Chapter 201 Assassination Third Failure
Chapter 201 Assassination Third Failure
Without hesitation, Li Xian rushed towards the general, going all out and not holding back. His inner qi surged from his entire body to his palm, creating the most deadly strike imaginable. In an instant, Li Xian closed the distance and launched his palm strike directly at the general's heart.
Boom!
The strike echoed, accompanied by the sound of the cement ground crumbling beneath them, as Li Xian used it to amplify his power. The impact caused the general to stagger back several meters, his body contorted under the immense force.
Li Xian panted, having poured all his strength into that strike. However, to his astonishment, the general gradually stood tall, brushing off the dust as if nothing had happened.
Realizing the futility of the situation, Li Xian attempted to gather his remaining strength to flee. But before he could jump back, the general charged forward and delivered a devastating punch to his abdomen.
Boom!
The blow shook Li Xian, who didn't have time to summon his inner qi for defense, causing him to collapse to his knees. He struggled to stand, but before he could, the general's fist shot straight for his face.
"What won't... you die?" Li Xian managed to utter before the punch connected, rendering him unconscious.
After the general had finished knocking Li Xian out for a few moments, a sleek black luxury car pulled up beside Xian's unconscious body. Two men stepped out of the car, picked up Li Xian, and placed him inside. The car's window rolled down, allowing the occupants to communicate with the general.
"Thank you, Supreme General. We'll pick this guy up and deliver him to Mr. Emberweave," the man in the driver's seat said to the general. These individuals were members of the Veneziale gang, working on errands for Daniel.
"Alright, please convey my regards to Mr. Emberweave. His Ether heart is remarkable. I felt invincible while fighting this guy," the general responded to the driver. The driver nodded in acknowledgment before bidding farewell to the general and driving off to transport Li Xian to Daniel's secret base, completing their task for the day.
— A day later - Prescott Estate —
Benjamin Prescott, the multibillionaire of the Tessia Kingdom and the most influential figure in both business and politics within the country, sat within his office. His face bore evident frustration and anger, emotions he struggled to contain.
The source of his vexation was the outcome of the assassination attempt – it had failed, yet again!
At present, the Syndicate Union's operator had contacted Prescott on their behalf to return the reward money along with an apology and compensation.
"We must apologize, Mr. Prescott. It appears that our assessment of the target was inaccurate, leading to the mission's failure. Upon reevaluation of the target's abilities and the overall circumstances, he should be categorized as A-rank. Consequently, you did not have the authorization to employ our platform to target such an individual.
However, this information only emerged after the mission's failure, prompting the Syndicate Union to proceed in accordance with regulations. In addition to returning your reward money, we are granting you another privilege – the opportunity to gain insight into the concealed aspects of our society," the operator stated, her tone apologetic as she elucidated the situation to Prescott.
Prescott, visibly irritated by the Syndicate Union's apparent attempt to deceive him, retorted, "What are you implying, Operator? If you believe I am unfamiliar with the underworld and the clandestine aspects of society, such as gangs, within the Tessia Kingdom, you are gravely mistaken. I daresay nobody here is more acquainted with the underbelly of society than I am."
The operator quickly clarified, "No, sir, that is not the intent. What we are about to unveil is the reality of a world you may have the opportunity to leverage. This is a chance for you to transcend your role as a mere businessman." She patiently laid out the prospect before him.
"Sir, in this world, the entities found in folklore such as vampires, ghosts, and werewolves are real. Magic exists but remains concealed in plain sight, coexisting with us in everyday life. We refer to this hidden reality as the 'Curtained World' or the world behind the curtains," the operator began.
Prescott's annoyance was palpable. He felt that the Syndicate Union was now trying to pass off nonsense as an opportunity. "Is this some kind of joke?" he questioned.
However, that skepticism was quickly silenced. The operator inundated him with evidence and facts, compelling him to believe in the existence of the Curtained World.
It was as if an entirely new realm had unfurled before him. Countless possibilities and numerous avenues to amass wealth and power beyond measure stretched out. While he was the most influential and affluent figure in the Tessia Kingdom, he remained a mortal human who would eventually face mortality, leaving his vast wealth to his seemingly useless son studying in America.
If the 'Curtained World' truly existed, then the legends of vampire immortality might also hold some truth. Here was a path to immortality itself, freeing him from the shackles of human mortality. In his lifetime, he had accumulated everything—wealth, power, even relationships with countless female celebrities. When he desired, he could summon one of these celebrities to sate his lust. Such was the extent of his influence and power in the country.
"Immortality... the dream of kings and emperors... huh... Ha Ha Ha Ha HAHAHAHAHA!!!" Prescott chuckled and laughed to himself after hanging up the phone. He now grasped the new possibilities and opportunities presented to him. The knowledge of the Curtained World had more than compensated for his previous hardships and grievances.
Even if Daniel managed to enter and monopolize the electricity distribution market, what of it? Ultimately, Daniel was merely a regular businessman, albeit a genius inventor. His technology could never rival the potential of magic.
Prescott, buoyed by his newfound knowledge, wasted no time in crafting a plan to leverage its potential. His first step was clear: a trip to Britain to establish contact with an organization known as 'The Hightower'.
