his blood.
He was still hungry and this stunt was more likely to make him die than anything else, but he could not stop.
"Ugh…"
Miguel groaned but Adam was adamant on seeing this experiment through.
He already had the confirmation that wishing to transform someone with his blood was a requirement to transform them using his blood as a medium.
So he followed by sending more blood to Diego as well, to whom nothing had happened initially and as he thought, soon, Diego started to show the same symptoms as his brother. This fully confirmed that his intent was required along with his blood for someone to turn.
'This is it.'
This was something he had been waiting for a long time but never had the guts to try out. Be it for one reason or another.
Now it was finally time for him to see what would happen to his newly acquired test subjects.
Adam opened the 'Eyes of Truth' and gazed at the two men that were struggling with the transformation of their bloodlines.
『 Name: Miguel Fernandez
Affiliation: Fernandez Brothers
Alias: Snake
Race: Human/?? (Undergoing Awakening of a Dormant Bloodline)
Age: 37

Overall Combat Capacity: D+
Remark: Continue to observe. 』
『 Name: Diego Fernandez
Affiliation: Fernandez Brothers
Alias: Wild dog,
Race: Human/?? (Undergoing Awakening of a Dormant Bloodline)
Age: 32
———
Overall Combat Capacity: C-
Remark: Continue to observe. 』
Their stats aside, which were in the realm of what could be anticipated from most humans, what caught Adam's attention was nothing more than the subtle reminder that was mentioned in the bracket of the Race that had newly popped up after Adam made them ingest his blood.
He remembered clearly.
There was only one time when something like that happened and this was back then with Sae.
'Jackpot.'
Adam let out a sigh of relief while ignoring the obvious pain the two were currently being subjected to.
He had managed to gather a few important observations from this. But at the same time, he needed more samples to come to a clear-cut conclusion.
One of the realizations he achieved was that… the transformation required the desire to transform the individual, otherwise, his blood would not affect them.
The second part was a supposition. Nothing said what would happen if he simply gave large quantities of blood over a long time.
Something worth exploring.
Two, both blood and sperm could induce the transformation. But blood seemed more efficient and was able to speed up the process by a lot.
Either it was because of a clear desire to transform unlike a subconscious desire to transform Sae or blood was indeed more efficient.
What about his other fluids? Saliva? Sweat? Tears? What about his flesh? Or his Bones?
Something else worth exploring.
Three, he had the power to induce a sort of atavism and bring some of the ancestral bloodline that was hidden in the blood of every being, and bring them back to light.
How far did this exactly go?
Was it the power of his race? Or the power of Origin?
Or was Origin the power of his race itself?
He gave a bitter smile.
Two new answers and ten times as many news questions arose from just a simple experiment.
But it was alright.
He just had to observe and realize.
The Prana in his eyes increased and Adam did something he hadn't done in quite some time.
Observing someone down to the very bones and the flow of their Chakra pathways.
He did not use this skill as it was generally unnecessary and looking at the organs of other people wasn't fun.
This time though, he was observing everything. Down to the last-minute details.
The area of coverage of 'The World' was contracted to a great degree, shrinking down to only a 200 meters radius.
His four minds all worked in unison to make sure he would not miss even the slightest details.
He had missed Sae's transformation because of how she had been possessed by Lilith.
But now, nothing was stopping him from observing these specimens that he had gathered.
As such, under his fervent gaze, the transformation continued unimpeded.
He could see them.
The way the heart started to accelerate; as if it was a machine ready to explode.
The way the blood flowed and moved through their bodies.
The heat inside gradually increased and then decreased, causing a constant change in temperature between them.
Adam continued to feed blood to them, even though he was on the verge of fainting himself.
The process continued.
*Crack*
He could hear it.
The sounds of the Bones breaking and reorganizing themselves.
He ignored their screams of pain, making sure that the sounds would not go beyond the room.
It was truly gruesome. But he did not flinch. He had seen way worse over the month that he had awakened to the supernatural.
Slowly, the color of their Prana started to change as well and it was spreading, trying to reach different main Chakra pathways to open them.
Everything was going well. He was sure of it.
But this was exactly when things started to become problematic.
The sound of the bone breaking and reforming started to cease.
The pumping of their heart slowed down.
Even the transformation of their Chakra stopped.
But more than anything— the Heart Chakra even went on to close for good.
Their hearts stopped beating.
Silence fell.
Adam Waited.
One minute.
Ten minutes.
Nothing.
No more movement.
No more breathing.
They were dead.
Sigh~
Adam covered his face with his hands as he leaned back on the office chair.
"It failed."
He was tired.
His expectations had been so high.
He had truly hoped that he would succeed this time.
But the higher the hopes were the greater the disappointment would be eventually.
[This is not unexpected. Even for the Shapeshifters and Vampires, the transformation is not something 100% sure.]
Still with his face covered, Adam asked,
"What do you think was the cause of failure? What about the success with Sae?"
[Different hypotheses can be drawn. The first one is obviously that Sae's nature as a succubus helped tremendously.
The second hypothesis is that the fact that Lilith possessed Sae's body helped. But this theory is extremely unlikely.
The third hypothesis is a simple incompatibility with your blood.
The fourth hypothesis is that you simply gave too much blood or your blood itself is too powerful.
My final hypothesis would be that those who already opened the heart chakra cannot be transformed. But this is also unlikely as hunters can become Vampires or Shapeshifters.]
Genesis rattled like a machine gun and shared his point of view and opinion of the situation.
"In short, we need more samples."
[That is true.]
The task ahead was still long and arduous but Adam knew that what he lacked the least in this world was time.
At the very least, now he knew that he had done well in not giving his blood to Shuri.
[What will you do with the two brothers?]
Adam looked at the bodies of the two admirable brothers.
His expression was slightly hollow. He did feel slightly bad. But in the first place, killing them had been on the table since the start. So it didn't matter.
At most, it was a shame that he would not be able to use their influence or take over their bank accounts.
The dead did not dream after all.
Well— that was if they remained dead.
"Hope for the best and prepare for the worst."
Adam grinned.
He had indeed thought of the possibility of them dying. Either because of the transformation or simply because he decided to off them in annoyance.
The reason why he still went for it despite the risk was pretty simple.
Be it dead or alive, he had many uses for those two brothers.
"I guess it's time for me to test the other side of my power."
His eyes shone and his pupils took the shape of stars.
The world around him became a monochromatic black and white filled with red lines.
It was time to become a Necromancer.
